5-0 out of 5 stars Inspirational Transition
This 1994 recording is a transitional album from the inspirational signature sounds of the 1980's to more experimentation in sound begun with 1993's utterly different"Le Voyage."This a varied collection of songs and moods that utilizes the power of Sandi's voice and performance ability in a more contemporary Christian mode and a more limited range of octaves. The beauty and agony of "When I Heal" and the sweet meditation of "Safe Harbour" are just two of the gems."Where the Nails Were" is a follow up to "Via Dolorosa."The highlight is the title song which swings and sways with joy and faith in a style unlike any other Sandi Patty song.

5-0 out of 5 stars I thought I had heard the best of Sandi Patty!
When I purchased her album "Artist of my Soul" I thought that there wasn't a CD by this awesome singer to beat that album.

However, 'Find it on the Wings" is so absolutely wonderful to listen to. The songs she sings brings out the best in her beautiful voice and the vocal backings are awesome as is the accompanying orchestra.

There are two songs I would like to make special comment on. The one is "Make It 'Til tomorrow" because I am grieving the death of my thirty year old daughter and need to hear lyrics like this... to know that God only requires us to live for today and trust in Him for tomorrow.. The other song is "Where The Nails Were" which is such a deep reminder of how far Jesus was willing to go to redeem us. He took upon Himself the guilt of all our sins and nailed it to the cross, where we should have been. Praise the Lord for His grace and mercy!

5-0 out of 5 stars A Pure Joy!
Sandi Patty has clearly established herself as the Christian female vocalist to emulate. Her style and vocal ease have never shone more brightly than on this CD.If you love Sandi Patty, then you will love this CD.5 enthusiastic stars! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Lovely as always...
This CD would be worth buying just for Sandi Patty's awesome version of "The Majesty and Glory of Your Name."But every song is great. It has a perfect combination of upbeat songs like "The Heavens are Telling" and slower songs like the title song.

1-0 out of 5 stars Huge Fan But Disappointed
I am perhaps one of Sandi's biggest fans. However, I was disappointed in this cd.It was billed as a return to the style that made Sandi a household name.Lush orchestrations with soaring vocals were promised.Greg Nelson's name was used to show that this was a return to the times of Make His Praise Glorious and Morning Like This.In my opinion, this cd does not meet those standards. This cd reminds me more of Le Voyage or Another Time, Another Place.

5-0 out of 5 stars Absolutely Flawless!

Sandi Patty is, indeed, one of the most prolific vocalists to grace our ears! I have enjoyed Sandi's music for almost a quarter of a century since that first concert appearance I saw of her in Phoenix, Arizona back in 1982 to a recent Holiday performance with the famed Atlanta Symphony Orchestra back in December.(I had the most distinct honor of presenting her with a single beautiful rose to express my personal gratitude for what her music has meant to me these many years- and she graciously accepted it). Her vocal range is unmatched by most, her musical style is varied, and her performances are spirited.
-
This album is, by far, one of her best with the title track beginning so 'story-like' and ending with the climatic challening, crescendo to "Take Hold Of Christ!"
-
Sandi Patty and her music is constantly evolving and her trust in God, her faith in Christ, and the grace she continues to experience and enjoy in her day to day life with her large family is something that is worth sharing.
-
And through music she does it with absolute flawlessness!

5-0 out of 5 stars Artist For Our Souls!
Artist of My Soul by Sandi Patty

Last week, a good friend, Ms. Persis Taylor handed to me a copy of Artist of My Soul. She mistakenly picked this up instead of Finest Moments. And, I'm glad she did.

For anyone unfamiliar with Sandi Patty, unfamiliar with the world revolving around the sometimes-burdensome title of Contemporary Christian Artist, you're in for a treat.Ms. Patti has a gem in Artist that is extremely difficult to describe except to those who have broader musical tastes. Her classically trained voice, together with a collection of personally reflective love-songs is quietly intense, a tempest felt just above an approving whisper.

Sandi Patty is a polished performer.Period.Usually, opting to hone (hide?) her craft for her (wider) audience but, Ms. Patty doesn't seem to be resting on her laurels any longer; this album is a very intriguing statement and one, which invites a closer look into what she hopes to re-define herself as simply, Sandi Patty, Artist.

There's the positive- yearning to be held- known-dreaming about never ending sunsets- that Carole King spoke so eloquently about in Tapestry, in this album.Love songs sometimes reflects a writer's infatuation with reminiscing, but sometimes it's a plea not to give up: the best is yet to come, this seems the case in "Always." ("When you're feeling down/ When you?re friends are gone/ No more sadness will find us/ We'll be together and we'll be going home/ to sing about the miracle of grace")In "You Set Me Free," she seems to have redeemed the promise ("You set me free/ to run through fields of laughter/and to sing as though/ I have no yesterdays/ You set me free/ from my befores and afters... You give me wings to fly") If Ms. Patty was in the doldrums, Artist signals her resurrection.

Ms. Patty extends her hands to the faithful with "Breathe On Me," and perhaps the album's best, "You Alone."Such combinations don?t always work with everyone, but when one goes through the first 7 songs of implied and explicit spiritual commentary without sounding discordant it is a mark of a successful album. It's impossible for Sandi Patty to make a bad album and if she continues to tread new waters, she'll be in the select cadre of performers whose work is justified solely by name alone.

5-0 out of 5 stars Totally awesome - every song is wonderful!
I got this Sandi Patty CD based on the strength of the reviews I read about it on the Amazon Web site. What a great decision!I just love this CD - every song is so uplifting and inspirational. I feel like I've been in worship after listening to it.When things are tense at work, I will pop it into my CD player and put on the headphones. The music is soothing and reminds me who the Artist of my soul is, Who is molding and shaping my life, ... and the things I'm dealing with don't seem so hard to deal with anymore. This CD is different than Sandi Patty's previous anthem-heavy ones and she doesn't hit as many of her famous high notes. The music is more intimate and worshipful, though, and it's still the wonderful Sandi Patty voice you know and love - and don't worry ... she does hit some great high notes too.If you're a Sandi Patty fan, this is a "must have".If you're not, then this is a good CD for discovering her!

5-0 out of 5 stars Spiritual bliss!
Simply put, buy this album.Listen to the lyrics, hear the impeccable melodies combined with one of history's finest voices, and enjoy.A true inspiration! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars 4 1/2 stars actually; I rounded it up to 5
Rachel Lampa is REALLY awesome! The only reason I rated it only 4 1/2 stars is because the first time I listened to this CD I didn't like it very much. But after listening to it more... I ADORE IT!!!! This is a completely great CD with lyrics that actually glorify God and it's obvious she has enough talent to make it! Go Rachel!

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Music That Glorifies The Savior
Rachael has a beautiful, controlled and strong voice that belies her age.Her voice is not whiny and weak like some other popular singers out there.I especially enjoy "Blessed", "Shaken", and "Hide Me".This CD is especially great because Rachael masters so many different styles with ease while making it fun.Of course, the message is undeniably all about Jesus Christ; these songs do not water the message down. You don't have to wonder who Rachael represents when you listen to her music.I listen to the entire CD over and over again without tiring of the songs. This is one of the best Christian albums ever.

1-0 out of 5 stars Well,
I'm nota huge fan of Rachael Lampa, but Live For You is pretty good and Rachael Lampa is good too. But Kailidoscope? Well, This iswhat i think:
*The music is all over the place and is not very good at all
*The songs aren't very upliftibg
*Rachael doesn't look as cool as she usually does. Whats up? Pus she shows off with her voice TOO MUCH
No offence anyone, but it's not a good album really, in my opion. Her othersare okay, apart from Blur, Im not really a fan though, there are lots more enjoyable albums. If you're totally serious about RL, than grab the CD after listening to the clips. But if you like various different albums and are not serius about Rach, maybe it's not for you..

5-0 out of 5 stars YOUNG HOT CHRISTIAN ARTIST
I ADORE THIS CD. IT'S TAKES ME AWAY AND MAKES ME PROUD 2 BE ME.IT HAS A SOUND THAT MAKES U HAPPY 2 BE SAVED AND A CHRISTIAN.THIS ARTIST IS SOMETHING ELSE. NOT 2 MENTION SHE GOT AN OFF THE CHAIN VOICE.....

Editorial Review

Eight releases, 14 No. 1 radio hits, top reputation as a live act--notbad work if you can get it. That's what the Newsboys have accomplished in 14 years, and the scope and breadth of their success is documented well on this 17-track hits collection. In songs like "Shine," "Take Me to Your Leader," "Spirit Thing," and "Step Up to the Microphone," the Newsboys magically melded a modern pop beat with a strong, spirit-filled message. The end results were endearing radio hits that sounded fresh, vibrant, and nonapologetic for their religious zeal. And that explains why these lads from Australia garner such a buzz in the Christian pop world. The Newsboys never met a pop hook they didn't like, a fact all too apparent when listening to this collection. But they do it so well. Longtime Newsboys fans will appreciate the remake of "God Is Not a Secret," featuring a blistering rap from DC Talk's Toby McKeehan. Three new tracks--"Joy," "Praises," and "Who?"--give listeners a hint of what's to come. --MichaelLyttle ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Album
Shine is a superb collection of Newsboys hits.

It has a variety of previous great hits along with several new songs.'I'm Not Ashamed' is one of the all time classic Christian rock hits.'Shine' is a very upbeat tune with a positive message.'Joy', which was new on this album, is a very energetic, inspiring song.

There are several 'fun' songs included such as:'Breakfast' and 'Spirit Thing'.

All in all, this is a great album. You won't be disappointed.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Must-Have!
My son actually led me to this album through the "Breakfast" song...one of my all-time favorites, can't get it out of my head -- and don't want to. Even if you can't stand any other song on the album, this song makes it worth the price (and you may find out you do like the rest!).

Not only is it good music -- it is thoughtful music.

5-0 out of 5 stars And I like it! and I like it yeeeaaaah, yeah, yeah, yeah!
As I stated perfectly in my list (check your local listmania guide), this album is THE premier greatest hits album for probably THE greatest Christian band.Pick it up, that's all I can say really. No matter how long you've been a Christian, "Shine" has been a staple on our listener supported radio stations.Going platinum plus, this album is carried by EVERY POPULAR NEWSBOYS SONG EVER.Shine:Hits doesn't leave out any of there 16 hit singles. But I love quirky reviews, so here enough with the fan crap.Take an Australian band that loves your 80's type music (see Erasure, Pet Shop Boys, INXS, Smiths, Etc.), give them bad/thick accents, grow the hair out and you have an ample example of pop.As you listen to "Joy" and "Take me to your leader" you can't help but feel the cheesy and corny virus move throughout your body. It's these happy feelings that let you know the Newsboys are good at what they do.Some songs almost sound too Erasure-esque, particularly "I'm Not Ashamed".I gave this album five stars for representing a band perfectly in a greatest hits album. But be warned, if you don't like happy pop songs, you will laugh this album off. ... In recent years there have been an increasing number of Christian musicians who have forgone personal expression to be solely devoted to the worship arts. Some are saying that this is nothing short of a worship renaissance aimed toward Christian revival. In the midst of this worldwide awakening, WOW Worship is back with 30 more favorite songs to inspire intimacy with God. This second WOW Worship disc combines the sounds of these worship-faithful artists with some time-tested favorites from the past two decades. Between the '90s storm-tossed "Did You Feel the Mountains Tremble?" and the '80s call-and-response anthem "Victory Chant," all worshippers will recognize at least one of these songs and many will likely recognize all 30 of them. Other highlights include Sonicflood's spiced-up "In the Secret" and Kathryn Scott's "Hungry," live from the London Vineyard. WOW Worship Orange is an unprecedented effort toward joining different worship styles into a unified whole. It is a movement that will surely enrich worship for everyone involved. --Israel Button ... 5-0 out of 5 stars The Best Worship CD!!
I love this CD. This Cd consists of the best worships songs I know. Hungry is such a good song, it is followed by Better is One Day. This song will make you want sing and rejoice. I recommend this CD to all Christians. This is a great CD!!

4-0 out of 5 stars Good But Not Perfect
This album is in my opinion better than the original (Wow Worship Blue). The main reason I voted this a four star is because it still encorperates many of the older songs with the new.It is still a good buy though and I would say that it is about half and half for the old and new issue.Basically, what I want to say is that this is a very good album though it would be better if they used some more of the newer material to get it around and for a new experience with the God.

5-0 out of 5 stars A rousing compilation of mostly modern worship songs
I enjoy worshiping the Lord to these modern day worship classics. I especially like the first CD in this set, the songs "Light the Fire Again," "Rock of Ages," "We Want to See Jesus Lifted High," "In That Day," "In the Secret," and "You are God" are just awesome, catchy, melodic worship songs to the Lord. The second CD slows down the pace a little bit and most of the songs are not quite as edgy and tuneful as the songs from the first CD, but "Awesome God," "Shine Jesus Shine," and "God is Good All the Time" deliver the goods.

If you enjoy worshiping the Lord, this is a great collection of modern day worship classics. ... Read more

Wow 2000, a 30-song collection by contemporary Christian music's top artists, is the pick of the litter thus far. Since 1996, the Wow series has wooed and won a large youth-oriented audience, with each of the yearly discs going platinum in exponentially rapid time. Strongly committed to youth issues and preserving family safety and harmony, Wow products contribute a sales percentage to charity and Wow 2000's share goes toward four antiviolence organizations. Additionally, this year's discs are encoded with software that provides Internet access while screening out objectionable content. As for the music, Moms and Dads will have no quibbles. On the purple disc, Third Day and Caedmon's Call deliver country-inflected delights, tunes from Jennifer Knapp and Plumb beg for repeat plays, while Audio Adrenaline and the O.C. Supertones pump things up. The silver disc showcases favorites Jaci Velasquez, Rebecca St. James, and Sixpence None the Richer, who contribute their hit "Breathe." --Paige La Grone ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Some outstanding tracks. . .
Some of the songs on these two CD's were GREAT, but some did not appeal to me (this is just MY opinion). My favorite songs are "I Want to Know You (In the Secret)," "Stranded," "Show You Love," "Can't Live A Day," and "Friend of Mine (Columbine)".Another good song is "Waiting Room".I recommend this CD to anyone who likes good Contemporary Christian music.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great! Amazing! WOW!!
The WOW selection of Christian CDs is amazing. They have compiled CDs full of the best of today's contemporary Christian artists, and have done it successfully. With WOW 2000, you get a little bit of everything. From my personal favorite, dc Talk, to Chris Rice, to Third Day, Jaci Velasquez, Audio Adrenaline, Jars Of Clay, Michael W. Smith, etc. This list goes on and on. There is even a song by The W's from the show VeggieTales called 'The Rumor Weed Song' which is obviously geared toward little children but is great for people of all ages. The WOW collections have amazed millions of adults, teens, and children all across America. You can not go wrong by buying these collections. The songs are very spiritual and uplifting and are great for anyone who is trying to start a Christian music collection or for someone who is adding to their collection. I highly recommend this CD. Editorial Review

The folks at Sparrow Records give us the most diverse collection yet in this increasingly popular Wow series. The 30-plus tracks (there are three bonus tracks) testify that contemporary Christian music (CCM) in the first year of the new millennium was worthy. Mainstream acts like Steven Curtis Chapman ("Dive"), Michael W. Smith ("This Is Your Time"), and DC Talk("Red Letters") are represented, but so are developing singer-songwriters like Nichole Nordeman ("Every Season"), Ginny Owens ("Free"), and Jennifer Knapp ("Into You"). The praise-and-worship contingent is also covered with Passion's live version of "America," Third Day's "King of Glory," and Delirious's "God You Are My God." You've even got an old-time gospel testimonial in CeCe Winans's moving "Alabaster Box." P.O.D.'s delightful "Set Your Eyes to Zion" and Avalon's pop masterpiece "Always Have, Always Will" never made it to the top of mainstream CCM radio but get their rightful listing on Wow 2001, truly a wonderful collection of music and a reason to remain hopeful for the future of CCM. --Michael Lyttle ... 5-0 out of 5 stars The best of the WOW Series.
Contemporary Christian music involves such a varied range of styles and mood that to offer a fair and enjoyable sampling is a tough task. In the past, the songs released on WOW anthologies have been conservative at best, profiling mostly the mainstream pop samples of the industry's top artists. With WOW 2001 (and its equally enjoyable 2002 successor -- which is why my review of this and 2001's issue are pretty similar), listeners who prefer their music a little louder and more energetic are, at last, given attention! The heavier tunes are mostly centered within one disc, whereas the more mainstream pop tunes on the other. This is an excellent idea, as people can have a "favorite" of the two discs based on their style. The songs flow extremely well together, and you're left with the sense that much care was taken to make this an overall enjoyable, and educational experience. It's a nice feeling to be able to praise God while at the same time slapping your hands on the steering wheel!

2-0 out of 5 stars umm.........
I think this cd was kindof a dissapointment.Fo one thing, the dc talk song there.I ean, that song is ok but it was made in1998.And the P.O.D. song? They should hve put more rocky songson this cd.This cd is 2001's most forgotten hits to me.I mean, they could have at least put a better P.O.D. song on it.P.O.D. is second favorite band. And whenIheard they were on it, i was s excited. Then i got really mad when i heard it.I think wow 2002 is the best ne yet.I'm not sure about 2003 because i haven't heard it yet.

The newest in the Wow series of contemporary Christian music is asslick-sounding and solid as its successful predecessors. The two-disc set begins with asolid alterna-anthem (DC Talk'splaintively overwrought but super-catchy "Into Jesus") and ends with a kiss (Fernando Ortega's inspiring,Nashville-tinged "Lord of the Eternity"). The compilation's 33 tracks really do run thegamut: the polished, pure pop ofAvalon andPoint of Grace; Christian swing music; the atmospheric, spiritual sounds of MaireBrennan and JaciVelasquez; the spirited belting of rockerJennifer Knapp; a dance-pop act from the U.K.; the veteranconfessional singer-songwriter folk ofAmy Grant; Christian ska; and the late Rich Mullins's moving, visionarygospel-folk. 5-0 out of 5 stars Best WoW CD up to that Time!
I have been a big customer of this CD series.I have bought every one of them from 1996-2005.The first few CDs in the series were not that great, because they would have a few contemporary christian songs and then they had a whole bus load of the crummy Gospel music. However, the WoW 1999 was the first year where they really said o.k. lets lose the gospel and stick to the contemporary rock/pop/alternative/rap Christian music. This set includes Third Days wonderful song "Agnus Dei" originally recorded by Michael W. Smith, Third Day takes it into a new genre Rock. Then there is The W's The Devil is Bad a hip swing tune about the temptation of the devil in our lives. Then we have one of the first appearances of Nichole Nordeman and Jeniffer Knapp.

To tell you the truth, if the company who puts out this series had not put this album out, I would not have bought another WoW CD simply because Gospel is not my kind of Music. However, because this CD was released I have continued buying into this franchise and I have been very pleased with every album since.Thank you for reading my review!

4-0 out of 5 stars One of the Better Wow's
This is one of the best Wow's ever made.It is such a random compilation that it actually works. There were some great bands back then.Three of my favorites Christian Artists, Smalltown Poets, Newsboys, and dc Talk all make an appearance on this stellar album.

4-0 out of 5 stars A Great WOW for your collection
The only reason this album doesn't get 4 stars, is the inclusion of a few songs that I didn't feel mixed well into the collection.Namely, "His Cheeseburger."Don't get me wrong, the Veggietales are great, but the song on its own doesn't make much sense without the video.

However, the album is terrific regardless. It features one song that I am surprised didn't get more airplay "Strollin' on the Water".A very unique sound, that really resonates the longing to take those leaps of faith with Christ. To be fearless for God. ... Read more

From the yellow disc's Celtic treatment of "The River Is Here" and the mellow sweetness of "The Heart of Worship" to the blue disc's rocking "We Will Embrace Your Move" and emotive closer "I Could Sing of Your Love Forever," perhaps most refreshing is the absence of predictable superstars. Though several numbers seem unnecessarily overwrought and nearly sanitary, followers of Jesus will find joy in standouts such as the stately contemporary standard "Father I Adore You," the simplicity of the acoustic-based "Mighty Is Our God," and the homey rock of "Take My Life," an anthem of holy stewardship. --Paige La Grone ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Great to Exercise Both Body and Spirit!
I love this set of CD's.I teach Water Aerobics and I use them alternately for getting the heart rate going and my toning classes. The selection of songs work well to exercise physically and, I've been told by my students, that they felt lead into a rich worship experience by the end of our workout.I lost one of the CD's last summer and am looking to replace it.A great buy!

5-0 out of 5 stars [perfection
I love the WOW CD's but this one really set me into loving them.

5-0 out of 5 stars Eclectic
This set of CD's has an excellent mix of old and new. (The newest worship songs are not here because of the age of the CD's.) This is a great CD for people who want to sing along with songs they know. It is also a great CD for new Christians who want to learn some of the older worship songs, and it is equally as good for older Christians who want to update their worship song repetoire. It is a very sing-along-able CD. It has a mix of upbeat and more reflective songs and styles of artists. The CD does not focus on the artists themselves, instead it focuses on good renditions of popluar songs. I would recommend this set to anyone who likes worship music. ... Read more

We've come to expect excellence from the WOW releases, which annually define the state of Christian music in the Word Entertainment world. WOW 2002 proclaims that all is well in the state and backs up the assertion with some 30 tracks. The red disc contains mostly hits tracks, while the gold disc features more adult contemporary numbers. It's nice to see Joy Williams's wonderful "Serious" single included on the red disc, as well as Nicole C. Mullen's underrated "Witness." One of the year's best singles, "All You Got" from Tait, also anchors the red disc. The gold disc's highlights include "This Day" by Steven Curtis Chapman, "We Delight" by Caedmon's Call, and Bebo Norman's "Cover Me." It's really hard to go wrong here, and if you're trying to show a skeptic that Jesus freaks can make mighty "joyful noise," this is the CD to share with them. --Michael Lyttle ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars One of the best of the WOW Series.
Contemporary Christian music involves such a varied range of styles and mood that to offer a fair and enjoyable sampling is a tough task. In the past, the songs released on WOW anthologies have been conservative at best, profiling mostly the mainstream pop samples of the industry's top artists. With WOW 2002 (and its amazing 2001 predecessor -- which is why my review of this and 2001's issue are pretty similar), listeners who prefer their music a little louder and more energetic are, at last, given attention! Like 2001's sampling, the heavier tunes are mostly centered within one disc, whereas the more mainstream pop tunes on the other. This is an excellent idea, as people can have a "favorite" of the two discs based on their style. Overall the songs flow well together, and you're left with the sense that much care was taken to make this an overall enjoyable, and educational experience. It's a nice feeling to be able to praise God while at the same time slapping your hands on the steering wheel!

4-0 out of 5 stars Decent
This album is decent. i would rather listen to 2003 of Wow, since there is way more music. This is a beginning set into the world, yet there is much rock music to be notice.

5-0 out of 5 stars Not Wow, but Oh My Gosh 2002!
This was the first Christian CD I've ever got, and I immediately fell in love with it.It's how I came to learn about Christian artists and groups.I loved the track by Zoegirl, Elms, and Jennifer Knapp.I could listen to the whole thing for hours and not get tired of it.About 15 times better than Wow 1996 and diverse like nothing else.DEFINITELY a recommendation. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars good variety of music
I love these two cds and believe anyone of any age would enjoy them. They are terrific contemporary worship songs that point our minds to God.My favorite songs are "All in all" by nichole nordeman, "In Christ alone" by geoff moore and Adreinne Liesching, and "Your Love, O Lord" by Third day. There were a couple songs I didn't really care for like Out of Eden's version of "Every Move I Make", "Let Everything That Has Breath" performed by Matt Redman (I like the original version done by Cademan's Call on the City on a Hill cd much better.), and "The Happy Song" byby Delirious. They are not horrible songs though. All the songs sounded up to date, no 80's sounding stuff. If you are looking for great pop worship songs that aren't too loud but not too quiet and boring either, then this is the cd for you.

5-0 out of 5 stars WOWWORSHIP:YELLOW
I love every song on this CD.The songs are uplifting and familiar. This is one CD you can play over and over again.

5-0 out of 5 stars The WOW albums are great because . . . . . . . . . .
What makes these compilations so great is that the songs ARE NOT always performed by the original artist or songwriter. The reason this is so special is because you get to hear other artists take on a song that makes it almost it's own new song. An example of this would be ZOE Girl's version of "Jesus, Lover Of My Soul" from WOW Red. The song by itself is great, but then ZOE Girl's version adds tons of power and depth. Another great thing about the WOW series is that when the original artist does perform, they may do a modified version of the song that you cannot get anywhere else. An example of this is "Draw Me Close " from the Katinas on WOW Yellow or Chris Tomlin & Steven Curtis Chapman doing " We Fall Down" from WOW Red. I love hearing different artists sing the same praise songs because they bring a different flavor and vibe to the song. The WOW series are worth every penny and THE BEST praise & worship music around! ... Read more

Editorial Review

If you're looking to sample the Top 40 of today's Christian contemporary pop, look no further than Wow Hits 2003. Thirty artists and tracks on this diverse release provide enough musical flavors to whet your appetite. While it's not a true snapshot of the year's best, major labels EMI Christian, Provident, and Word combine to create a collection that certainly captures a good share of the market. Generations of CCM pop are represented here with big name acts Amy Grant, Michael W. Smith, and Steven Curtis Chapman, alongside next-generation stars Third Day, Newsboys, Jars of Clay, and Point of Grace. Sweet-sounding highlights include TobyMac's "Irene," FFH's "Open Up the Sky," and Audio Adrenaline's "Ocean Floor." Nicole C. Mullen ("Talk About It") and Jennifer Knapp ("Say Won't You Say") also contribute worthy tracks and strong proof of the prosperity of singer-songwriters in today's Christian music. Also nice to see the inclusion of Paul Colman Trio's "Turn" as a bonus track, since the release was one of the year's finest moments for the genre. --Michael Lyttle ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Pop and classic Christian sound
I have most of the Wow C.D.s, and this one remains my favorite. It stays true to Christian origins and lyrics, but keeps a bright, bouncy quality. Some of the songs performed by women are a little too close to the Spears/Simpson breathy and squeaky, but with singers like Jennifer Knapp (who sounds like the Dido/Amy Lee type), and the boy bands mimick NSYNC and the Backstreet Boys. Despite that, this Wow year one of the better ones.

3-0 out of 5 stars WoW! Um, how 'bout just "Hmmm!"
For the seventh consecutive year, Wow offers a collection of highlights from the contemporary Christian music genre. As a whole, there's a nice mix of styles and artists here. The strongest tracks come from seasoned performers in this genre such as Steven Curtis Chapman, Michael W. Smith, Amy Grant, Jars of Clay, and Newsboys. All five of these artists have featured prominently in the Wow series, and will likely continue to do so. Jennifer Knapp, Selah, Rebecca St. James, and Audio Adrenaline also make a strong showing. Ironically, two of the best tracks on this collection come as bonus features, Chris Tomlin's 'Enough and Paul Colman Trio's 'Turn.' Unfortunately, not everything is golden here. Some of the younger artists like Zoegirl, Jump5, and Stacie Orrico have much to learn from their more mature peers in the industry. In a genre vulnerable to saccharine overload and lyrical cliches, this collection suffers from Christian music's inherent weakness, the difficulty of offering a fresh, meaningful perspective on life as a child of God in a musically inventive or original way.

5-0 out of 5 stars PERFECT
IT was every thing you'll hope for! EVERYTHING!!!!!
It has just variety of artists and songs. IT's a mix of many kinds of music, from rap to pop. Wow 2002 is also a really aewsome cd. THe lyrics are good, you get get a lot out of them.
hope this helped a bit-

Editorial Review

It was only a matter of time before the folks behind the wildly successful WOW series turned their eyes toward Christmas. After all, holiday releases by Christian artists flood the market every year, and there's plenty of stock to choose from. WOW Christmas does, indeed, capture a nice range of styles and artists from releases over the last few years. Among the sweeter moments are Michael W. Smith's new standard, "Emmanuel," Point of Grace's angelic "O Holy Night," Rebecca St. James's quirky "Sweet Little Jesus Boy," and the Mark Schultz-Nichole Nordeman gentle treatment of "Silent Night." There are a couple of curiosities here, as well: Avalon jazzing up the old standard "Winter Wonderland" with a Manhattan Transfer-like big-band sound; and Fred Hammond's soulful "Go Tell It on the Mountain." And if that's not offbeat enough, we also get the flat-out weirdness of Audio Adrenaline's punked-out "Little Drummer Boy." For the most part, though, WOW Christmas spices up the classic Yule tunes with freshness and creativity, making it a must disc for your holiday party. --Michael Lyttle ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars BEST YET
This is one of the best Christmas CD's I have purchased. All the artists do a great job singing some of these old classics.I especially liked Third Days rendition of "Do You Hear What I Hear?".I loved and so do all my friends.Have a Merry Christmas.

4-0 out of 5 stars Nice mix
There is a nice mix of styles and songs on this CD.The only disappointment is some of the more secular/traditional songs, which you can get on other CDs done better by other people. But it's definately worth having.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Christmas CD
Owning all the Wow CDs but the Gospel collections, this CD was definitely not going to be staying on the shelves in the store. I picked it up and brought it home along with a few other Christmas CDs that day. I loved it!

If you are one of those people who gets tired every year of hearing Gene Autry's exact version of Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer sung by Burl Ives, Garth Brooks, etc. then you will welcome the different versions of the songs that are available on this CD set.

However, as previously stated, if you like to hear the same exact songs you grew up with sung the same exact way by a different artist, then this is not for you. Go pick up a different Christmas CD for your collection and save your money. Myself personally, I need different versions and new songs. ... Read more

Editorial Review

Building off the massive success of Worship, Michael W. Smith is back with yet another collection of worship-oriented material. With Worship, Smitty cleverly captured the essence of today's modern worship movement with familiar material. Don't look for such familiarity on the more eclectic Worship Again, yet the passion of praise still radiates strongly from this mostly live release. Smith showcases his masterful composition skills at the very start, merging Rich Mullins's "Step by Step" into his own "Forever We Will Sing." The end result is a dynamic opener that feeds well into the choral magnificence of "You Are the Lord," another one of Smith's own and another reason why he could be considered one of today's finest hymn writers. It's interesting how Smith also includes the Chris Tomlin-penned "The Wonderful Cross," an ethereal-sounding update of an old hymn, as well as the classic-sounding but little known "Ancient Words." The call-and-answer chorus of "I See You" is another highlight, as is the rocking "You Are Holy (Prince of Peace)." Smith's variations on the worship theme never sound stale. --Michael Lyttle ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Awesome CD!!!
This was my 1st Christian music purchase.I heard Michael on the radio, and fell in love with his voice! You will not be disappointed with this one- every song is a winner!
You can feel his enthusiam, and the way the audience reacts to him.Especially love "Lord Have Mercy" and it is also included non-live at the end of the cd.I have since purchased his "Worship" cd also, and it is great too, but I have to say, if I had to choose which I liked better, it would be "Worship Again".Happy Listening!

5-0 out of 5 stars Absolutely awesome!!
I really liked the Worship album and this one is even better.I generally like the songs more and it has a better variety.Once again, I can sing along with this at any time.I'll listen to it and it always puts me in a great mood.

Maybe Michael W. Smith will make a Worship Again Again album???

4-0 out of 5 stars Slower songs, but still good
If you prefer some of the slower-paced praise songs, this is for you.Almost all are down-tempo. Very beautiful compilation, though.Good for easy-listening, sunny afternoon.

5-0 out of 5 stars Yet another anointed classic from the Time Life perspective.
This second installment of the Songs 4 Worship collection from Time Life. This CD too contains many of the choruses and worship songs we have come to love over the years.

This CD will help you keep the joy of your salvation, or else restore it if need be. The reason? The lyrics of each song, bar none, exalts the Lord Jesus in all of His Glory.
