5-0 out of 5 stars Good compliation
This was always a personal favorite of mine since I first heard it. I always loved and grew up watching Charlie Brown, Snoopy and the other Peanuts around. They're such adorable. I can't say enuff about it. It's so fun to listen to and all of the songs are great. I recommend it who like Charlie Brown and/or Peanuts. And also rest in peace to Charles Schulz, the author and creator of the comic strip who passed in Jan 2000, such an interesting loss he was such a good man and honorable person and will be missed. Enjoy HAPPY ANNIVERSARY, CHARLIE BROWN!

5-0 out of 5 stars An all time favorite since the day I first heard it
I have bought this album so many times it just blows my mind.Yet for some reason I keep having to buy it over again. It seems to be an all time favorite of just about everyone that I let listen to it or borrow it, as it never quite seems to make it's way back to me.But that's ok as I'm glad to be able to share it, I would recommend it to any one interested in jazz, both adults and children alike.

5-0 out of 5 stars My personal favorite album in the whole world!
Seriously folks, this album is at the top of my list - and I'm not really a jazz enthusiast!I love all genres of music about the same actually, but for some reason this album is my favorite. It has it all - fast paced grooves, sit-back-and-relax tunes, and bit of humor to boot!It is and has been since it came out in 1989, my all time favorite! ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Secretly the best jazz CD of the last decade
I bought this for George Benson's "The Long and Winding Road", being a big fan of orchestration. All the other songs are worthy of airplay but get none. Each one has an original sound and a different artist. My favorites are "Michelle" and "The Fool on the Hill". Apparently, many are missing out because people I play this CD for really like it once they hear it. It has been my favorite jazz CD since its release but I'm the only one I know who owns it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Beatles + Jazz = 5 Stars
If you're like me, and love the Beatles as well as jazz, then this album is for you. Here you have everything from piano solos, jazz trios, jazz vocals, and larger ensembles. The arrangements and improvisations are brilliant, and I am quite sure that even those who aren't that familiar with jazz will enjoy this album. Especially if they enjoy Beatles songs. I really cannot pick a favourite from this album, they are all so good. Really has to be heard to be appreciated.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Different Twist to Beatles Covers
I like this one better than Come Together: America Salutes the Beatles(although there were some great performances on it). That one I recommendto country fans. However, this review is about a collection of jazzrenditions of Beatles songs and came out just months before The BeatlesAnthology television special. If you like jazz or just like all thingsBeatles, you'll love this!

This CD opens with George Benson doing"The Long and Winding Road" more romantically than the original. Tom Scott plays a nice sax on "The Fool on the Hill".ChickCorea plays a simple piano solo on "Eleanor Rigby".LeeRittenour plays a nice guitar improvization on "A Day In theLife".Nelson Rangell's sax on "Let It Be" is melancholy. The highlights for me are Spyro Gyra's "In My Life", DavidBenoit's lovely rendition of "Here, There, and Everywhere", andArturo Sandoval's lively take on "Blackbird" (on this one, thehorns supply a majestic introduction). The compilation closes with DaveGrusin doing a bluesy piano solo on "Yesterday" (which issupposedly the most covered Beatles tune ever). Also, Peter Max, popularartist back in the 1960's, offers some surrealistic artwork. ... Editorial Review

The first annual Oasis Smooth Jazz Awards ceremony was held in January 2000 in the Dallas-Ft. Worth area, home of the Oasis smooth-jazz radio station. This 14-song compilation showcases previously released tracks that are representative of the artists who performed at the show--folks like Dave Koz and Russ Freeman & the Rippingtons. This collection also boasts up-and-coming acts with brand new music not yet heard on radio. The best of the latter class includes a Stanley Clarke-sounding bassist, Brian Bromberg, doing a highly charged duet with smooth jazz superstar Richard Elliot. Newcomer Grady Nichols may have the best instrumental track on the sampler with "Alone with You," which was co-written and produced by Jeff Lorber.

The producers here did a pretty good job of creating the flavor of smooth-jazz radio, but the choice of Jonathan Butler and Patti Austin as the only vocalists was outstanding. Of course, the chosen songs--Butler's take on the Jr. Walker & the All Stars classic "What Does It Take" and Austin's title track from her album In and Out of Love--contain a lot more urban spirit than most smooth radio stations are willing to air.--Mark Ruffin ... 5-0 out of 5 stars great music
Some talented guitarists here, if you guys like smooth jazz check out Acoustic Alchemy, all jazz from 2 great acoustic players, they also have some nice flamenco songs. They are pretty talented but the lead guitarist Nick Webb passed away in '98, usually their old stuff is the best.

5-0 out of 5 stars Fabulous find
If you love the sound of gentle guitar and want a sampling of some of the best artists this is for you. "The Very Best of Smooth Jazz Guitar" offers a taste of perfect guitar "theme" melodies. What a fabulous idea. I have cd's by some of these artists and love them because it's an entire cd of their own style. This one though is back to back differing styles of some of the best of the best on this lovely instrument. My only disappointment is that some of my favorite smooth groove guitarists are missing on this cd so maybe a volume II would be next? ;)

5-0 out of 5 stars Best Smooth Jazz CD Ever
I purchased this album in Singapore 5 years ago at an HMV music store where it was the featured CD in their jazz section. It was then, and is now the finest Jazz CD I have ever heard.I gave a copy of it to the owner of a Jazz bar I frequent near Tokyo, and he plays it every Friday night.Amazingly popular with guests, and generally anybody that listens to it, it will make a smooth jazz lover out of anyone. ...
