NIV Holy Bible by Average Customer Review: Hardcover (01 October, 1978) list price: $16.99 -- our price: $11.55 (price subject to change: see help) US | Canada | United Kingdom | Germany | France Reviews (5)
although I should not respond to the previous scathing review, I feel I must just ask a question: Why is it that non believers are so angry at us? Is it because we're deluded or because they are empty and still in search of their promise. I say "'Why should you care?" And most things taken out of context or literally can be toxic. Just as toxic as the hatred spewed forth by the reviewer who is much more to be prayed for than condemned.

Great Truths of the Bible: 48 Principles of the Christian Faith by Average Customer Review: Audio Cassette (01 October, 1995) list price: $59.99 US | Canada | United Kingdom | Germany | France Reviews (2)
The author reasons mostly from a standard Evangelical Baptist doctrinal perspective, with some unexpected interjections of personal conviction and preference. The "fill in the blank" format does not lend itself very well to promoting class or group discussion. This is a basic, standard doctrinal study best suited for individuals and groups who want to be told what standard Evangelical/Baptist beliefs are. If you want an inductive study in this regard, or to grapple with the personal or societal implications of these beliefs, look elsewhere.

Praying God's Will For Your Life A Prayerful Walk To Spiritual Well Being by Average Customer Review: Paperback (09 October, 2001) list price: $12.99 -- our price: $9.74 (price subject to change: see help) US | Canada | United Kingdom | Germany | France Reviews (4)
I really enjoyed the chapter on Praying to Know the Power of Prayer. This chapter explains why we should pray and the relationship we have with our Creator when we do pray. Another chapter I really was engrossed in (which the whole book drew me in) was Praying to Forgive Yourself, God, and Others. I think this is an area that hinders many Christians, especially me, although before this chapter I would have not known I had issues of dealing with the past issues that I had not forgiven people for. I would highly reccomend this book! I cannot seem to express the depth it has brought to my Prayer Life and Walk with the Almighty. God Bless!

The Power of a Praying Woman by Average Customer Review: Paperback (01 July, 2002) list price: $10.99 -- our price: $8.24 (price subject to change: see help) US | Canada | United Kingdom | Germany | France Reviews (10)
This book is written in a way to encourage actual application of Stormie's insights. It is divided in short, readable chapters, with a prayer and relevant verses at the end of each chapter. This book can be read in any order as each chapter contains a stand-alone topic. While this book is presented in a very reader friendly format, the reader should not fly through this book. Rather, this book is extremely useful for daily devotions and life application. Each segment is useful for meditation and the verses set out at the end are empowering when memorized or frequently reviewed. I have used this book as a daily devotional and have found that consistent application of the teachings set forth in this book will change your life.

Loving God With All Your Mind by Average Customer Review: Paperback (01 January, 1997) list price: $10.99 US | Canada | United Kingdom | Germany | France Reviews (12)
If you have ever struggled with the "If only" of the past, the "What if" of the future, or the "It wasn't supposed to be like this!" of the present, you will enjoy this book.
How do we take control of our mind? The chapters of this book include: Thinking on God's truth, winning over worry, taking one day at a time, remembering to forget what's behind us, perseverance, trusting the Lord, enduring difficult times, accepting the unacceptable. Though the author's target audience of the book is primarily women, men may also benefit from the Biblical principles taught throughout the pages. One thing I like to suggest here is Scripture memorization. David said, "Your word I have treasured in my heart, that I may not sin against You" (Psalm 119:9-11). As we continue to fix the truth of God's Word in our minds, it becomes the dominant influence in our thoughts, our hearts, and our actions. The Word of God is also the "sword of the Spirit"--a spiritual armor piece for the battle in our mind (Eph. 6:17). To live a victorious Christian life, we must control our thought life and think God's thoughts after Him. For those who struggle with a negative thought life or perhaps depression, this book is a helpful guide to overcome that. Our minds change the way we think, feel, and live. But we have control over what we choose to think. This book offers practical Scriptural principles to help us honor and please God with our thought life, and to "love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind." (Matt. 22:37) ... Read more Isbn: 1565078616 |

Fascinating Womanhood by Average Customer Review: Paperback (01 January, 1992) list price: $7.99 -- our price: $7.19 (price subject to change: see help) US | Canada | United Kingdom | Germany | France Reviews (102)
It tells me why my husband says and does the things that he does and helps me to help him. Women want to be treated with respect and honor and dignity and this book shows you how to achieve this on a kind and honorable level. It is not a book about being a doormat and it does not say that you have to give sex on demand as one of the reviewers mentioned. It simply says that when we are kind and loving to others, they will be kind and loving to us. The only thing I found difficult was the part about not being employed. I agree that there is no more noble a career than being a homemaker, but in todays expensive world, there are often times, no way around it and if you're going to have to work, it might as well be something that you enjoy and if you have to go to school for that then so be it. This book does NOT say to train your daughters to not think for themselves, it simply tells you to teach them the beauty in domestication and femininity. This book made me feel proud to be a woman and helped me understand the importance of my role in my family and in society. This book teaches that women have the power and gift to make a happy home and raise God fearing, respectible girls and boys. Take pride in your femeninity and love unselfishly.
If you are living in the 21st Century and are able to see that every person in this world is an individual as well as being equal, you will get nothing from this book but giggles. Times have changed, and this book is for those that are stuck in the past and for people who married their fathers.
If we are to simulate, as many believe, the role of the man in the home to the love that Christ has for the church, then his role, as head, is a service oriented and sacrificial one. He is there to take a leadership and initiating role of service and sacrifice. A role such as this requires utmost care, detail, emotional intelligence, spiritual vigor, maturity, sensitivity, etc, all of which most men are not properly reared to exhibit. If men were being reared with these engrained qualities, they would not be overly dependent on women to placate serious inward character deficiencies as adults. The woman is the man's helpmeet, his equal, not his "fascinating...childlike" helper. It is time people are rightly measured against the bible teachings we claim to support. ... Secrets of an Irresistible Woman by Average Customer Review: Paperback (01 January, 1998) list price: $9.99 -- our price: $8.99 (price subject to change: see help) US | Canada | United Kingdom | Germany | France Reviews (55)
The book, "Secrets of An Irresistible Woman", deals with timeless Principles that Christian women (single and married) should adhere to. One major point of interest for me was that she consistently used scripture to back-up each given Principle. I purchased this book unwittingly, as I'd never heard of the author . . . the title sounded interesting so I ordered it and hoped for the best. The book said "amen" to truths God has whispered to me over the years for instance, "The responsibility of the man is to love the woman; our response is submission" (Ephesians 5:22-33). This is so important because so many Christian women (myself included), have jumped headlong into relationships at the slightest bit of expressed interest from men to our own destruction. Men will pursue what they want; after all, that's their job . . . "He who finds a wife . . ." Ms. McKinney Hammond provides practical insight and suggestions along with a detailed Study that corresponds to each chapter of the book which I found particularly helpful. This book is an easy read . . . she speaks strictly sister-to-sister; as I read, I began to feel as if we were engaged in a conversation. This book is on my Christmas Gift List for all my single (and one of my married) friends. Single Christian Woman, you owe it to yourself to read this book! God Bless you!
