4-0 out of 5 stars Instant satisfaction seekers need not apply!
I bought CrossFades first album and thought it was crap. I listened o it for a while and it started to grow on me, so i did the same thing for this album. to really enjoy this album I recommend taking a random track and putting it in with a play list of other like music. Instantly tracks like: Somebody, invincible, anchor, and falling away click. Don't expect Led Zeppelin 4 or something. The cd is well rounded with unique vocals and very well applied bridges. So forget the other reviews, pick this up and give it time and you will find it in your top 10 rotation.

3-0 out of 5 stars Hopefully it will grow on me.
After reading many of the other reviews on this CD, my sentiments are pretty much in line with them. However, I like to give a release another chance, so hopefully over time this will gain some ground in my expanding CD collection.Yes, gone are the hard drivers like "Cold", "So Far Away", and "Colors"; they are replaced by a softer, more radio friendly sound that isn't bad. But, it's way overdone on this disc.To say it was a shock is a little bit on an understatement.I gave this effort three stars because there are two really good songs - "Invincible" and "Everything's Wrong", and two other songs that are decent.Unfortunately, they have to carry a lot of the weight of the whole album.I took a risk and bought this the day after it was released and after only hearing one song.I gambled and blew it.Again, it will probably grow on me a little over time, but this is definately not the best I've heard in awhile.

3-0 out of 5 stars Wow...Where is the razor sharp edge? The hooks?
If you loved the first album, especially as much as I did, then this follow-up album is not for you.... I'm not sure what the reason is, although there is much speculation--but Crossfade sounds like they have lost their soul, what made them Crossfade.I went to many of their shows when they were touring for the first album and THEY ROCKED OUT.I just can't get into the softer, slower, and sorrow-drenched lyrics they came out with on this one.The bone-crunching riffs found in "Starless," "Cold," "Colors," and "So Far Away" are so far away in this second album that they are "falling away" to the back of my CD collection very quickly.Maybe on the next CD they will change things up. ... Editorial Review

After laboring in Buffalo Springfield and Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, Neil Young finally hit perfect pitch--if his endearing off-center whine can be called "perfect"--with his third album. He's equally passionate with trippy riddles (has anybody figured out what "We've got mother nature on the run" means in the title track?) and pointed protest (after 30 years of rock-radio overplay, "Southern Man" still rings with truth about redneck racism). His creaky ensemble, including pianist Jack Nitzsche and rotating members of Crazy Horse, transforms ramshackle country and folk songs into soulful hippie hymns. Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars One of the Best Folk-Soft Rock albums ever!
Neil Young has made a lot of classic rock albums through the years: Everyone Knows This is Nowhere, On the Beach, Tonight's the Night, Rust Never Sleeps, Sleeps With Angels, etc.
3-0 out of 5 stars Pretty much there's only a couple of gold nuggets left here the rest is stubble
I will admit I pretty much held onto this album for 2 songs in particular, and they are "Southern Man", and "When You Dance I Can Really Love". They're the 2 strongest on this album. "Till The Morning Comes" is the next best after those 2, but since it's under a minute and a half it's over before you can get into the groove. "Tell Me Why" is also halfway decent, but not to start the album off with. After that it's all stubble; "I Believe In You" is a love song that just doesn't seem to go anywhere as far as I'm concerned, then "Cripple Creek Ferry" pretty much suffers the same fate as "Till The Morning Comes". "Birds" is forgettable, "Only Love Can Break Your Heart" is another lame love song. Neil Young's cover of Don Gibson's "Oh Lonesome Me" is by far one of the top 5 worst covers of a hit song, finally the title cut is beautiful piano playing, but the lyrics are horribly weak, and finally the worst song on here which is about as depressing as a Sunday afternoon working at a job you hate, and not getting done until 4:30 at the earliest. "Don't Let It Bring You Down" I know I never liked it; it's by far one of the worst Neil Young songs other than his "Sugar Mountain" recorded at Cantaberry House released as a non l.p. 45 in the 70's b/w "Heart Of Gold". I would have "Don't Let It Bring You Down" playing in my head those Sunday afternoons I had to work shortly after my wife passed away, and also after coming back from a suspension at work from where I was falsely accussed of doing something I know I didn't do. This song it just has a way to empty all of your soul out, and leave you with nothingness. Mind you there was alot going on in Neil's life at the time; his marriage was breaking up, he was starting to run around with Carrie Snodgrass, he also was showing his free spirit ways also as he would also release an album with Crosby, Stills, Nash that same year called "Deja Vu". The album only has 2 songs on it that make the backbone; perhaps that's enough, but if you're going to spend money on the cd you would hope that it will be better than just 2 good songs, and perhaps 3-4 more that are decent. I would be downloading the songs I like off of Napster, and forget the rest. ... Read more

"A Perfect Circle is not a side project," proclaim the members of Perfect Circle. It's a caution worth heeding, since the most identifiable name in the band is that of vocalist Maynard James Keenan, lead singer of Tool. On the other hand, one wouldn't be much inclined to file this one under "side project" anyway. The musicians involved go to great lengths to create something distinctive, and if the uniformity of sound can be attributed to the fact that guitarist Billy Howerdel (whose previous songwriting credits include Tool, the Smashing Pumpkins, and David Bowie) is responsible for the lion's share of the music, well, the others aren't exactly marching in lockstep. Keenan's vocals here are quite different from anything heard from him before. Subtle, thoughtful, sober, they're a far cry from Keenan's work with Tool, which is what makes this album more than a side-project curiosity. Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars brilliant.
this is APC's first, and best album. it is an absolute masterpiece. after mer de noms, APC's music went on the decline and could never match this greatness. the most apparent reason being that they lost two key band members in between mer do noms and the thirteenth step. personally, this album goes hand-in-hand with lateralus by tool. both came out within a year of each other and both being the most spiritual album of the two bands (imo). if you've never owned this album, consider yourself a fool for missing the train that came 7 years ago. don't debase yourself any longer by hesitating. experience what many, many others have already experienced as a pure, spiritual and enlightening experience.

4-0 out of 5 stars An artistic experience
The leader singer of this band (Maynard James Keenan) focuses a lot more on his singing on his APC albums than in his TOOL albums. He has a wonderful voice, and I like the fact that he expresses his vocal talents more on this album. I like also that the songs are not too long and there are no long spaces of silence, such as on the TOOL albums. Although TOOL has its merits. They seem to focus more on instrumentals but they are incorporating some aspects of APC. It's a good cd to listen to if you want to listen to rock but not too hard of stuff.

4-0 out of 5 stars "give me one more medicated peaceful moment..."
A Perfect Circle has grown from what many considered a mere side project for Tool frontman Maynard James Keenan to a musical powerhouse unto itself. This transition has been gradual, taking all of three albums to accomplish; the funny thing is, "Mer de Noms" should have been all the proof one needed to see that these guys (and girl) are serious about what they do.Of course, the single "Judith" painted somewhat of a false portrait of the band, mostly because that song is the most Tool-like thing (both lyrically and musically) to be found here (and, as such, the most commercially profitable). The rest of the album is an exercise in moody melodicism, a musical vehicle that occasionally shifts into high gear but complements these bouts of speed with more relaxed, laid-back, and introspective passages. For instance, the album opener "The Hollow" is a rather fast-paced number, punctuated by Tim Alexander's driving percussion (official drummer Josh Freese takes control of the set for the remainder of the album) and guitarist Billy Howerdel's tuneful yet almost robotic guitar parts. On the other hand, there are moments like "3 Libras" where the sublime, mellow aspect of the band comes into focus in all its ethereal, string-laden glory (courtesy of Paz and Lucia Lenchantin on violin and viola, respectively).Where the band really shines, though, is when these two distinct halves merge to create one majestically hypnotic whole.Songs such as "Orestes" (a mythologically themed song about the titular character's need to slay his mother for what she has done to his father), the Biblical, Eastern-drenched companion pieces "Magdalena" and "Rose," and "Sleeping Beauty" (a mournful study in hopelessness and harsh realities) all maintain a slow simmer of aggression that sometimes bubbles over but remains constantly enthralling.Still, placid moments like the melodic bass riff that opens the beautiful "Brena" (which also builds to a rather thunderous crescendo) and the tinkling piano that drives the largely instrumental "Over" never fail to grab my attention, nor does the Middle Eastern treasure "Renholder."Coincidentally, the two songs that bookend the latter are, in my eyes, the low points of the CD.That said, a low point here is all relative. The bubbling bassline, soaring chorus, and brilliant bridge of "Thinking of You," wherein the titular line is repeated on a loop over top an ever-increasing amount of background segments (including the only musical appearance of credited band member Troy Van Leeuwen) are infectiously memorable, as is the unorthodox melody and vocal styling that drives "Thomas."Even so, these songs are my least favorite among such a golden selection of eclectic music. All in all, "Mer de Noms" is a stunning example of genre amalgamation gone oh-so-right.With the fundamentals of rock combined with the grit of alternative metal, the subtler sensibilities of industrial, and brains of progressive experimentalism, everything falls into place with surprisingly little struggle. The end result is not only a well-crafted album that transcends easy categorization, but also living proof that simply because an artist is in two bands doesn't necessarily make them clones.Thankfully, this is only the beginning of A Perfect Circle's catalogue of wonderous music. ... Editorial Review

Gillian Welch has captured the ethos of mountain music in a way that few lowlanders have managed, and that's just a little disconcerting. Outsiders aren't supposed to be able to infiltrate tight-knit clans. Producer T-Bone Burnett creates intimacy by recording Welch live with a small cast of supporting players, including Welch's partner, David Rawlings. While many of the songs are built around duo acoustic guitars and two-part harmonies, Burnett spices up a few of them up with some neat tricks, mixing an upright bass above the vocals on "Pass You By" and getting a fat, dirty sound out of three instruments. Welch's vocals, meanwhile, are stoical and matter-of-fact as her songs, which are infused with a repressed dread and contrition that's utterly convincing. White gospel tunes like "Orphan Girl" and "By the Mark" feel as if they were culled from hymnals, yet they were written when Clinton, not Coolidge, was president. Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars melancholy
True Gillian Welch sound and soul...but a bit more melancholy than I expected. Good for those times when you want to feel quiet and philisophical...not good for those days when you just want to dance!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars very much enjoyed
Gillian Welch has a beautiful voice and sings bluegrass country music well. Our whole family has enjoyed it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Splendid
This is truly a "splendid" CD, I had not heard of Gillian Welch until Amazon reccomended it several times. I finally listened to the sample tracts and really liked her voice. This is a great addition to anyones music collection, especially if you are a folk song lover.

Editorial Review

It's an irresistible concept: Wayne "The Train" tearing it up on 14 original juke joint/swing tunes backed by a raw, first-rate band. He's got the assets to make it work: sharp, incisive vocals, fresh numbers, Lloyd Maines as producer, and an awesome recording band featuring the blazing lead guitar of veteran Hancock sideman Eddie Biebel, guest guitarists Paul Skelton and Dave Biller, and non-pedal steel guitarist Eddie Rivers. By avoiding self-conscious imitation (a pitfall that's done in many acts inspired by the past), they often come fetchingly close to capturing the feel of any number of obscure '40s Texas honky-tonk 78s: swinging out on "Tulsa," down and dirty on "Drinkin' Blues" and the Ernest Tubb-inspired "I Don't Care Anymore" and "Goin' Home Blues," and the earthy "Brother Music, Sister Rhythm." Given Hancock's often-stated affinity for Bob Wills-style swing, the sole disappointment is the scarcity of those sorts of songs here. With a group of musicians this dynamic, a few more rip-roaring moments would have been welcome. Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Can't fault the music
I like it.I really do.The music is great. One of things I really, really, like about Wayne is that he always plays with five-star musicians and it makes a HUGE difference.I'm just not completely sure that he needs to keep recording CD's that are entirely or mostly made up of his own compositions. Not that he's not above-average, but a theme is one thing and repetition is another. The music is great and the songs are good, but maybe not so distinct from one another, or particularly distinguishable from anything he's already recorded.I still recommend it, though.

5-0 out of 5 stars Tulsa is the album for me!!!
Well worth the wait! Wayne's been playing many of these songs at his shows for a while now and I've been dying to get this album. It did not disappoint.Every track is solid, and like all of Wayne's albums, there is no filler here.Do yourself a favor and get this album now! It will prove to you that REAL music still exists.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Train does it again!
I got this a couple of days early because I pre-ordered and recieved it a tad early. All I can say is WOW.This is a classic album, The Train & the band are firing on all cylinders with this album. There's not one bad cut on this album. This is genuinely REAL swingin' Honky Tonk Music that would even have Bob Wills & Hank Williams get up and do jig.

5-0 out of 5 stars Covers all the sides of one of rock's greatest bands...
For a greatest hits collection, I've rarely come across one thats as good as this. If your looking to get into them, start here, it gives you all things pumpkins. I never owned any of their stuff, so if your like me and want too get a taste of them, this is the best place to start IMO. This album basically goes through all the stages that the pumpkins went through in their career. Some fans prefer different era's of the band, but this collection has all of them on here. It goes from there early stuff to when they started experimenting with electronica on the last few albums. I personally like it all, and I can start the album and let it play all the way through. I really like the flow and pace of it. If your a big pumpkins fan, this album isn't for you since you have all the albums anyways, I wouldn't say that this adds anything you don't have (unless you buy the Limited edition that has a 2ndb-side disc..). This album is for those who don't own a pumpkins album, like I was prior to purchasing this.If you were like me, buy this album, it really does give you all aspects of the pumpkins. I can honestly say that since I've listened to this album many times, I have alot more respect for the Smashing Pumpkins, they truly are one of rocks greatest bands.

3-0 out of 5 stars Wow!!!!
I can tell you some of my favorite's are missing: Muzzle, I am One,Crestfallen, Try,Try,Try , Rocket. I know it dosn't sound like a lot but if they had put in all the greatest songs it would have gone like this.
5-0 out of 5 stars Very good...I'm getting more albums!
The Smashing Pumpkins are amazing.Really, they are.Back in the early nineties, when I was about 4 or 5 years old, my older brother used to listen to The Smashing Pumpkins. Now, about a dozen years later, I listened to the sample of "1979" and was blown away by a wave of wondrous nostalgia.

Modern folk and blues rarely sounds as inventive and colorful as the Wood Brothers' spare, soothing studio debut. Currents of jazz, pop, and country also ripple through these 12 lovely arrangements built around Chris Wood's upright bass (previously heard in Medeski, Martin & Wood) and Oliver Wood's gentle acoustic and electric guitars. It's not simply that the brothers' sweet, high voices have the genetic gift of close harmony: they're in absolute synch creatively, too. So when one's singing lingers over a lazy phrase in a number like the languid ode to living "Chocolate on My Tongue," the other hangs back on his instrument until just the right, complementary moment. Drummer Kenny Wollesen, who plays on a handful of tracks, is on the same wavelength--never rushing or pushing the Woods' behind-the-beat sensibility. And the rich dark tones of the bass and, in particular, slide guitars perfectly illuminate their unhurried stories about spiritual discovery and the trials of life. All of which makes Read more

On its seventh album--and first without founding member Brian "Head" Welch--Korn makes a few changes and gets on with proving that it's still a viable force within the world of heavy rock. The venerable veterans lean on outside help from the songwriting team of the Matrix and producer Atticus Ross (Nine Inch Nails). The end result is that this is a big change for Korn and one that will garner large shares of message board controversy on wether this album is more industrial than nü. The band is at its deftest on "Getting Off," "Politics" and "Coming Undone," which highlight the industrial bend. Stalwart fans need not worry for "Liar" and "For No One" remain in lock-step with classic Korn. One need not listen to the full hour-plus to discover flaws. Its center becomes weighed down with bland mid-tempo numbers and the final song detracts from the powerhouse close the record might have had they ended with "Interlude #3/I've Seen It All." Still, Korn has demonstrated that it's capable of weathering the storm and emerging with an album that will carry them onward.Read more

I've been a huge Korn fan for a while now and i've just gotta say that they're an amazingly good numetal band! To last all these years and still be coming out with great music is pretty incredible and it's something not alot of bands can do these days.

This album shows Korn playing almost a different style of music. It is more fast and not as dark as some of their past albums. But it is still korn, and although head is no longer in the band, munky really stepped it up, playing cool riffs along with jonathan davis's awesome vocals. although it is different, it still has that kickass feel to it and the songs are great. ... This 1991 Seattle supergroup brought together Chris Cornell and Matt Cameron of Soundgarden with the surviving members of Mother Love Bone (Jeff Ament, Stone Gossard) and Eddie Vedder, later of Pearl Jam. The experiment worked. Cornell shines, seeming more comfortable here on this tribute to his former roommate and deceased MLB lead singer Andrew Wood than with his own band. "Hunger Strike" and "Say Hello 2 Heaven" combine glam and grunge better than anything in Love Bone's catalog, while "Wooden Jesus" is less didactic than anything in Pearl Jam's oeuvre. Most of the songs may be about loss and addiction, but this is compelling music for black days. Read more

Temple Of The Dog (1991.), the first and only release from the Temple Of The Dog grunge supergroup
5-0 out of 5 stars Unforgettable...
I bought this as a tape when I was a broke kid in the nineties having never heard a single track but already being a fan of Pearl Jam, Nirvana, and Soundgarden. This was a big risk for my empty wallet and the best purchase I ever made. With this album I fell in love with Chris Cornell as a songwriter and his voice became etched in my head. This music has been described as getting you through black days, well it took me through high school and some crazy turmoil. To this day, about 12 yrs. later every lyric is ingrained in my memory and evokes the same feeling. This is the best I own to this day and I've had to update a bit and buy the CD too. I guess you could call it an album worth buying twice, take that for what its worth.

5-0 out of 5 stars Compelling music for black days
Temple of the Dog was a one-off project which was started when Soundgarden's Christ Cornell and Matt Cameron hooked up with Mother Love Bone members Jeff Ament and Stone Gossard, as well the then-unknown vocalist Eddie Vedder and guitarist Mike McCready. Some of these members would later go on to form Pearl Jam and upon releasing their highly acclaimed debut Ten, this would also reflect on the sales of Temple of the Dog, parachuting the release to platinum status.

4-0 out of 5 stars MB20 Is Someone Like You
Southern rock band: Matchbox 20 made their Mainstream debut with YOURSELF OR SOMEONE LIKE YOU. The album was released in late 1996, and it was a major breakthrough in the sound of popular rock. Vocalist Rob Thomas fronted the rhythm section with gritty and yet very melodic lines. His sound and style is what would have made or broke the band. Luckily, Thomas' sound was a style people liked and were soon in demand for. Single after single, and performance after performance, the public could not get enough of the band's southern gritty rock. It is quite clear that Thomas' parts are the foundation to the band, and all the other instruments' parts are written to fit his sound. The end result is a standard I-IV-V progression with a passing chord thrown in here and there, but the guitar, bass, drums, and keyboards are in sync with each other almost perfectly. Dynamics are a big trait with this group, and the musicians know how to use this aspect just right for their pieces. YOURSELF OR SOMEONE LIKE YOU is a good record and one for any Matchbox 20 fan.

5-0 out of 5 stars Another vote for Emmylou's voice....
I definitely agree, that listening to the best of this CD, is pure heaven...and to my ears, if you buy this beautiful album, just enable the following cuts and listen to them over.....and over...that's heaven....
5-0 out of 5 stars To touch the heart.
The fact that Emmylou Harris is breathtakingly beautiful distracts only very slightly from her amazing grace as a singer. She is truly touched and truly moving.

4-0 out of 5 stars One fault---this needed to be a two-disk set!
Otherwise, it's wonderful.Really does span the years, but I think there are some places where more emphasis is needed and would have preferred to see a second disk to do it. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars GOOD but NOT GREAT
After their dissapointing Away From The Sun, I though theres no hope for this band but this cd actually aint half bad. Its easy to listen to so i wouldnt call it hard rock, its just good ol fashioned rock n roll. After hearing the first track, Right Where I belong i was lead to believe that the rest of the album was going to be just as fast and heavy, BOY was i mistaken. The album after that is soft but theres some good songs : Landing In London, Fathers Son, Never will i break. This style is ok but gets tiresome and I just want to see 3dd return to the sound employed on their first album: The Better Life (instead of a radio friendly approach for the masses which is what theve unfortunately taken)...oh well maybe next time.

5-0 out of 5 stars "Seventeen Days" is excellent!
"Seventeen Days" is excellent! An excellent CD from 3 Doors Down.
4-0 out of 5 stars Great Cd For Rock music lovers
I first heard of them when i herad the song "Kryptonite" which i am sure everyone has heard. I liked that song right away. This is a great album. My favorite tracks are Let Me Go, Be Somebody, Right Where I belong, and The Real Life. Give those tracks a listen and you will like this CD too. ... Read more

Editorial Review

Overwhelmed by sudden success, Nirvana promised to take a harsher, more abrasive route on their second major-label release. Enlisting Chicago-based noise maven Steve Albini (of Big Black fame), Kurt Cobain and company succeeded in producing a record that was violent, disillusioned, and deeply moving. Every song reads like a commentary on the cost of fame ("Serve the Servants") and the unhealthy relationship between performer and fan ("Milk It"). Of course, they might all simply be about Courtney Love. Gossip aside, there is no denying the sheer power of Cobain's songwriting, his singing, and the band's amazing, visceral power. Cobain even manages a John Lennon-like mantra at the end of the heart-wrenching "All Apologies." "All in all is all we are," he intones repeatedly, only for Cobain that's no consolation. Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Was Nirvana the best band of the 90's? I think so............
That's a defensible argument, though not without its serious flaws. You could argue Nirvana were the most important band if you ignore Public Enemy and NWA, maybe.
5-0 out of 5 stars One of the great rock albums
Actually, the title of my review doesn't truly represent my opinion of this album. For me, this is the holy grail of all albums. Am I surprised that Nirvana would end up writing my all-time favourite album ever? Not at all. After hearing "Nevermind", it was clear that Cobain and the rest of the group had a true talent for writing music. However, the one thing that did surprise me was that the album that would leave such an impression on me would sound like this.
5-0 out of 5 stars I Hate This Album, but I Listen To It Every Week
"In Utero" is painful to listen to.The noise hurts my ears. The "music" if you can call it music, is pure trash, and yet, this album is my favorite Nirvana album.

5-0 out of 5 stars GREAT ALBUM!!!
Leave in a Whisper is an awesome album by possibly one of the greatest bands of its era. The singer has an incredibly powerful voice and the music is unbelieveable. If I could only listen to five albums of my choice for the rest of my life this would definitly be one of them.

4-0 out of 5 stars A Great Rock Filled Album
This is a great cd full of rock. At first when I skimed through it I feared that I woulnt care for it that much but I guess I was wrong. It really is a great album that really desearves much more attention. My personal favorite on this album is 'Fly From The Inside'. But there are others on this ablum that are just as good as well. This is really worth the buy, it truly is a great album.

5-0 out of 5 stars Burning Bright Indeed...
What a amazing album. It's strange because when this album came out, I passed it over.I liked the singles, "Burning Bright," "Fly From the Inside," and "45."But it was only recently that I checked out the whole album, mostly because of the rave reviews on this page. And boy I'm glad I did. You might think that the album can't live up to the strength that the singles bring. The singles are all fantastic songs, I especially like the raw emotion of 45, but the rest of the album really delivers. Nothing on the album seems like filler, and while that may sound cliche, its true.

Editorial Review

Named in honor of the three-word codes used by short-wave radio operators, Wilco's fourth album sounds like a late-night broadcast of some weirdly wonderful pop station punctuated by static and the sonic bleed of competing signals. Songs that begin with simple, elegiac grace--"Ashes of American Flags" and "Poor Places"--end in a cathartic squall of distortion. The results can be initially jarring, but it's these tracks more than the sturdy jangle pop of "Kamera" or "Heavy Metal Drummer" that demand, and reward, repeated listens. Mixed by studio experimentalist Jim O'Rourke and produced by the band, Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Intense emotional beauty
If you don't like this album, you're missing the point. It took me a while to get into it, but its one of those CD's that, when you finally do get it, becomes infinitely rewarding because you feel like you've unlocked something.Give it a few listens, and somehow the superficial ordinary pop will simply melt into something truly powerful and moving. There's no excuse for not appreciating the tremendous beauty and warmth of this album. It captures some ideas and emotions beautifully, and it also has something that just feels classic about it, as if it somehow fits with the albums of Bob Dylan, The Band, Neil Young, and The Beatles, as the product review wants you to believe.Believe it-- this is truly a classic.

1-0 out of 5 stars soft
Wilco is basically just a really soft band that could use a bit more pep if you ask me. I tend to like soft music just fine, but the songs on this CD simply don't have good melodies to offer. If you happen to like Wilco anyway in spite of my review, check out Golden Smog, because they're similar to Wilco but infinitely better. P.S. The cover art is the best part.

5-0 out of 5 stars Breathtaking...
This album is amazing. It took me about 3 listens in order to fully appreciate the album, so don't give up on it if you don't get it at first.I listened to it so much that I wore out my first copy and had to buy a second."Jesus, Etc." and "Ashes of American Flags" are two of the best Wilco songs ever made.Jeff Tweedy is at his best.I'd also suggest watching the documentary "I am Trying to Break Your Heart," which chronicles to making of the album and the troubles that went along with it.It gave me a new appreciation for my favorite artist. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Amazing.
Blondie is one of the greatest and most important bands in the history of pop/rock to have ever existed. While Grace Slick might have predated one-time Playboy bunny/vocalist Deborah Harry, Ms. Harry still set all of the standards as far as any future women in rock. She showed that it was possible for an extremely attractive female to front an all male backing band and do it with style, sex appeal and genuine raw talent while not coming across as a tramp.
5-0 out of 5 stars The best Blondie compilation out there
With a few options available for you to get your hands on Blondie's greatest hits, and pretty much little new to say about the guys that blended punk and new wave to perfection in their time, the one thing that can be claimed about this compilation is that it's the best one available. It covers pretty much everything you'd want to have by the band and the quality of the recordings is also the best one around.

5-0 out of 5 stars Iconic Memory Of Blondie Still Extent!
The works of Blondie are paragons of the new-wave punk genre on their own without any help of compilation or amassing, but the main priority needed to be mentioned is how one can adequately mix these supreme works of sound and emotion into such a phenomenal and superior mix, as an impressive result; "Blondie's Greatest Hits". From the disco upbeat of "Heart Of Glass" to the romanticly provocative single "Denis", from the tropical flare of "The Tide Is High" to the industrial beats and vocals of "The Hardest Part", this album mix, in the entirety of my life of being a Blondie aficionado and music collector, is one that surpasses any limit of Blondie's quality and proficiency, portraying to the world of their appeal, greatness and utter legacy. ...
