WTF?!?!?!?!?!?!?
DUDE?!?! What happened, when i heard about a new Zombie cd i was like O YEA! and then when i heard foxy foxy i was like WTF?? What happened to Hellbilly and Sinister kind of music?? I dont know what happened but, I'll admit theres a few decent songs like Let It All Bleed Out and The Scorpion Sleeps, but WTF?!?!?!?!?
Don't Overlook This One!
OK, ok.Typical Rob Zombie it ain't.I agree.If you love his solo work up to this point and his White Zombie stuff, as I do, you do have a certain expectation about what a Zombie (Rob or White) album will deliver.But Zombie's a creative creature, and that's why I love this album.He's too creative to stick with that hot rod drivin' demon conception forever.And this album proves he can move beyond that.He keeps a lot of the similar, horror based track concepts, but this is less a metal album and much more a hard rock album.It still has loads of the atmosphere that Zombie is quite good at creating, but it's got a lot of groove that really comes across very well.That said, there are still some tracks that sound a little like classic Zombie."Let it All Bleed Out" would fit well on any of his other albums, as would a few others.It's the more unique and clever approaches to songs like "The Devil's Rejects" that make the album unique.Bottom line, if you're willing to let Rob take you in a different direction, this is a very strong album.If you just can't bear Rob trying something a little different, it's not for you.But give it a couple of listens before you condemn this album for its variance from traditional Zombie.

Horrible
I've been a Zombie fan since somewhere between 94-96 and have seen him 3 times in concert.I am disappointed I went last month to see him with Godsmack and regret wasting the $110 and going out in hurrican Ernesto rain.He has sold out with the Red White & Blue theme and I am tired of him speeding up all his old good songs and no bass.And for you guys that haven't been to this tour yet ROB DID 3 COVER SONGS. UGH!Sweet Dreams and a Van Halen song I dind't know haha and Hendrix's Star Stangled Banner. He even made the sucky Educated Horses linger way too long by playing it at 2 diferrent times. I was mortified.

Best Rammstein album to date
Forget about being mostly B-sides from Reise,Reise, which was awsome in its own right. "Rosenrot" takes Rammstein in a whole new direction and I certainly hope they stay down the road this ablum has started them. Now to be fair I am of the opinion that every Rammstein ablum has been better than its predecessor.Sehnsucht was topped by Mutter which was topped by Reise Reise which was topped by this album.So their next album might be better than "Rosenrot" but that would be asking a lot. Its hard to find a bad song on this album, okay maybe Stirb Nicht Vor Mir . And the great ones like ,Mann Gegen Mann, Wo Bist Du, and the title track are Rammsteins best songs yet. But the true standout on this album has to be Feuer und Wasser. Slow at first but when it gets going it is sheer brilliance. Move over Reise Reise, your B-sides just took center stage. With Rammstein it matters not whether you understand the lyrics or not, they are that good.

Great overall, 2 exceptions..
My favorite track is right out of the gate with Benzin, gets the blood flowing.Title track is good also. All good stuff with the exception of 2, my opinion. Stirb Nicht Vor Mir (Don't Die Before I Do)should be tossed.Te Quiero Puta! the reviewer below thinks is a "wonder" (yeah, I'm sure wonderin'), and a "top track" ???? Ya gotta be kiddin...That track finds new lower levels in the basement depths of Stupid.Ughhh...F'ing awful!!Good thing the rest of this CD rocks.

A classic greatist hits package.
Listening to this album reminds me of flipping through the pages of an old "Famous Monsters of Filmland" magazine. When I hear Rob Zombie, I hear echos of a man enfluenced by Horror Films, Aurora Monster Models, Old "Creepy" and "Eerie" magazines from the 1970's, "The Munsters" and all the old stuff that pop culture threw at kids growing up in the 1960's and 70's. His music contains all those elements mixed up on his palet and comes up with some really interesting and entertaining stuff.The only way I can describe Rob Zombie's music is if you take: Kiss, ZZ-Top, Frank Zappa, Tom Waits and Alice Cooper, throw it in a blender, mix it up and then pour it into a skull shaped mug.

Some new stuff with an older sound
Sounds a lot like Pretty Hate Machine.Lots of good songs here, but most of them are more suited as background music.Not too many jump out and grab your attention.Does not even compare to Downward Spiral which is a timeless masterpiece.

A More Mature Nihilism
Last Christmas my grandmother sent me some money, and this album is one of the things I bought.Having had no exposure to NIN (except through music videos), I was taken aback by my immediate liking of this particular work.I've since obtained a copy of "The Downward Spiral", and while I find it to be fascinating--not to mention obnoxious at times--I have to admit that, at age 41, I prefer "With Teeth", which is more advanced both lyrically and musically.Mr. Reznor's prodigious anger has thankfully been somewhat tempered by his new-found penchant for intelligent reflection and, yes, emotional growth. That's not to say that he's gotten boring.His innate talent precludes that.There are some genuinely beautiful melodies here to go along with his improved singing voice, but--not to worry--there's also the residual self-hatred, self-absorption, and loathing for existence shared by all nihilists.I like to think that I have a little man that lives inside of me.His name is Trent Reznor.

Turning on the light in a dark room
The liner for this compilation pretty much sums it up. Goth music was created in the UK by people who watched the late night creature feature and who read Shelly, Stoker,etc. Some of these artists were romantics and some wanted to be like Alice Cooper (Nik Fiend).

So gothic it's undead
I am completely pleased to see something like this come out in the year 2006. For those who are just discovering gothic rock, and for us seasoned veterans, this collection is exceptional. I do have some bones with it...AFI is a good band but hardly goth. And where are bands like Inkubus Sukkubus? Die Laughing? Switchblade Symphony? Big Electric Cat? The Shroud? Ofra Haza? And they certainly could have picked a better Neubauten song!! But I digress...this is a great collection. The DVD rocks, the music rocks. Check it out for yourself. ... Read more

Boring -- Beware the "musical" snobs
I'm sure that hard-core Rammstein-lovers will slam my review by checking "not useful" simply because they love the album and want to hammer me, but they are not who I am writing this review for. This is for people who, like me, who don't care who the artist is, but look for a certain type of music.
Simply Phenomenal
Fresh from their 2001 masterpiece "Mutter", German industrial metal merchants Rammstein return with a bang with their phenomenally epic 2004 masterpiece entitled "Reise, Reise". Not a single word can truly describe how phenomenal this album is. From beginning to end, this album will no doubt take you on an epic breathtaking journey that you'll leave you breathless, and sometimes bring tears to your eyes. Every song on here is simply awesome. Till Lindemann's vocals are just absolutely awesome and very enchanting. Paul Landers and Richard Z. Kruspe-Bernstein's guitar riffs are tight, crisp, and very menacing. Doktor Christian Lorenz's keyboardwork is great, and Oliver Riedel's bass, and Christoph "Doom" Schneider's drumming are all good as well.

Took me years to get it....
Okay, I will admit that I COMPLETELY SLAGGED this album off in my With Teeth review. The truth is, I didn't "get" this album until today. You see, I am going through a rather terrible break up right now, so the whole theme of "putting your life back together" from a state of complete and utter isolation finally registered with me on a more cerebral and personal level. One of the reasons why I originally hated this album was because I was an avid Downward Spiral fan. To me, that album was pure aural bliss and brilliance. On that record, Trent took the harshness of old school industrial acts like Throbbing Gristle and SPK and combined it with conventional album rock like Pink Floyd and David Bowie. And I always enjoyed the albums that Trent did with Marilyn Manson, too, but when The Fragile came out I was like... wtf. It just didn't register with me. I understood that it was supposed to be a more epic and introspective record, but what I didn't understand was that the entire album was one big therapeutic process for Trent. In other words, this is not an album that could be the soundtrack to Tetsuo: The Iron Man or anything, it strips away all of the layers and there is a lot of frailty and humanity in these songs, hence the title "The Fragile." Don't be a fool like me and expect a barrage of fuzz guitars and scrapping metal effects on this record.
One of the most well crafted and atmospheric journey's into a double disc album
Sure their are a few forgettable tracks(Starf***ers comes to mind), and the album is more of the type where you have to sit down and listen from left to right to get the whole picture, but this is Trent Reznor's masterpiece, forget The Downward Spiral.

I traded in all my Rammstein Albums, save this one. I don't listen to it often, but it is still a masterpiece.

Best Rammstein album so far
This was the first Rammstein album I listened to.Powerful sound and perfectly matched vocals blew me away. Surprisingly, ballads of this album have the same strong force that drives each song.The music is skillfully mixed such that loud sound does not irritate your ear drums.And you would want to turn up the volume listening to Mutter.From powerful Feuer frei! to mellower Links 234 and Mutter the album is strong, bold and saturated with heavy and uncompromising sound.I was not very impressed with previous albums and very disappointed with later ones: Reise, Reise and Rosenrot. ... A masters work.
In my mind this is one of those albums that should be issued to everyone the moment that they become an angsty teenager.I'm going to be very biased as this is one of the first cd's I ever bought upon finding it used at the local record store, but its also one of the few albums that I still enjoy listening to after all this time.
This one kicked it off
This is techno after a long line of coke.The first song, Head Like a Hole, is probably my favorite song NIN ever did.Terrible Lie is probably my 2nd choice of this album (a distant 2nd.)This album is good, but kind of soft.It one of those albums that if your in the mood for it, you think it is the best album ever, but if your not, it will get on your nerves.Honestly, the album is worth buying just for Head Like a Hole.This album blends together with their album Broken to give us The Downward Spiral, which is, in my opinion, by far their best overall album.

The novelty was stripmined from ethnobeat pop long ago, and this skin-deep confection is surprising only in its lack of edge and invention. On the plus side, the melodies are textured and lush, the beats entrancing, and a parade of gifted singers--Kristy Thirsk, Jacqui Hunt, and Sarah McLachlan included--bill and coo impressively. Excellent Simply Excellent!
"Karma" is a great CD and next to "Enigma's MCMXC A.D." (the best) is one of the top new age ambient electronic CD's of the 90's.Karma does hold its own and is enchanting from start to finish! "Relax" from Blank & Jones and "Levitation" from Digital Moodz and Conjure One's "Extraordinary Ways" are also great newer choices.

Better than all the artists they rip off
They rip off everyone, from Enigma to Deep Forest to Dead Can Dance. And the result is much better than any album by any of those artists (with the exception of Dead Can Dance, of course). There are moments of spellbinding beauty in songs like "Duende" (my absolute favorite) and "Forgotten Worlds", where they sample Lisa Gerrard's voice. And the Sarah McLachlan collaboration is exceptional. If you are into the Enigma/Deep Forest/B-tribe genre, this album will blow you away.

Every nerve like a firefly...
In all honesty, I'm fairly new to the new age genre.I only first discovered an interest in it about a year and a half ago, with the purchase of Enya's Watermark album.Since then, I have also discovered some very talented artists like Vangelis, Loreena McKennitt, Sheila Chandra and personal favorite Enigma.One thing about all of these artists is that their music has truly stood the test of time. In addition, they've been known to transcend their genre from time to time, often adding in new elements not before seen in the world of new age.However, there is one more artist that could very well be the most innovative of them all.That is Delerium.

A mental breakdown, set to audio.
"The Downward Spiral" consistently ranks as one of the best albums of the 1990's, and it's not difficult to see why. All of Nine Inch Nail's albums are at least good, but TDS is (so far) their... er, his best. This album is an industrial classic. So many great tracks.
Pure perfection
The Downward Spiral takes you on a journey, nuff said. Very few albums, especially today, pull you in and take you on a ride that pulls out all of your emotions. You'll cringe, get teary-eyed, but in the end you're relieved you got through it. This is pure intensity with absolutely beautiful melodies.

Finland’s His Infernal Majesty (H.I.M.) has managed to release a solid, if not wholly overwhelming album. Listening to vocalist Ville Valo work his magic on the title tune, where he bridges the distance between Bono and Bowie, you almost believe you’re listening to one of the great voices, maybe even great bands, of the age. The sharp, hook-laden tunes such as "Killing Loneliness," "Vampire Heart" and "Rip Out The Wings Of A Butterfly" only seem to confirm that initial spark of discovery. However, the brilliance evident at the beginning barely stretches to the halfway mark. "The Face Of God" and "Drunk On Shadows" are little more than hooks around which other things happen rather than the promising, fully realized material found at the album’s start. I love this album.Amazing melodies, memorable lyrics, and top notch production that creates a recording that is near perfect. I have all of HIM's previous recordings and they have their high marks though this is the most complete offering.This band is simply fantastic and so is this album.

The Best Band You Dont Know About
I discovered HIM by accident while watching the OzzFest 10th Anniversary TV documentary.There was a set from this band from Finland and it took me all of about 15 seconds to recognize the talent of the lead singer Ville Vallo. The band was HIM.Make no mistake, his haunting lyrics and voice are unique and truly special and are the driving force behind this band.His persona perfectly represents that battle in every person of light and dark that is the storyline of the bands music.He is the show.I have listened to every recording of this band and everything they put out is really good. "Dark Light" is a natural evolution.Not everybody likes evolution but for me that is what makes music great and thus this ranks as HIMs best work.Making music is like a construction project and this record is far more complicated and ambitious than anything previous.Comparing it to the bands initial release is like comparing a single story building to a skyscraper!The guitar, drums, keyboarding etc are all much more complex and crisp than previous recordings.IMO the band has finally caught up to the bar that the lead singer set from the beginning.

Good Industrial-Metal
This Rob's best album,more darker & heavier than "The Sinister Urge" and "Educated Horses".My favourite song is "Return Of The Phantom Stranger",but all song is good (except one-two fillers).Most powerful track is Dragula and Superbeast,but the hardest is "What Lurks On Channel X ?".Good guitar riffs,with techno sound,and monotonic drums is characteristics on this cd...the vocal's not bad.If you like White Zombie,you'll like this album.

"What are you thinking about?"
I was first hooked onto Rob Zombie after hearing 'Living Dead Girl' off the 'Psycho' remake soundtrack.I was floored at the eerie vibe that could be acheived through his music.Then I heard 'Dragula' and decided that I needed this album.From start to finish Rob Zombie delivers, and this is by far his best album.Sinister Urge just didn't do much for me and had an overall poppy feel to it that was a huge dissapointment.This album though is far from pop and delivers on all fronts, from killer brutal tracks like 'Meet the Creeper' and 'Demonoid Phenomenon' to eerie numbers like 'Living Dead Girl', 'Ballad of Ressurection Joe..' and one of my personal favorites, 'Spookshow Baby'In the end Hellbilly Deluxe is a must have for any fan of White Zombie or Horror Movies and should be in heavy rotation on your CD player. ... One of the greater HIM albums.
This is the cd that first introduced me to HIM. Although that was before it came out in the US. With this cd you get a great blend of the Love Metal HIM is known for also with slower ballads. Join Me is a great song of love and questioning what you would do for it. In my opinion Razorblade Romance is a cd any HIM fan should have in there collection.

H.I.M. is one of the GREATEST band ever!!!!!!!!!!!
This band rocks no matter what anyone says. This is another band that sticks out and sounds different. Ville has a great voice, oh hell all the members of H.I.M. rock. No one should ever say this band sucks cause this is one band that has talent.

For the HIM-obsessed only
With half the disc being less-interesting versions of songs Ville's come out with before, this disc is only for the truly hardcore-fans of HIM. I still enjoy listening to this CD from time to time, and there are some OK songs on the disc that I hadn't heard of before, but if you're looking to expand your HIM Horizon beyond "Join Me" and "Wicked Game," this disc is not for you. If you're looking to delve into remakes and a few extra newbies (which aren't as good as his typical stuff, IMHO) then maybe you might get something out of this one. Disappointing
Most of the music on this album is very good, however, the vocals and lyrics leave a lot to be desired. The vocals are distorted because let's face it, Bryan can't sing or write good lyrics. Another low point is movie samples. There is nothing more pleasant than hearing low quality samples with background noise, and static in your music. The worst song is "Lust" - same guitar riff for 3 minutes, and very uninspired lyrics. The instrumental tracks are excellent though.

Magnum Opus
Lust For Blood is easily the most diverse VAC album to date.Arguable, the best, as well.It easily outshines Hex Angel and Twisted Thought Generator.
Like a wound that won't stop bleeding...
VAC has really impressed me with this one... I was fearing it may be worse than 2003's "Hex Angel" (good album but weak for VAC standards if you ask me). I'm happy to report that this album really delivers. You will find Bryan trying all kinds of genres here (rock, synth pop, trance, EBM, industrial) and there are some real stand outs here. My personal favorites would be the 3 instrumentals: Ghost in the Circuit, Psychoactive Landscape and Ghost Regen. VAC has become something really special in the electronic music world. ... Read more

The Way to Succeed...
...and the Way to Suck Eggs.That's the rest of the title, and it's accurate in its "love it or lump it" attitude: there's no in-between ground with music this intense, you're either in or out.If you think Rob Zombie could stand to be heavier, Nine Inch Nails should be a little less sensitive, or Rammstein should try to be less German, than this is exactly what you're looking for.Ministry have several damn good albums, including their last two releases, but this is their definitive statement, to be locked in a time capsule for future generations to learn how to just get angry.Hardcore enough for punks, metal enough for headbangers, and your parents WILL hate it more than your Korn CDs.

Artificial Stimulus
In the annals of the FLA aesthetic, Artificial Soldier fits somewhere in between Implode and Epitaph which isn't necessarily a bad thing but it lacks the artistic maturity that made 2004's epic Civilization a creative breakthrough for FLA and is a regression back to the steady-state mediocrity before Rhys Fulber made his long-awaited return to the band. It's more of the same-old same-old which, if you're a long-time fan is very pacifying but from a creative standpoint reverts FLA backwards to a temporal state of stylistic redundancy. With Jean-Luc De Meyer of Front 242 providing vocals on Future Fail, for a second there he almost had me fooled into believing that this was a new Front 242 album. I've always been a fan of both FLA and Front 242 and conceptually it's an inevitable crossover but considering the fact that 2003's Pulse was a disappointing comeback Jean-Luc De Meyer needs to just go and make a new 242 album instead of making guest appearances on other band's albums like he's the Snoop Dogg of industrial music. Eskil Simonsson from Covenant also appears on The Storm and while it's a refreshing change-up from Bill Leeb's menacing vocals it feels more like a remix cut rather than a genuine FLA construct. What FLA needs right now is an injection of its own raw dopamine to reinvigorate its stalled creative stimulus and get itself back on the inspired artistic movement it wasn't afraid of risking with Civilization instead of churning out algorithmic artifice of itself.

A real industrial treat
Those of us who are into EBM/Industrial/techno/etc. are usually left in the cold when it comes to 'new music'. If we get one album of 'good' quality or better in a year, well... Its been a good year. Industrial and its electronic ilk are like jazz; it never really hit the mainstream spotlight, and its never really gone out of style, per se.
