5-0 out of 5 stars one of the best CD's I own
let me start off by saying that this cd is my favorite.i it so much better than there last (not to say that there last one was anything less than amazing).dave g.'s voice has got much better and chuck is amazing on the drums and brendon blows me away with his ability to paly the guitar.this cd is well put together with amazing lyrics that my self and any other person who listens to it can relate to.all the song on this cd are great but the best ones are "oh how clintonian of me", "only the good looking need apply", "diet of worms", " holy bibles and stained glass hotel windows", and my favorite "knife in hand gun in mouth".this cd is nothing short of astonishing. i just can't say enough about it. the word was going around clinton that this cd was going to be good but i had no idea it was going to be this good.

5-0 out of 5 stars OI rocks!
I was first introduced to this band about a year ago when i moved in to college. my roomate was into the same music as me, and new of OI, infact he went to school with them in Clinton Ma. granted a few years younger. right away i caught on, loving every minute of all their songs. Live, they blew me away with their power. I can honesly say the Orange Island/Hot Rod Circut show was one of the best i've ever seen. Orange islands new release, self titled, is and excelent album. it is more mature than their last, and better put together, not that the last was anything but stelar. Powerful vocal and lyrics combined with catchy gutair all in a great indie rock/post punk sound you can't fnd anywhere other than the small towns of MA. if you like HRC, Hey Mercedes or anything of the like, you'lll love OI ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Worth every Freaking penny...
A Static Lullaby- "...And Dont Forget To Breath" is by far one of the best SCREAMO cd's you can buy....thats about all you need to know, ths is cd is great. if you like this cd you should also check out Silverstein- "When broken is easily fixed".

5-0 out of 5 stars listen to this album..........and don't forget to breathe
this is the debut album from a static lullaby and i have to say it's one of the best emocore/hardcore albums i've ever heard (along with finch). what amazes me even more is that they weren't even a band for a year before they started recording this album. the lyrics are honest and brutal at times and every song has a hook to it, and it overall a very solid album. another thing to add, the singing/screaming mix is probably the best i've ever heard. their voices coincide so well together it gives me chills. i will admit that it took awhile for this album to grow on me, but when it did, i couldn't get the damn thing off me. it's like catching a disease. ok...enough of that. anyways, if you are into bands like finch, new underoath, FATA, senses fail: then check these guys out. i don't think you can find this cd for any less then $14, but it's well worth it.

5-0 out of 5 stars New
What a great band. I personally think that they have it all. The singing and the screaming vocals, the shredding guitars, the brutal drums, and yet, it all has a melodic sense in it. The song that could speak for the whole cd is Love to Hate, Hate to Me. A Static Lulluby's lyrics are heartfelt and innovative. They have such talent. Some more of the Highlights are Nightmares win 6-0, Lipgloss and Letdown, and Annunciate while you Masticate (what a great title eh?). This cd is so great. It can reach out to a whole group of diffrent crowds, so that everyone can enjoy it. ... Read more

    Editorial Review

New York's the Movielife cut their teeth as spiky hardcore upstarts, but with Forty Hour Train Back to Penn, they've evolved into a quality pop-punk band. Crushing tight emo intensity, shout-along choruses, and post-hardcore dynamics into a polished package, they provide a fine example of label Drive-Thru Records' skill at nailing the brightly populist side of modern punk. "Jamestown" displays the kind of heartfelt emo fury that At the Drive-In specialized in; the song chronicles a recent van crash that left frontman Vinnie Carusa "bruised and broken" and gives the album its name. Elsewhere, emotional pain drives Carusa's lyrics. "Face and Kneecaps" deals with a relationship nearing the end, while "Kelly’s Song" strikes a strong chord with the line: "When Kelly cries / The makeup runs from her eyes / Spilling the truth / Of how she feels inside." This is a band that plays to its strengths. --Louis Pattison ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Oh how I miss the M-life
Man I just love the movielife, more than any other band I think.I don't know just what it is I love about, they aren't the most incredably innovative band out there, they definatly weren't a critic favorite (but who really cares about that) and they never got the recognition they deserved.I think the thing I love about the movielife the most is the passion, to me I think Vinnie is one of the nicest and most passionate singer in music.I'm not kidding you, I'm not the kinda guy to talk to bands, you know you always see it after a show there is always some individual who is just dying to talk to the band for some reason. What's up with that? You always notice it too as some sort of prideful thing when your buddy is all like "oh the singer told me..." and so on, oh so you guys are homies now or something, right? So I'm not one to go talk to the band, I just don't like praising people or feeding other people's ego.I mean a band might have done an incredable job, but unless I know a person in the band I'm probably not going to go and give them that little ego boost. But when I saw the Movielife about a year before they broke up, I just couldn't resist telling Vinnie how good the show was.Not only is he a champ, he actually stood around to talk to fans (imagine that!) after his set, but he actually complemented me too!He noticed that I sang to ever song they played and told me "thanks for singing and sh*t."I think that is amazing, really I do.It meant a lot to me and it still does.Anyways yeah that was the only time I've ever talked to the "band" but in a way I felt like I kind of knew Vinnie (surely I didn't really KNOW him I had never met him), not in a stalker way but just through his lyrics and his on-stage persona, there was something inviting and non-inpersonal about it.And that was what was great about the Movielife, there was no pretension, there was just honesty and many bands these days are dishonest and have inflated egos.I can just tell when I hear the music, the passion and honesty just isn't there, it's as if they are going through the motion. The Movielife played what they liked, sang how they felt and didn't give a rip about what was hip and what was popular which obviously meant that they wouldn't be getting as much attention as all these other pretensious flash-in-the-pan groups. Not to say that the Movielife was some no name, obscure band (they were the only good band on Drive-thru) but I just don't think they will ever get the recognition they deserved for the great music they made. You either got them or you didn't and that was the best part about the Movielife. As for this album?I think it wasn't as good as "this time..." or "It's Go Time" but it was a great album and it was diffrent than the other albums.I think it's a decent album though, really I lost my copy and I just haven't come around to replacing it, but it's still killer my brother.

5-0 out of 5 stars very different- not your average power punk band
The Movielife's newest album gives us something more to talk about, being halfway between Allister and Strike Anywhere, it breaks all burriers between punk and pop. This band knows how to drop a sweet guitar riff and make a slow melody into an ubpeat madness. I love this band and so should you. Nice work Drive-Thru.

3-0 out of 5 stars Actually 3 and a half..
This is a pretty decent album. Nothing too overly original, but its special in its own right. Not alot of bands can harness the energy and sincerity that The Movielife display with this great collection of emotional songs. My two favourites are "Kelly" and "Its Something" but all of them are pretty great. If you want a high-energy emo outing, check this out. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars A Stale formula, but somehow, it works pretty well
Pop-punk music has been done to death, and without any real original uniqueness, its going to continue to sound the same. I bought this album for the single, become what you hate, and overall I have mixed feelings.

    Become what you hate 5/5
    Still trying 4/5
    Get it together 3/5

    One last time 3/5
    Faulty foundation 4/5

Had it not been for a few tracks I really liked, there would have been a major downgrade in stars. Unoriginal to it's core, but worth a listen for folks who like catchy pop-punk/rock.

5-0 out of 5 stars SWEET ASS
I've listened to a ton of bands like this, (The MovieLife, NFG, Taking Back Sunday, Saves the Day, Brand New, The Ataris, Armor for Sleep, etc.) (all of which I recomend)If you like any of those bands buy this CD.
This CD is sick, I knew it the first time I listened.Fairly unique and not to pop-punk but not only screaming. One of the best CD's of its kind, goes right up with Where You Want To Be, and Deja Entendu.
Become What You Hate, Like A Movie

5-0 out of 5 stars Living Well is a great CD
Despite their lack of on-air time, I really like their sound. It is the best of their three CDs, with Save the World next and Forget what you know in a definite last place. Also check out Autopilot Off if you like Midtown. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Best album in years!
Okay, everyone says these guys are "emo" and whatnot, but they are more than emo. They are like the most influential band ever, this band is what got me into the band I am in right now. Also, this CD is WAY better than IKSSE3. This is just... well... better. Claudio's voice has never had an affect on me, aven when I first heard them. The bass is what intrigued me. Playing bass, naturally I hear the bass lines, and pick up on them, and these are just amazing. I think you should hear this one after IKSSE3, not because IKSSE3 is better, just I don't think you are ready for SSTB, until you get bored of IKSSE3. Anyway, this one is better

Time Consumer(9/10)- one of the best songs on the album... good bass line.

Devil In Jersey City(6/10)- This song gets stale quickly...

Everything Evil(10/10)- Maybe one of their best songs, love the breakdown at the end.

Delirium Trigger(8/10)- Okay song, works for me.

Hearshot Kid Disaster(7/10)- Sort of good song, good riffs

33(8/10)- Used to love this song, also got kinda stale... okay bass line.

Junesong Provision(8/10)- Pretty good song, I enjoy when Claudio goes so high... it's like off the charts... it's sort of amusing.

Neverender(9/10)- Good song... I get a tingle in my stomach when I hear "Forget your son, he's off on his own." I dunno weird...

God Send Conspirator(8/10)- not a really "stand-out" song... but pretty good.

I Robot(bonus Track)(10/10)- Claudio sounds really good acoustic... and the song is sort of remade on IKSSE3.

There's my review... hope it has influenced you!

5-0 out of 5 stars A masterpiece of an album, a phenomenom of a band
First and foremost, just buy this CD.You will not regret it,...and if you do, then you can't be my friend.^^Seriously though, Coheed is just such a smart band. The lyrics, which just so happen to go along with their 2nd album, as well as their comic book series (busy, busy, busy)are very strong and really quite different than anything else you might hear.Although they are classified as emo, they actually have a strong rock feel to them, listen to "Delirium Trigger" and you'll understand. The singer, Claudio, has an outstanding vocal range...I swear the first time I heard him I was wondering if it was a boy or girl singing, but nonetheless, his vocals are enough to make you purchase this album, but it won't stop there. The band is just as terrific and they match him musically.Enough reading, just buy it, and while you're at it, but their sophomore album, In Keeping Secrets Silent Earth: 3.Hhmmm...even their album titles are a bit odd, no?Well, whatever they do, it works.Gotta give them lots of love.

5-0 out of 5 stars BLOWING MY MIND
No band that I've heard in recent years (Radiohead not included) has equaled Coheed for innovation and generally great sound. Though not quite as finely tuned as "In Keeping Secrets...", "Second Stage" is more than worth listening to. Many sounds are repeated between the albums, and that's a very good thing, as Coheed often blows my mind in indescribable ways just by their musicianship and surreal overtures. LOVE THIS!!! ... yep there good i swear i heard permenant some were but dont know were.

5-0 out of 5 stars Christian stole the tattoo I wanted...
I've seen these boys quite a few times, and have played some of the best show's I've ever had the honor of seeing.

The Seattle scene is brilliant right now and Acceptance is at the forefront.

I have never seen a bad show, in fact, many of the songs on this Milltia Group release are actually recorded from live shows.I honestly can't think of another rock band that plays as well as Acceptance, each song is brilliant, and every note is spot on.

If you ever get the chance, see Acceptance live, you will not be dissapointed. If you can't, then buy this album, get the best speakers you can and turn it up as loud as possible, and while you still won't be quite as blown away, you might come close.

    5-0 out of 5 stars A music lover's dream.....
First of all, I hadn't heard any songs on this cd prior to my purchase, so anytime I make a whimsical purchase I tend to be skeptical if my money was well spent. On this ocassion, my money was well spent and in fact, I am going to buy a copy for my sister!

For fans of Taking Back Sunday, Anberlin, and Fall Out Boy.They really have a good chemistry and flow to all of the songs.I would've liked more studio songs on this album instead of 2 live tracks, they are really just fillers on the cd, however they are an insight into their AWESOME live shows.

THE BOTTOM LINE: Do yourself a favor and buy this cd, it won't disappoint you.An emotional outing that is sure to please! ... Read more

This record is awesome. I know these guys and they have been through alot as a band just to keep it going. Matt wrote some excellent lyrics, Ryan wrote some awesome songs and to this day, i listen to it all the time as one of my favorite records. i suggest you buy this. Its got a pop punk flavor to it but a lot of riffs, great vocals and melodies and plenty of dynamics... great songwriting. buy it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Northstar - Is This Thing Loaded
Northstar have released a ten (10) track public display of Nick Torres' insides. "Is This Thing Loaded," exhibits the most lyrical competence of any rock record in 2002. By far the strongest disc Triple Crown stamped their approval on that year. The riffs are raw and erosive sounding; yet Torres' effortless vocal delivery meshes impeccably with the blistering music. These down South rockers have turned a lot of heads with their debut triumph, and rightfully so. Northstar shows promise for what lies ahead in the Rock music scene. Check Out "Rigged and Ready," and "Taker Not A Giver."
    5/5

5-0 out of 5 stars is this thing loaded?
northstar is one of the greatest bands ever. all of you complaining about the recording quality are ignorant as hell. they re-released the album and anyway the intros or whatever you guys are complaining about echo a little bit and sound kind of far away on purpose. the lyrics are amazing. nick torres is my idol, not only is he a incredible singer but he play guitar while he's doing it. the drums are phenomenal especially the outro to broken parachute (track 3). the lyrics and songwriting are intricate and amazing. not a single bad track on the album. my favorite cd of alltime.

rigged and ready - a highlight of the cd, crazy good
is this thing loaded? - a little slower with great lyrics
broken parachute - one of the coolest intros ever and a song to follow it up
my ricochet - catchiest song on the cd... no words for it
my wishing well disease - one of the harder tracks on the album but still excellent
taker not a giver - cool song with a great chorus
daybreak - guitars on this song are really cool
train hopping in dixieland - one of my favorites on the cd... some really cool isolated vocals on this one
cinderella - another cool intro with a sweet song to back it up
black heart valentine - not so upbeat song... sweet to end off on.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good cd

5-0 out of 5 stars a new band with a new sound
i heard of anadivine on a sampler about a year ago, and i thought to myself they sounded similiar to co & cambria but had their own distinct sound going. i then found their ep last year and i was really impressed.the vocals are very melodic and the lyrics are honest and really good. the guitars and drums are smooth as well.definately a band who's going places. i've yet to check out their full length "zoo", but i heard it was great as well. if your into relaxing emoish/indie punk check these guys out. there worth your money favorites are tracks 2,3,5,6

The Zoo album will blow you away. It has hints of this album but with so much more to it. As the above people have stated, this album does try to shift between genres. If you love hearing many things going on an album then you should check out Zoo. They try so much different things in the album that it creates its own distinct sound from anything I ever heard before. It's energetic, it's catchy, it's down right beautiful...check it out.

5-0 out of 5 stars This is "the" album
I heard these guys on the Drive Thru Records DVD.I bought this album and it is what I base all other albums against. Its got everything. This rooms too cold is an eerie reminder of a broken heart.Baby Blue is what caught me into them.If you want an album that makes you "feel" this is it. The other albums kick ass too.The acoustic stuff in Ever so sweet and dinner at the money table are beautiful. Check out the "For all of this" album its sweet too

      4-0 out of 5 stars 4 1/2
This cd is good...but there's some intentional flaws that just shouldn't happen.First off, I'm sorry, but this guys vocals are terrible. He needs to do more than one cut, and even though I don't like them, put some harmonized vocals behind him, like in FAOT.However, the songs are great, besides number 1.Number 6, 8, and 10 are stand-out tracks to me.I'm not saying this is a bad cd, but I feel they kind of went backwards from FAOT.Good job though, and try to focus on the faster side.

5-0 out of 5 stars Reminds me of Brand New's transformation
Similar to Brand New's 'Deja Entendu' album, you can really hear how The Early November has matured on this album.I don't really understand all of the negative reviews, as their sometimes strange guitar riffs ("Something that Produces Results") are anything but ordinary. Here's a rundown:

      1) Ever So Sweet
I think it's kinda strange that these guys begin their album with a slow, acoustic piece, but it works. The later part of the song is the best part, so give it a chance...it grows on you.Like all of the album, the songs have great transitions between them.9/10

      2) Something that Produces Results
I love this song...so much energy. The guitar part about midway through the song is one of the strangest things I have heard, but contrary to other reviews of this album, these guys are unlike other 'emo' bands, whatever emo is.10/10

      3) The Mountain Range in My Living Room
I heard this song well before I bought the CD, as it was available for download from MP3.com.I just love the theme behind this song...it's about being tired of sweeping his problems under the rug, and they're becoming too much to handle.Who other than these guys would think of something like that? This song rocks, its a great sing-a-long one.10/10

      4) Sesame, Smeshame
I just noticed how these guys like to cluster all of their best songs at the beginning of this album. This is another great one...it reminds me of one of the songs on the 'For All of This' EP, but I just can't think of which one, sorry. The swing feel at the beginning of this song is something new for them, though.9/10

      5) Baby Blue
This might be my favorite song on the album...however, it doesn't get to its best part until the end. This song reminds me so much of Brand New, with the layered vocal work.I just noticed how short this song is.10/10

      6) The Course of Human Life
I love every song on this album, and this one is no exception...but it's just missing something. It feels like a filler to me.7/10

      7) Dinner at the Money Table
It's easy to say that this portion of the album is the worst part...combining tracks 6 and 7.I usually love TEN's acoustic stuff, but this song just has nothing to it.7/10

      8) Exchanging Two Hundred
Ah, this is the Early November I love. This is such a great song...the layered vocals are sweet, great guitar riffs, just great contrast between quiet and energetic parts of this song.9/10

      9) My Sleep Pattern Changed
This song disappoints me.The whole thing sounds like one long intro, and you're expecting the big, emotional moment to come, and it never does.It leaves you thinking, "that's it?" 6/10

      10) Fluxy
Wow I love this song. It's by far the most radio-friendly song on this album (what do you expect with Ken Vasoli, TSL guest vocaling?)He does a good job though.I love the guitar riff at the beginning of this song, its easily one of the highpoints on this album.10/10

      11) Everything's Too Cold...But You're So Hot
I hate the name of this song, it departs from these guys' otherwise very mature image. However, this is such a great breakup song...this song is really quiet, and i love the melody. The climax is later in the song with Ace screaming/crying his words...man, that's gotta be what emo is.

All in all, this CD isn't as catchy as the 'For All of This' EP, but it doesnt have to be.This shows just how talented these guys are, being able to write such diverse music.Do yourself a favor and pick this one up.Verdict: 94/100 ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Emo is the worst thing to happen to rock music...
...in a long time. I'd say its even worse than fake grunge and nu metal, which is saying a lot. This ever growing contingency of bands from New Jersey and Long Island is truly nauseating. In emo, its ok to whine. In fact, whining is the emo style of singing. In emo, your lyrics need to revolve around your failed relationship with the Betty Rubble-looking girl who dumped you for an even more emo guy because you wheren't wussy enough for her. Blues is another music style that revolves around relationships gone bad, but there is soul in there as well as pain and emotion. Emo takes the balls out of the whole deal and is just one big whine fest with horrible wannabe poetic lyrics.

Another affront is how these emo bands seem to enjoy adopting the look of classic rock bands from the 60's and 70's(moppy hair, worn jeans), yet they are the most unrock thing to happen in a long time.

Listen to Fugazi or Quicksand instead.

1-0 out of 5 stars utter garbage
If you are a fan of weak, contrived, radio rock and have just enough pride to fancy yourself "punk" or "emo" or whatever Hot Topic is selling this week, then this album is for you.

And I hope you can feel yourself dying slowly when you listen to it. I know that I sure did.

What a waste of perfectly good plastic and paper to release this album.

5-0 out of 5 stars Really great emocore album
Taking Back Sunday are said to have been the rebirth of emo and almost all emo bands are now compared to them. I'm not so sure if I like the fact that everyone's compared to them, but they are still an amazing band. Although I like Where You Want to Be better, this album is still deserving of five stars. If you're looking to get your feet wet on the emocore scene then you need to get this album and Where You Want To Be. Very solid album. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars ........Speechless
This is one of those albums, in which all you can say is wow! From start to finish I wonderful peice of work. I have not heard much of "your favorite weapon" but from what I have this band has matured greatly. Sophmore slump...yeah right. Buy This Album.
      You won't be dissapointed.

4-0 out of 5 stars "a diamond in the rough.."
This album brings back a certain quote from Aladdin "a diamond in the rough.." OK, maybe not a diamond.. but some sort of semi-rare rock. In other words, people that listen to both good (radiohead, etc) and bad (all of the bands on the recommended artists on this page)music will probably like this.

      5-0 out of 5 stars I can't understand...ahh...popularity....
Popularity does things to a bands credit...for the worse sometimes. This album is amazing, start to finish, that's all there is to know.Who cares how many people like it, sheesh.First of all, the lyrics are intense and thoughtful and really great, not at all poppy or anything even close to that (i.e. "If I could I would shrink myself, sink through your skin to your blood cells, remove whatever makes you hurt, but I am too weak to be your cure.")I honestly listened to this CD habitually for weeks on end when I bought, in fact, it's starting to skip because of all the wear and tear I've put it tSS>6FVUQG5S2IDH ... 5-0 out of 5 stars ALEXISONFIRE...A MASTERPIECE!!! ONE OF THE BEST BANDS EVER!!
      (a 15 year old)

WOW is all i can say to describe this album...wow...melodic, hardcore, beautiful, intricate, the guitars..the vocals. I was skeptical about the screaming at first but if you let it sink in it grips at your heart and your ears are glued to every note, every scream, every drum beat..and its amazing..i first bought this CD a day before i was to go to New York for the weekend a 3-hour drive so i popped in the CD...from .44 Caliber Love Letter to Pulmonary Archery.this is a masterpiece..if you just put the repeat on your CD player and listen to this front to back you have to appreciate Alexisonfire..hardcore melodic screams with harmonious singing and an emo-core feel at times..ive had this CD now for 4 months and i still dont get sick of it!!!

.44 Caliber Love Letter (15/10)- mabye my favorite song on the album, the intro just grabs your heart and doesnt let go..the guitar was amazing...a perfect song!

Counterparts and Number Them (10/10)- great singing and screaming....another amazing song

Adeleda (15/10)- omg...i almost pissed my pants when i heard this song..i was breathless at the end...

A Dagger Through the Heart of St. Angeles- (12/10) jesus...great song..all i can say..

Water Wings- (10/10) love how it starts off slow and they go crazy...reminds me somwhat of .44 Caliber Love Letter

Where No one Knows My Name- (11/10) wow...short song..but sweet Dallas with great singing and the screaming tied in perfectly..

The Kennedy Curse (12/10)- one of the more hardcore songs on the album...a great listen...one of the best hardcore songs ive hear in awhile

Pulmonary Archery (14/10)- THIS IS HOW YOU SHOULD END AN ALBUM!!!! this song f%^#$@n rocks! amazing guitars...singing...screaming...everything combines into a perfect blend of melody and screamo...

ALL IN ALL THE BEST ALBUM I HAVE AND THE BEST ALBUM THAT YOU SHOULD HAVE!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Pretty good overall
I usually don't settle for anything less than "really" hardcore but sometimes you just have to admit when the voice is great, the lyrics are clever and well defined (even though these guys sound a bunch of serial killers) and the music overall is just plain good, you can really step out of you genre. My personal opinion.... well lets just say I heard them on my friend's rhapsody and immediately purchased CDs thereafter, but aside from what I think, the truth is this band is what you are looking for if you just want to hear something different.
I don't think this would be a waste of money but you should really check outasample before you buy something you don't even want to listen to.

2-0 out of 5 stars Make Me sick
Ok the guy before me said that this is the best cd you could own.... ok well i guess its all opinion because i wouldnt ever buy this cd.Make Yourself Sick isnt a bad album, but its not good either.Personally the only song i really enjoyed was "I Got Punched in the Nose for Sticking My Face in Other People's Business".I download this cd just because i heard that song but in the end it was disappointing and didnt live up to what that one song offered...it was like a really hot hooker with a vinarial disease... dont buy this cd at all costs, unless your like the guy below me... its safer just to get limewire and download it. End of story.

5-0 out of 5 stars This Is What Music Is
Whether you're into emo/scremo/whatever-core, this is simply one of the best CD's you could possibly own.The guitars are amazing, the vocals are great, and the lyrics...let's just say they put any Used or Used wannabe band to shame.Connor is by far the most witty song writer of the 00's. (Check out "It's Dylan, You Know the Drill" for proof).I use these lyrics in my English classroom for our poetry unit. This is the best import from Canada ever.Simply amazing! ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars took a while to grow on me
at first i just thought they were just another boring "artsy" rock band, then i listened a few more times and i really like the story in the album. devil shows up to a dusty nowhere town. it's pretty catchy, at some times annoying, but overall worth $10 that i paid for it.

5-0 out of 5 stars i wrote this over a year ago, but it still holds true.
this entire record is a elegant masterpiece. it begins with "devil in mexico", a prelude of things to come. this record is actually a storybook about western towns in Mexico and America being attacked by the devil. it seems strange how you can link a classy masterpiece with such an abstract, gloomy, even eccentric topic like that. but murder by death does it, and they produce a beautiful album. it is like nothing i have ever heard.

"killbot2000" is an interesting, sort-of-upbeat song, yet... not. since this record supposedly takes place in the west, it reminds me of a lecture or prayer after a gunfight, especially toward the end where Adam is chanting.

"until morale improves, the beatings will continue" made me laugh at first. just the title alone is worth questioning. this was the first track on the album that i listened to repeatedly, mainly to hear the bridge, because it is perfectly executed... even as short as it is. the chorus is catchy. i suppose i would select this to be a single, because of its immediate appeal.

i feel that "three men hanging" is the weakest song on the album. because it's one of the softest? maybe. i think it's the weakest, because it lacks the speed and emotional intricacy of the other tracks. this has steel guitar, cello, and light snare and cymbals. i still found it enjoyable and it captures the "western" feel very well. it's just not up to par with the rest.

the record really takes form after the intermission, track number five. "a master's in reverse psychology" is brilliant from the beginning. it's exciting and doesn't let up, even after it's finished. i particularly enjoyed the piano in the pre-chorus sections. to keep the album flowing perfectly, "the desert is on fire" is an upbeat song with a allegro-like tempo.

my personal favorite song on the album is "that crown don't make you a prince". this is an amazing composition. it is the most emotional and suspenseful song. although somewhat melancholy in nature, it has a beautiful mix of guitar, piano, and cello. the best on the album, i feel. the song has many peaks and slopes but is concluded without any loose ends. i consider this song the climax of the story.

another melancholy tune follows. this time it's of slower tempo. "pillars of salt" takes me back to the days of playing final fantasy ix with its soft piano and cello. i am just reminded of game music by the very nature of this piece. beautifully done, and probably my second favorite track.

"end of the line" is brilliant its own way. while slow to pick up, it builds to a very powerful singing performance from Adam and perfect correspondence from the instruments in the band. after the song concludes, there's a two minute instrumental. i'm not entirely sure if it was meant to be part of the song, but i felt that it was connected, like a final farewell as the album and story close.

buy this album now. find it and hold onto it. if you don't, and the devil doesn't make you, i'll have to.

5-0 out of 5 stars Bad Recording? I don't think so.
After listening to all this new rock from my 14 year old daughters collection, I pulled this one from her CD player to rip and it's got 12 Tracks on it and I dont even know what CD. But wow this is cool stuff. I don't get the lousy recording comments man at all. Thats so judgmental. Thats what I like about it the best I guess I didn't even think of that until I read that post.
It's just raw music, pure emotion, no over production bullcrap. Very refreshing pure genius. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Great Soundtrack, Although I Hate Horror Movies
I hate horror movies, as they are pointless, but the soundtracks to many of those movies are great. I'll give a little bit of my opinionated thoughts on these songs:

      1. "How Can I Live" by Ill Nino - Great track. 5/5
      2. "When Darkness Falls" by Killswitch Engage - Also another great track. 5/5
      3. "Beginning Of The End" by Spineshank - Spineshank rules. Enough said already. 5/5
      4. "Sun Doesn't Rise" by Mushroomhead - Funny vocals, but great music. 4/5
      5. "Condemned Until Rebirth" by Hatebreed - You can't go wrong with Hatebreed. 5/5
      6. "Snap" by Slipknot - Slipknot rules. 5/5
      7. "Army Of Me" by Chimaira - You can't go wrong. R.I.P. Rob Arnold. 5/5
      8. "The After Dinner Payback" by From Autumn To Ashes - I'm surprised they got on this soundtrack, but this is one of their best songs yet. 5/5
      9. "Leech" by Sevendust - Sevendust knows how to bring it! 5/5
      10. "Bombshell" by Powerman 5000 - Spider's band knows how to play some good music. 5/5
      11. "We Were (Electrocute)" by Type O Negative - One of the only goth metal bands I can listen to. Great track. 5/5
      12. "Welcome To The Strange" by Murderdolls - Meh. 3/5
      13. "Out Of My Way" by Seether - Seether sucks! 0/5
      14. "Inside The Cynic" by Stone Sour - Corey Taylor's original band is also a great band. 4/5
      15. "Swinging The Dead" by DevilDriver - I liked Coal Chamber better, but this will do. 4/5
      16. "The Waste" by Sepultura/Mike Patton - Sepultura rules, and so does Mike Patton. 6/5
      17. "Middle Of Nowhere" by The Blank Theory - Doesn't have any original material, but it's decent. 3/5
      18. "Ether" by Nothingface - You cannot go wrong with these guys. It sucks that they broke up, though. 5/5
      19. "Trigger" by In Flames - Great band. Great song. 4/5
      20. "11th Hour" by Lamb Of God - Metal ain't dead. Lamb Of God can teach you a worthwhile lesson. 5/5

Overall, this deserves a 4 out of 5 stars.

5-0 out of 5 stars This one worth your money.
Great compiled and there's all ultimate metal things.
Since 2003 I listen "Freddy Vs Jason" at least one time per month.

5-0 out of 5 stars Kick azz soundtrack
well the movie wasent bad. but when my friend bought this soundtrack for me I was blown away. All the songs kick azz. i think out of the whole cd i only disliked 2 songs. and spineshank has a song on this cd. which must be the best band ever and its nice to see them on such a popular soundtrack. now my taste is my taste. but everytime I listen to this cd i cant help but feel better. I have listened to it so much I think im wearing it out.Highly recomened from me. ... Read more
