5-0 out of 5 stars He deserves all the acknowledgement and a whole lot more!!!!
I truly beleive that while everyone is giving Mr. Franklin so much props for all he is doing, they leave Mr. Hammond on the sidelines where he does not belong. I've been following his career since his days with commissioned- I was impressed then and I am more and more amazed by his grace, humbleness, anointing, and God-givin talent with each and every album. So many new artists are so busy trying to get the everyday Joe-shmo to listen that their albums are filled with many up-tempo happening beats that leave the spirit unministered and unfullfilled. Not so with Mr. Hammoned. He some how appeals to everyone. He is not another Christian artist who may feel like they are are doing something because their song is played in the local club scene- Big Deal!! But I'll tell you one thing if they every did play any of these songs in the clubs people would clear out of there so fast because they would truly be convicted to get their lives together with the Lord. I've rambled enough, so Fred you keep doing what it is the Lord puts on your heart to do and I will continue to support every project you put out.

5-0 out of 5 stars This is one anointed and inspiring CD.
I feel that Pages Of Life: Chapter I and II has been one of the best projects I've heard from Fred Hammond. I feel that Fred Hammond is a prime example of how God can use an artist's music to minister to secular and non-secular artist without having to compromise the name of Jesus. Fred Hammond and RFC sings with the anointing, their songs usher up praise and worship and the message that they bring ministers to people who maybe going through difficult time. When that happens, that's when the peace of God sets in. It is the anointing that destroys every yoke. Personally, I love this tape. I listen to the studio tape at home and I listen to the live tape in my car. Glory to Glory to God.

5-0 out of 5 stars Incredible
I give this album 100 out of 10!!!! EXCELLENT album. No Weapon, Please Don't Pass Me By, Are You Ready For Your Blessing, I Wanna Know Your Ways, Jesus Is All (Remix).....the list goes on and on. This guy knows and writes quality music from the heart to the people. I think this is the best album he has done, a mix of live and studio recordings with excellent vocals and greater than great musicians (especially the drummer)... ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A perfect blend of vocal and instrumental harmony!
Being a dedicated fan of Take 6 for 10 years, I enjoy their occasional escapades away from a capella. This project is a fine example. Don't get me wrong, I agree they are best at doing the a capella thing; but having mastered the craft, it's refreshing to hear the big band sound. Some of their best work can be found on this CD(BIGGEST PART OF ME, YOU CAN NEVER ASK TO MUCH OF LOVE, IT'S GONNA RAIN,etc.). 'Harmony' featuring Queen Latifah, should have been released as a single. It delivers a powerful punch against racism! And with an Allstar cast rounding out numerous tracks, your listening pleasures will be fulfilled! This Grammy winner should have been nominated for Album of the Year!!!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Voices that blow U away! You're heart will thank U 4 it!
Take 6 comes on to the scene with an album that touches everyone. The legendary voices of Ray Charles, Stevie Wonder, and Queen Latifah, come to, as the album is called, "Join the Band." This group of talented gentlemen wrap you tight in their R&B tunes and when you think it can't get any better they send home with a Sweet Lullaby that leaves you wanting more. The song, "You Can Never Ask (Of Love)," is one song that has been deprived from the American audience. Its lyrics are worth its price in gold. You can't go wrong with this CD. I've had it now for four years and still love it. And the song, "You Can Never Ask (Of Love)," has become one of my all-time favorites. I've already advanced ordered Take 6's newest CD "So Cool," and if its anything like the others I own it'll be another elaborate album.

4-0 out of 5 stars Three Strikes, You're In!!!
The third in a line of successes for Take 6 was a blessing to my ears. Even though I thoroughly enjoy the a capella music of Take 6, they showed versatility with this musical endeavor. Sing songs with such greats as Stevie Wonder, Ray Charles and Queen Latifah definitely gave them an edge on the market. Biggest Part of Me took me back and showed true talent and Its Gonna Rain proved that they haven't lost the a capella touch. ... Read more

Editorial Review

From the woman who brought the triumphant and heavenly sound of Shout to the Lord 2000 to people of all denominations and races comes Darlene Zsech's next Hillsong album, All Things Are Possible. Her powerful voice accompanied by a choir, an array of brass, and a traditional rock & roll set brings the sounds of glory for the King with a groove that will catch all. It is obvious from the inspiring get-up-and-dance title track to the compassionate and comforting "In Your Hands" that Darlene knows her Savior and is passionate about sharing His good news with all. If you like praising Jesus with all your zeal and might, you won't be disappointed with this album. --Courtenay Kehn ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars All Tracks Are Wonderful
"All Things Are Possible" is an abundant praise and worship experience. Hillsongs Australia delivers the same conventional live service with a little bit funky praise and deep worship. The congregation is great. The worship leaders are remarkable which is quite different because a woman dominates the crowd, the adorable lead singer Darlene Zschech.

All tracks are wonderful except for the instrumental "Before The Throne". Among the 14 tracks, the following 13 songs are my favorites and plus factors (in order):

1st "Love You So Much" - What a great worship song! An easy song to sing - what requires is a sincere heart. An overwhelming experience that keeps your soul longing for more. An everybody's favorite!

2nd "All Things Are Possible" - Great opening song - also deserves to be the carrier song of the album. Join this high-energy song that achieved exhilarating reply from the audience. Truly, there is no other joy than praising God and knowing that He is sufficient.

3rd "So You Would Come" - This meditating song speaks about God's great love. A humble invitation to "Come to the Father...Though your gift is small'. Moving...Darlene's best!

4th "In Your Hands" - "So close I believe You're holding me now" - touching words that assures us that we are safe in His comfort...never letting us go. Remarkably inspiring! Never fail to lift up my soul.

5th "Glory To The King" - This song started from a simple guitar together with Darlene's soft voice that ended into a blessing experience. It makes me humble to hear the words "You're a father to the fatherless" - yes, all glory to you dear Father.

6th "People Get Free" - Awesome funky piece. Darlene's striking voice leads the people into a freedom of pleasing God through continuous dance and praise.

7th "Your Love" - I love this simple meditating song. With words "Your love is better than life" - it's so sweet to feel Jesus' love.

8th "The Love Of God Can Do" - Hearing this song can't help me on clapping my hands. Truly, God's love can do many wonders in our lives. For me, it always makes me smile.

9th "I Know It" - It's nice to proclaim how the Lord changed us...freed us - if you haven't known it yet, you'd better be. Executed in a groovy fashion...excellent!

10th "Can't Stop Talking" - Amazingly, the love that we encountered can't help us from sharing it to others. Trumpet-filled and full of fun!

Plus factors:

11th "I Live To Know You" - May this be our ultimate passion - to breath in desire of knowing our Savior deeper. An inspiring worship number.

12th "Lord Of All" - This long adoration song led by a male vocalist highlights our exaltation to the supreme One - the greatest among everything in life.

13th "Shelter House" - Keeping ourselves in the His covering presence brings power...and our hearts spirit-filled. Sets another groovy tune.

In general, this a magnificent album...one of a kind! Very effective in the praise and worship program. To the Hillsongs Ministries, keep on producing powerful God-centered songs. Your music is very much adored here in the Philippines. Truly, you are a blessing!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great!
I have loved this cd for many years and will always love it. The songs vary from upbeat to tradtional gospel. You go from foot stomping praise to tear jerking worship. I simply love this album!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars One of the reasons I love gospel music
This was one of the very first albums that a started to listen to as far a gospel music is concerned. My church choir learned almost song, from beginning to end every song is wonderful. If you are a gospel music fan this cd is a classic that will never grow old. John P. Kee's voice and musical genius is presented in an outstanding cd. A MUST HAVE!!!!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Now, this is the way to have "chu'ch!!!
No one in the gospel industry can touch the mighty John P. Kee in assembling and performing with the best artists in musically spreading the Christian message.

This is the first of his works that I purchased, and it is, without a doubt, my favorite.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Collaboration of Two Art Forms!
Since Kirk's debut in the mid-80s, he has always included a taste of gospel on his albums which was a clear indication that this was where his foundation lay - in the church. To have him record a full-fledged gospel album with yet another artist who has branched out, yet whose gospel foundation is also just as evident, none other than George Duke, the listener is in for an awesome surprise. The choir is wonderful but the real standout is how beautiful gospel and jazz mesh into a mesmerzing listening experience. George Duke's piano playing is positively beautiful and complements Whalum's expressive gospel sax. These musicians indeed make a joyful noise unto the Lord. Even as musical director with Whitney Houston, Kirk Whalum showed a remarkable affinity for Ms. Houston's gospel-inspired performances. I even had the privilege of hearing Mr. Whalum live and his live performances are equally exciting. If you are a gospel and jazz fan and can appreciate the blending of these two art forms, you will definitely appreciate this particular project. The audience is an excellent indication that the spirit was truly in the house. A definite plus as well as a must!

3-0 out of 5 stars Pleasant
I began listening to the music of Kirk Whalum while I was a student and he was a young musician in Austin, TX. Since then, my tastes have grown away from fusion and toward traditional jazz. However, as a collector of gospel music played by non-gospel music artists, I happily purchased Kirk Whalum's The Gospel According to Jazz. I've listened to the CD 6 or 7 times now. I find the cuts to be pleasant but generally uninspiring. While listening to the CD, I never felt the urge to scream "hallelujah" or to clap after a serious riff. It is neither heavy gospel nor heavy jazz but it is pleasant. I actually preferred those cuts with vocals over the instrumental cuts. Folks who like Wynans-type gospel will enjoy the CD. For me, if the CD were a movie, it would be a rental.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Wonderful 'Inspired' Gospel/Jazz CD
Gospel According to Jazz, Chapters 1 & 2, are outstanding projects. Kirk is an anointed artist, without a doubt.
The DVD of Chapter 2, is WONDERFUL! Artists like Jonathan
Butler/Ta-Ta Vega, Kirk's brother, Kevin/George Duke/
Paul Jackson, Jr. & Kirk's son, Kyle -- add a special
touch. ... Read more

On her major-label debut, accomplished singer Yolanda Adams effortlessly mixes the sounds of deep gospel soul and smooth R&B with contemporary jazz and rap. Not just updating black gospel music, she fearlessly revives it with contemporary music--and not in any hokey way, mind you--and a timeless, unassailably intense spirituality. --Mike McGonigal ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Yolanda's Music Soars To Great Heights!
"Mountain High, Valley Low" is one of the best pieces of music I've ever heard. Yolanda gives you both contemporary and some traditional flavor. I had the pleasure of interviewing Yolanda on my radio show in Philadelphia. She's gorgeous, humble and truly annointed.

Some of my favorite cuts include "Yeah", and up-tempo energetic and fun song. "That Name" allows Yolanda to really show her vocal range. "In The Midst Of It All" is the ultimate testimonial song. And for you R&B fans there's "Open My Heart". This is a smooth, gorgeous ballad. It reminds you of Luther Vandross' "Love Won't Let Me Wait".

"Mountain High, Valley Low" makes an excellent addition to your CD collection. Give it a listen...Trust me, you'll love it!

5-0 out of 5 stars Best Laid Out Album I Ever Heard!
Yo's first Elektra album is one the hottest Gospel album's I've ever heard. It also has the best lay out in songs from track 1 to 11 (not to mention the bonus CD-Rom Multimedia!) So let's get this straight, she starts off with some Hip-Hop/R&B typed songs (Time To Change, Yeah - both written by sisters Mary Mary) This then leads into sweet ballads (Fragile Heart, That Name) Then a little uptempo traditional Gospel (In The Midst Of It All) this leads into a beautiful R&B ballad (The Things We Do) After that we hit with some jazzy ballad type song (Open My Heart) Then the party starts with R&B/Hip-Hop (Wherever You Are) Then a lil' Latin typed Reggae song with the vocals Kelly Price as well (He'll Arrive) Clubbish R&B (Continual Praise) and then a beautiful end off with a track that I think is the best to end an album with an midtemp R&B dance track (Already Alright) Well, Yolanda really did it this time, how much hotter could this record get? It's got the styles: R&B, Jazz, Hip-Hop, Blues, Funk, Dance, Traditional, Latin and Reggae. You want more? You must have a MAJOR Problem! God Bless Yolanda!

3-0 out of 5 stars Not too pleasing
After Songs from The Heart, I expected more. And this one simply didn't deliver for me. But one of her best songs she has ever recorded, In The Midst of All, can be found on this one. Other than that and maybe and Open My Heart, it's an average album. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars They have done it again and back with the original group!
I've said before and I'll say it again, that Commissioned is the
greatest group ever... from gospel to R&B, to rock.
With this two CD set they give you songs from their very first album, up until the "Matters Of The Heart" album.
They (Fred H., Mitchell, Karl, Keith, Mike, Marvin, and Marcus) have taken songs from the 80's and the early 90's and made them new. Songs like "I'm Going On", "Lord Jesus Help Me", and "Running Back To You" let you remember the words but the flaver is on another level.
But for my praise & worship saints out there, your in for a treat because songs like "Hold Me", "Ordinary Just Wont Do", and "When Love Calls You Home" will take you on a spiritual high.
And for all of the young people out there you are certainly not left out, because of songs like "King Of Glory", "So Good To Know", and "I Can't Live Without You" will keep you dancing and make you want more.
I encourage anyone to buy this CD, because as a long time Commissioned fan I know your money will be well spent and so will your time listening.

4-0 out of 5 stars I Loved It But...
Okay, I have been a fan of Commissioned and Fred Hammond's work for a long time now. Although I know that these brothers have a certain type of chemistry when they come together, I did find flaws in this project. Don't get me wrong...the anointing of God you can definitely feel but why so much growling and hollering? It was almost like some of the leads were performing theatrics in order to get the biggest reaction from the crowd. For instance, on Ordinary Just Won't Do, what's up with the lead screaming and growling and then saying "I gotta calm myself down"???? I thought that was just too far out there. Another thing that I really didn't too much care for was the anticlimactic effect of opening the project with Strange Land, then not singing it in its entirety. Strange Land is the bomb! On the other hand songs like Love Isn't Love, Secret Place, Running Back To You, Go Tell Somebody, Lord Jesus Help Me, and So Good To Know sound better than ever. I will always hold to the belief that Fred Hammond defined their classic sound and style and I ain't mad at him 'cause it works. Maybe they will come back with another live (or studio) project without so much growling next time.

5-0 out of 5 stars Even Jesus went to His feet on this one !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I know heaven had a party as this album was recorded, God was pleased, The Lord's name was truly praised. What anointed, appointed brothas in the Gospel! I will be elated till they reunite AGAIN, i've seen all the big names in Gospel live and on video, this one is by far Unsurpassed! ... Read more

It is so awesome to have a christian make such great jazz music. As a christian myself, I believe that if worldly people can make good music, then the people of God can make music too. Editorial Review

Fred Hammond reinforces the strength of his faith with the power of his music. His newest collection combines exuberantly devotional lyrics with a solid R&B musical underpinning. The rhythm section is girded by Hammond's own muscular electric-bass playing and supplementary horns bolster the waves of sound and emotion of Radical for Christ, his dozen-voice choir. His preceding release, Pages of Life, was a double CD with one disc of studio recordings and one disc live in a Detroit church. Purpose by Design distills that mix to a strong single disc with nine studio and four live recordings, although without the experience of a continuous service that the live disc of Pages of Life offered. Both approaches to recording have their strengths; "I Know It Was the Blood," with its vivid imagery, inexorable rhythm, inventive melodic movement, and subtle electronic manipulation of Hammond's vocal melismas, exemplifies the use of modern recording technology to create exhilarating music. The CD's opener, "I Want My Destiny," has an urgent lyric, a groove to match it, and an equally sophisticated arrangement. The live tracks, like "When You Praise," build from a pastoral beginning to an extended, climactic conclusion that really needs a church full of worshippers to help inspire it and can't be readily simulated in the studio. Among the live songs is a congregation-rousing rendition of "Jesus Be a Fence Around Me," a Sam Cooke classic from his days with the Soul Stirrers. --Bob Bannister ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Listen to the Words - From 3 Stars to 5
If I would have rated this CD the first time I heard it, I probably would have given it 3 stars. However, now that I have taken the opportunity to really LISTEN to the words, rather than just hear the music - I appreciate it more and rate it 5 stars. I enjoyed Pages of Life so much that I was afraid Purpose by Design would not compare; but I was wrong. The songs really minister to me. No matter what the situation, Purpose by Design has an applicable song. Every time I listen to the CD, I hear something new. I thank God for blessing Fred Hammond with the gift of music ministry.

5-0 out of 5 stars music that goes where we have not been before
This album presents a new chapter in the pages of life. I too was robotically looking for a sister follow-up to "Pages of Life" but I thank God for inspiring this "new thing" with Fred and RFC.I feel certain that Fred is, via his musical offerings, showing us the limitless boudaries of God. We have a highly creative and innovative Father and His children ought to be like Him.

This album has some of the most sincere lyrics and melodies you'll ever encounter. There are no empty platitudes or hollow, over-used, 'churchy' words here. There is a purity of Spirit and Message. You need only listen to 'Thank you Lord for Being There For Me" or "When We Praise" or "Yes He Will" to discover this.

Of course, the production quality is superb and unsurpassed this is, after all, Fred Hammond, but the message of encouragement and challange to be all that we are meant to be in Christ is also unmistakable. Just listen to the urgings of the opening song " I Want My Destiny" imploring us to accomplish all that we were put on this earth to achieve. To borrow a line :

"Go get your hat and coat and come on!.....in fact go get all your stuff", (as in there is a great reward) " hold on don't let go you give in now you'll be jacked-up for sure, the journey is long and hard is the fight but we trust in the Lord and in the power of his might!"

My oh My I feel like saying 'dig-it'! When was the last time you heard such a complete combination of lyrics that communicated so much so powerfully and in such a short space of time? Fred has, beyond doubt, 'The Gift'.

Fred Hammond continues to 'cut bush in the field', as we say in my country, or, in globalesse: 'blaze a trail' in the Gospel music industry. He is unashamedly pushing the boundaries of what we have hiterto accepted as 'acceptable' forms and content of Gospel music.

Fred Hammond continues to be that highwater mark in Gospel music. He remains amongst a very select few who are determined to lift the Standard of Christ high without loosing the Message in the music. I am encouraged to see him economically rewarded for this position. His productions are such a complete package that not only are they 'must haves' but, I am confident that few will wish to pirate copies because the genuine article is 'the genuine article'. I personally am very excited and thankful for that. One of the most discouraging things for me is to see a Christian claiming to be 'blessed' from listening to their pirated copies of the works of Christian artists (although I do accept that it really is the Message and not necessarily the messenger, and that maturity and being saved are two distinct things, I'm sure that most of you who have been equally repulsed by this practice will take my point).

If you love music with a Message which can transend generational boudaries and which is timeless and immediate in its effect "Purpose By Design" is for you. Don't miss out on the opportunity to affect yours and someone else's life.

Do not look to find "Pages Of Life Part 2" because this album is not that, it cannot be that. Returning to a past Glory is simply not a principle of God.

4-0 out of 5 stars A Psalmist for the 21st Century
Being from Detroit, I remember Fred Hammond from his days with Commissioned. God has blessed him mightily to grow into a true Psalmist ministering to this present age.

This project has a balance of worship music. He mixes well the contemporary with old time Black gospel sound. "You Are the Living Word" moves me to worship every time I hear it.

I strongly recommend this album. I pray Minister Hammond will consider doing several LIVE worship recordings in the genre of the old Savoy recordings (but with much better production) where the audience participation enhances the experience for all. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars One of the best live performances I've heard!
So we've heard it all from Kirk Franklin and The Family to Whatcha Lookin 4 to God's Property to Nu Nation to 1NC to Kingdom Come, now Kirk's BACK! Wow and this time it's a totally amazing new blast! Kirk's grow up with more spiritually side of music BUT! He still knows how to keep it ghetto. The album starts off beautifully with intro of his mumma taking him to his grandma and his grandma saying a pray and he catches up on it and then the concert...BEGINS! "Hosanna" a beautiful touch of Traditional R&B Gospel hits you first with powerful lyrics and strong beats. This leads into "Caught Up" which features our sister, our pastor Shirley Caeser. Then Kirk sways it around a studio recorded song, which I think personally, is about the whole 9.11 situation. This is lead by the beautiful ballad of "The Blood Song" which was also studio record. Okay, back to the concert, the old skool Gospel of "Brighter Day" keeps thang's tight! Then another beautiful ballad "My Life, My Love, My All" which leads into the uptempo Jazz of "Keep On Lookin Out For Me" to the Reggae styled "He Reigns (the Medley)" Then comes Easter, the day that Jesus got crucified to the day He rose again and the beautiful "Don't Cry" leads in amazingly, it might make you cry. Another sweet ballad would be "Always" it's a romance of Praise and then to end off we have "When I Get There" some more old skool Gospel and "The Blood Song" live. The hidden track "Throw Yo Hands Up" is a fuse of Rock Steady and Hip-Hop with some Country and Jazz on the side! Real tight! The album is one of the best in muh collection. Get it or miss out on some of the messages of Christ and the Word of God. "...it's time for your REBIRTH!"

5-0 out of 5 stars Simply Awesome...
I have been a Kirk Franklin fan from day one loving each CD he's worked on but this by far is the best! Kirk is definitely re-birthed with a fresh annointing after enduring a time of crushing and on every track you feel the annointing on Kirk's life.

This CD will bless your life. It will also be enjoyable for the un-saved and prayerfully after listening to Don't Cry the un-saved will turn their lives to Christ.

God Bless Kirk Franklin and all of his singers for blessing us with this work and I thank God for Kirk's gift of ministry and the AWESOME testimony God has given him to deliver a message of grace, mercy, hope, faith, love and salvation to God's people. Because of this we can all truly say it's gonna be a BRIGHTER DAY!

5-0 out of 5 stars This Album Is A True Blessing
This is one of the greatest albums every made. Kirk Franklin has presented an offering of praise, healing, reverence, worship, adoration. This album is a true reminder of how wonderfully awsome our God is and how He will give the everlasting joy He promised to us all. When you listen to this album you will smile, laugh, cry, rejoice...and praise the Lord for Kirk Franklin. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Communicative happiness and positive thinking
We are not familiar with Christian music in Europe. Some of us might remember Amy Grant had one hit single somewhere in the 80's, but she was classified in 'pop' section, just like Mary Mary are classified in soul/r&b section. This is why I did not pay much attention to the lyrics when the single "Shackles - Praise you" went on heavy rotation on a certain Music TeleVision. I just liked the communicative happiness and energy irradiating through the rhythm and the voices. I couldn't help clapping hands, dancing and humming along.

The same feeling goes through the entire album, between upbeat songs (the title track, "Joy", "I sings", "I got it", "Somebody", "Good to me", "Wade in the water") and slower ballads ("What a friend", "Can't give up now", "Be happy", "One Minute", "Still my child"). The album gives a nice impression of style and rhythm variations and all the songs are uplifting, conveying Tina and Erica joyful assurance that life is worth living even through the hardest circumstances.

I must be honest, I am not spending much time pondering the lyrics - mainly praising God and thanking him for being there in every moment of human life, good or bad - because I am not particularly religious. But if I wake up in a 'ready to bite' mood, I only have to play that album in the car to start my working day smiling and in a much friendlier mood... which make it much more agreeable for my colleagues and I. Shouldn't it be the purpose of a musician? Make sure your day has become a little bit brighter by listening to his songs? It works for me since I bought the album one year ago. I am confident it will work for you too, no matter if you believe or not.

5-0 out of 5 stars Annointed Ministry
This is truly an annointed CD. The one thing that I am most proud of is that even though the production was BANGIN', the ministry of Jesus Christ was heaard, felt, and experienced in every song. I thank God for Mary-Mary because God has given them the ability to speak about the heart of man. Especially young people. Mary-Mary has given young people music that grooves and, at the same time, the TRUTH about Christ. To quote a line from "Thankful":"Where would I be without your love. Where woud I be without your grace. You didn't have to do it, but I'm glad you did."I can just praise God for that because if we really think about those words & how blessed all of us are, we can truly say "Lord, I'm Thankful!"Get it. It is truly worth it.Keep ministering Ladies! God's gotcha.Hope to work with you very soon...

5-0 out of 5 stars A solid first release...better than the second
This is a cd worth getting. Mary Mary's Thankful is what gospel R&P at is finest looks or sounds like. This cd is jammed packed with hits that you know and hits that you are yet to love. Do yourself a favor and get this while you can, its a better offering than their sophmore cd which is still worth a purchase.

Can't wait for their 3rd cd to drop. C'mon girls we're anxiously waiting ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Beautiful R&B Gospel Music
I know this CD was suppose to be more in the gospel category, but it seems at times more like secular R&B music. I still thought it was a great CD never-the-less because it sounds great and Bebe and Cece have very beautiful voices. The composition of most of the songs in this collection are really well done and the sounds blends together beautifully. I still think of it as gospel music, although it doesn't mention the name of Christ as much as I thought it should, it does mention His grace and His love for his people. As the reviewer before me mentions, these are indeed love songs, but love songs directed to God and his people.

2-0 out of 5 stars Over engineered fluff
BeBe and CeCe demonstrate great comprimise in this sad collection of "gospel" songs because almost every cut can also be interpreted as a secular love song. Unlike a true gospel artist like Vickie Winans, who has the ability to evangalize through her music, these performers seem to be embarrassed about being inspirational. This disc is for the bubble gum Christian, not for the listener who takes his or her faith seriously.

5-0 out of 5 stars Gospel/Inspirational Music At Its Best
I feel bad for those out there who criticize this brother/sister duo. They are missing out on some good music! This cd is a must have for any BeBe/CeCe fan or for anyone who just needs to be uplifted and encouraged. The musical delivery is honest and refreshing...These two are definitely head and shoulders above their Gospel peers. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Kenoly is very skilled
Though I am no longer a fan of the praise/worship genre, Kenoly is definitely a cut above most everyone else in the field. He summons a wide variety of talent and demonstrates creativity and energy throughout. I had heard 3 of his other albums before deciding to purchase this one, and the only disappointment came when some of my personal favorites did not make the "best of" cut.

From the Lift Him Up album, two of my favorites were left out: "We Will Wait" and "Hallowed Be Your Name." In addition, several very well-crafted tracks from the God is Able album are left out. Unfortunately, that particular album is not currently available at Amazon, but if there were one Kenoly CD that I would buy, it would be "God is Able".

4-0 out of 5 stars An awesome CD
This CD is one of my favorites, to say the least. It's as if I was at a Ron Kenoly concert, even though it's pieced together from different recordings. I would HIGHLY recommend it to any one seeking good Christian music. I mostly enjoyed the first 8 tracks.

5-0 out of 5 stars Answered Prayer
It was a dark night when I collapsed to pray and heard a voice ask: "What do you want?" After 6 years of grad school, a Ph.D., and ten years of full time university teaching, I was shocked by the brevity of my response -- five letters, two words -- "Use Me!"

Two days later just thumbing through CDs out jumped the title "Use Me" by Ron Kenoly on the Men of Gospel CD.

This song is the perfect expression of my answered prayer. Each time I listen to it I feel lifted up and . . . gone home . . .

If you're seeking music that lives as a miracle, then this song, and this CD, and this artist are for you. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Another Classic For The Winans Family
The debut album by the youngest Winans and it is totally tight. Meaning that the lyrics, music and vocals are all in sync, leaving no weak moments. Check out "Father" featuring ad-libs by the great Marvin Winans and Debbie's TONI BRAXTON-like vocals on "What A Place". Not to mention the guest vocals from WHITNEY HOUSTON on the smooth cut, "Light Of Love". But if that's not enough, watch out for the church jig funk of "Brand New Dance". And proving that this family supports each other, notice that brother BeBe handles much of the production and brother Carvin also lends plenty of background vocals. This is a good selection for anyone who longs for good R&B music with a message. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars FEARLESS AND FUNKY FOR YA!
I really enjoy this album because Crystal is not afraid to strech out and experiment with different genres of music. The first track REACH OUT is a trip-hop, alternative sounding track and Crystal's voice gives it a really ethereal sound to it.The next track SATISFIED is very r&b and a little disco as well. You will definitely want to get up and move to it.The Kirk Franklin produced I STILL BELIEVE is really pleasant to listen to and has a kind of contemporary "anthem" sound to it.I always likened Lewis to being the "Teena Marie" of contemporary christian music because she has such a soulful and earthy quality to her voice. She is not trying to sound urban which some singers in this genre do sometimes and she keeps real and holy. This cd is worth the money.

4-0 out of 5 stars A really "fun" album
I have enjoyed veteran singer/songwriter Crystal Lewis's 16th album, "Fearless", very much. Most all of the songs really showcase her powerful voice, her extensive vocal range, and her ability to sing lots of different styles of music. The R&B-laced opening track, "Reach Out" is a lot of fun to sing along with. The following song, "Satisfied" will have you dancing in a matter of seconds. "I Still Believe" and "Trust Me" are wonderfully encouraging songs, especially when you are going through a hard time. Other highlights include "Change My Heart", "One Man", and the syrupy-but-still-very-touching ode to friendship, "My Friend." The only downside to this album is that some of the lyrics aren't as good as others. (Though I suppose that's true for most any album.) The title track,"Fearless", was a disappointment to me, as was "What a Fool I've Been" and "Kiss and Tell". Nevertheless, this album is definitely worth buying, especailly if you enjoy R&B and similar types of music. For the most part, "Fearless" is a great CD.

5-0 out of 5 stars Unbelievable voice of God....
I am not even a very religious person and Crystal Lewis has made me believe. One Man is such a perfect life affirming song and I saw her on TBN one night singing it and was transfixed. What a beautiful soulful voice. She truly feels what she's singing and you can hear it note for note. Buy this CD and you won't be dissapointed, regardless of religious preferance. This CD stands alone as far as a R&B anyway. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Anoined Rappers Take Hip Hop to the next Level
I have been waiting for this album to drop for the longest time after borrowing it from my P.I.C. (parter in Christ) some time ago. I was surprised that It hadn't been released on Amazon when I tried to Purchase it, but when I learned that it was being re-released, I put it on order as soon as I could. These brothers have the lyrical skills that could easily overtake a number of secular rappers in any freestyle battle! In fact Cross Movement are the best Ive heard yet! If you have not heard Cross Movement before, you are in for a treat! These anointed M.C's deliver the word of God in an awesome lyrical flow that will have you begging for more! The beats are hot and could be compared to that of secular producer/rapper RZA. The whole reason I turned away from Rap was the negative message but with Cross Movement that problem is eliminated! I seriously recommend that you check out this CD! And May the Lord Bless You!

5-0 out of 5 stars The Cross Movement - House of Representatives
This CD is one of the most awesome Christian rap CD's I have ever listened to. It is just an awesome CD with great lyrics and beats. My two favorite songs are - Playa Hater #1 & I am that I am. They are both have great lyrics. This is a must buy CD for all rap/hip hop fans out there. God Rocks! PEACE

4-0 out of 5 stars COMTEMPORARY GOSPEL WELCOMES TRUE TALENT!!!!!!
PRAISE & WORSHIP PIONEER RON KENOLY PASSES HIS GIFT OF VOICE TO HIS SONS-THE KENOLY BROTHERS-THESE GIFTED SINGERS SERVE US A NICE PLATE OF R&B SONGS WITH THE MESSAGE OF THE GOSPEL-THE CONCERT-LIKE OPENING SONG "WE WELCOME YOU" IS DEFINITELY APPEALING TO THE EARS-ALTHOUGH IT COULD HAVE BEEN LONGER. THE UPTEMPO "COME WITH ME" IS A HOLY GHOST PARTY AND SOMETHING EVERY YOUTH SHOULD LISTEN TO."MY EVERYTHING" IS ALSO A GEM. BUT THE STANDOUTS ARE THE BALLADS-THE POWERFULLY ANOINTED "WHY I LOVE YOU(YOU ARE MY JOY) IS A SONG EVERYONE SHOULD HEAR(SAINT OR SINNER)."THE TITLE TRACK "ALL THE WAY" IS A AWESOME TESTIMONY AND A TRUE ONE THAT MANY CHRISTIANS EXPERIENCE.THE MID-TEMPO "IN THE MIDST" IS MELODIC AND CERTAINLY A GROOVE TO BOP YOUR HEAD TO. THESE TWO YOUNG MEN HAVE MATURE AND POWERFUL VOICES-SET TO STYLISHLY PRODUCED TRACKS-YOU'LL DANCE, YOU'LL SING, YOU'LL CRY TEARS OF JOY- THIS CD SHOULD BE A PART OF ANY TRUE GOSPEL LOVER'S COLLECTION. *HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

4-0 out of 5 stars Sensational Gospel Group of Worshipers
The Kenoly brothers are a great team of singers. This cd isn't the best workmanship but however you can see the talent and inspiration from the two brothers. The songs are carefully chosen and written as well as great in my opinion. On this album you have some different flavors; some worship, inspiration, jazz, r&b and hip hop. I simply love it. If you listen to this cd then you will love the update junior album "No Distance". And the workmanship on that one improved and is really good. They are growing greatly in the Christian music industry. Check them out if you haven't already. You will love these guys. Keep up the great work Kenoly Brothers.

5-0 out of 5 stars Anointed is awesome.
The best songs on this album is God's Personality, the Title Track, He Knows, The Other Side, Don't Sweat It and Friends Forever. Considering it is the debut album and it was made in 1993, I think it was a fine effort.

5-0 out of 5 stars Debut album is cool.
Although many people do not know that Anointed had this debut album, i've added it to my collection and it is cool. The best songs on here are God's Personality, the title track, He Knows, The Other Side, Friends Forever and definately Don't Sweat It, with Steve's awesome voice.
