    5-0 out of 5 stars THIS IS............AMAZING!
Alright people, ill be brief.this is possibly the BEST cd i have EVER bought.no question every song is an instant classic, with deep, meaningful (or meaningless) lyrics, all blended together with elements of ska, punk, rock, etc.BUY THIS CD!!! you won't regret this! it just might be the best decision in tour life (beside the decision to marry a woman...or not......)
    GO ON!!!! BUY IT!!!

4-0 out of 5 stars Impressive
This cd was a wonderful surprise. After I bought Turn The Radio Off I didn't think that this would even come close to being as good ,but I was wrong. This cd is much poppier than Turn The Radio Off but it is a great change. This is reel big fishs second best cd.The songs on this cd are also much lengthier than usual but this is ska at it's best!

1.Somebody Hate Me- A great opener, so catchy. 9/10
2.Brand New Song- Another decent song happy song. 8/10
3.She's Famous Now- A good melody but the lyrics are stupid. 7/10
4.You Don't Know- Gets old after a while but great at first. 8/10
5.The Set Up- A great song!Fast and very catchy! 9/10
6.Thank You For Not Moshing- The best on the cd!10/10
7.I'm Cool- A lot of people loved this song, way to slow- 3/10
8.I Want Your Girlfriend- Another song I just didn't like- 5/10
9.Everything Is Cool- Fast and crazy, I loved this song. 9/10
10.Song #3- Another slow boring song, theres nothing to it. 2/10
11.Scott's A Dork- 2nd best song on the cd, quite funny. 9/10
12.Big Star- I tried not to fall asleep during this one- 2/10
13.The Kids Don't Like It- A good song late into the cd- 7/10
14.Down In Flames- Way too long, repetitive. 3/10
15.We Care- Worst on the Cd, way to slow! 1/10
16.Victory Over Peter Bones- Very Very relaxing- 8/10

Overall there are about 10 good tracks on this cd.This is a more layed back softer cd but it is still decent.I would pick this one up first then go to Turn The Radio Off because this is easier to get into although there are a few terrible tracks.

    5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Ska-Punk
BAM! This album is right in your face from the beginning.Excellently executed, flawlessly performed, these songs embody an era of Reel Big Fish that is slightly different from the Turn the Radio Off era. However, the kernel of this band still shows forth in the crisp horn lines, excellent guitar playing, and of course, the full-hearted singing of Aarron and Scott.
The songs on this CD are perhaps slightly less heavy on the horns. Nevertheless, they still have that flair that characterizes this band. When the time comes for horns, they show no embarrasment. The energy and power of the songs still remain in this album by this excellent ska-punk band. This is recommended as well as their other two major albums! ... Editorial Review

This Southern California band certainly has reason to be in good spirits lately. Its fidgety brand of ska-punk went kaput a few years ago, and while they watched several of their contemporaries rinse away, the members of Reel Big Fish inexplicably now find themselves on the same label as platinum pop stars Britney Spears and 'N Sync. Good for them. Cheer Up! is the kind of feisty, kinetic album that people stopped making years ago--"Ban the Tubetop" is pure Oingo Boingo frivolity, "What Are Friends For" revisits the tubular splendor of Fishbone, while "Good Thing" wouldn't sound entirely out of place on a vintage Elvis Costello disc. Not quite as knowingly hip as Sum 41, and clearly not as commercially savvy as No Doubt, Reel Big Fish occupy a precarious position, and they know it. The intro to "Where Have You Been?," the closest thing they have going to a Blink-182 song, features an answering-machine message left by a disgruntled record company employee begging for just one "modern rock" single. 5-0 out of 5 stars Sorry, went to mars, but I'm bck, I got t shirts for everybody
First of all, I'm sick of all you whiners! If you don't love this album, there is four possible reasons. 1. You don't like rock & roll. 2. You're a habitual complainer. 3. You're a snotty, spoiled, shallow person. 4. You've actually have no idea about what melody, harmony, and musicianship is about. The very first time I started this album, and those first lines vibrated in the air, I thought hell yeah! And then the guitar riff from "Good Thing" hit my ears, and my heart started pumping! Then the melody hit me. Great melodies! Then the chourus hit my ears. I thought wow, interesting harmonies, intracate but very easy to listen to. Then I felt energized, and uplifted by the lyrics! It's a drop dead perfect song! Now I know that alot of you narrow minded, Ska heads are not going to dig this If you don't take it for what it's worth. I really hate music classifications. They raise unwarented expectations on music. TAKE IT FOR WHAT IT'S WORTH! It's great rock music, weather you want to call it ska, punk, or some other term they just invented. And the people that fall for that (...), are slaves to the record executive. Go ahead, miss out on a ton of good music and whine some more. Jeeeez, use your own brain. I think anybody saying RBF sold out, actually sold out to the classification board. Again, TAKE IT FOR WHAT IT'S WORTH! is that so hard.

Moving on.... This record has a great mix of different rock & roll. I stress ROCK & ROLL! Somebody loved me is a great high energy song saying what we all think sometimes. Ban the tube top still makes me laugh. Cheer up, is awesome. Don't be fooled by the lines like "life sucks", this song is very positive and uplifting for me ie. "so I won't be the one, not having any fun". They show just how talented they are with New york, New York. Amazing accapella arrangement!. Valerie is top notch. Most people have felt that way about somebody. Boss DJ gets me swaying. And to top off the album, Drunk Again is a great, melodic, smart song. There are af course songs I didn't cover. Believe me they fill in around the ones I talked about to make one of the best albums I've ever heard!

Open your mind, and enjoy this amazing, melodic, and poetic piece of music!

3-0 out of 5 stars Met my low expectations.
Reel Big Fish is a classic ska-punk ska-pop band and I respect them and all ska fans should to.This album not being bad but not a very strong album to.While some songs are great then others just don't sound right. In my opinion this is the worst RBF album but still a decent ska album. This album is quite similar to Why Do They Rock So Hard. This album the horns are great and the ska is still very smooth.

Good Thing- Great way to start the cd!One of the greatest. 9/10
Somebody Loved Me- This one really grows on you. 7/10
Ban The Tube Top- Wow!A great song that gets me excited. 9/10
Cheer Up- The shortest on the cd, a good song overall. 7/10
Where Have You Been- An overated song, gets repetitive. 4/10
Suckers- Amusing, yet way to slow for me. 3/10
What Are Friends For- Relaxing with a jazzy feel, I love it. 7/10
A Little Doubt Goes A Long Way- Another relaxing one. 6/10
Dateless Losers- Best on the CD!Catchy and great horns. 10/10
Valerie- I just coulnd't get into this one... 2/10
Rock'n'Roll Is Bitchin- I love this one! Catchy and cool. 9/10
New York New York- 2nd best on the cd, so smooth and jazzy. 10/10
Sayonara Senoirita- Overall quite boring, but not too bad. 5/10
Boss DJ- Another great one, remindes me of S.R. 8/10
Brand New Hero- A Little too poppy, sounds like Simple Plan. 3/10
Drunk Again- Love it!The best way to end this cd. 8/10

Once again this cd has some great songs but others just don't fit in.This is a little too poppy for me but I'll live, this cd just makes me smile. If your a ska fan get this cd later because this is just a good at best ska cd. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars this is talent
This is my favoriot CD.This was before the band got caught up in bad lyrics and peta.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good stuff

This CD gives me some serious nostalgia, because the first track, "Superman", was featured on the first Tony Hawk's Pro Skater for the N64 and PS1. It's a real throwback for me, and for the rest of you people who recognize it. As for the rest of the tracks, this album is quite listenable. I still don't get why the last track is 36 minutes long when only 8 minutes of it is really used for music. Stupid. But anyway, if you're just looking for some good punk, then get it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Song Rating System
This album is probably my favorite from Goldfinger. Their first self-titled is a very close second. Dan's Coconut Ass is a good album, but not their best work. The same goes for Stomping Ground and Open Your Eyes. Stomping Ground has some very good songs on it, my favorite being "Forgiveness". Check it out if you haven't already. Open Your Eyes has about 6 good ones and the rest kind of suck. "It's Your Life" being my favorite on Open Your Eyes.

To the person who rated "Last Time" the worst song on the album, you need to get your hearing checked, because it hangs in with the rest. There is no bad song on this album.

    Superman- 5/5 Excellent song
My Head- 5/5My second favorite song on the album
If Only- 5/5My favorite song on the album
    Lonely Place- 5/5 Great Song
20 Cent Goodbye- 4/5 Good song
Question- 5/5 And all I gotta say is "F*ck you!"
Disorder- 5/5 My other second favorite song
    Carlita- 4/5Another good one
Too Late- 5/5 Makes me want to beat up my dad
    I Need to Know- 4/5 Very ska-ish
Authority- 5/5 You will respect its Authoritah
    S.M.P.- 3/5 Not really a song
Last Time- 5/5 My other favorite song
Chris Cayton- 4/5 He looks like Satan
It Isn't Just Me- 4/5 Secret song worth waiting for

    Editorial Review

Fans of Goldfinger's likable ska hit "Here in My Bedroom" have a surprise in store on Stomping Ground: there's nary a ska tune on the record. Still, the SoCal punk attitude and general vibe of this smart, high-energy band remain intact. Singer John Feldmann delivers the goods à la Green Day or Rancid through rapid-fire, slightly snotty vocal stylings atop smart and memorable punk-pop melodies. But Stomping Ground, the quartet's first full-length collection since 1997's Hang-Ups, boasts a heavier bent, thanks in part to the addition of bassist Kelly LeMieux (Feldmann's former partner in an early '90s metal-leaning outfit). "End of the Day," with its marching-style chorus and frenetic verses is moshable and memorable, while "Bro" melds Limp Bizkit with Suicidal Tendencies. The cover of Nena's "99 Red Balloons" is fun, but the band fares well on its own, especially on the winning and less-frenetic "Margaret Ann" and the pull-no-punches "Get Away." Stomping Ground may be ska-free, but Goldfinger's music still leaves the listener shaken and stirred. --Katherine Turman ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars They Don't Make Punk Like This Anymore
I really, really sympathize with the contemporary, rock-faring youth of America.

You have nothing like this band.Good Charlotte? Please. They don't have the intensity or power Goldfinger had.GC is an MTV boy band in a somewhat rugged, poser shell of a group. The music was predictable and stale.Bands like Goldfinger don't frequent the Warped Tour anymore, and it's a sorry, sad thing.Anymore it all sounds a little too produced, too calculated and planned. There's no spontanaity, no power, no sincerity. The day of the Boy Band Punk Rockers is at hand, and the genre is in decline. The grassroots, straight-from your garage band really was the likely culprit for corporate abuse, and with the fall of bands like Goldfinger, this was the likely step in the progression of the Corporate strangulation of Rock music the industry experiences today.

Even if Stomping Ground was one of the most polished albums Goldfinger produced, it seriously killed everything else up to that point. It was the greatest achievement punk had made while simultaneously laid the groundwork for its demise. The hooksy, catchy and unbridled passion these cool guys displayed both in the studio and on-stage (if you missed the "Crouching Fish; Hidden Finger" Tour, I pity you) was one of the finer moments of modern corporate rock. Even rock fans outside the punk genre gave these guys due credit for the music they made on this album.Goldfinger was the last bastion of pure, great punk before it was destroyed by Blink 182 and all the boy band poser Punkers destroyed the genre with crappy, 3 chord guitar music and semi-illiterate lyrics.

Give these guys due credit. You may hate punk rock as much as I did before Goldfinger and after them, but these guys made it pallatable for everyone and they made it a hell of a lot of fun.One listen to this record and what I'm saying will become painfully obvious.Stomping Ground remains one of the greatest punk albums ever recorded.

5-0 out of 5 stars Goldfinger's best work yet!
Goldfinger changed it up quite nicely on their 2000 release of "Stomping Ground". Their previous work was more ska friendly. It was interlaced with horns and quick guitar rhythms. "Stomping Ground" was a move to the heavier side, without the horns.

As a huge fan of the earlier ska/punk sound, I found myself a little worried about their decidedly heavy, more metal sound. To my amazement, this has become my favorite Goldfinger album yet. Their influences sound like they come from "The Clash" and "The Kinks". The songs are very well written, and performed with great intensity. The loss of horns is welcomed change after you listen to the album. The album is ever changing, and doesn't include a dull moment.

If you find that you like the punk/metal sound of "Stomping Ground" more than it's predecessors, I would also recommend their 2002 release of "Open Your Eyes", as it has a heavier sound as well.

Goldfinger seems to be taking all the right steps of your basic punk/ska band. They are changing with the times on each one of their albums, not recycling material over and over, which several punk/ska bands have a problem with. I am anxious to hear a new album, to see how they've raised the bar for punk/ska once again.

5-0 out of 5 stars Greatest CD ever

Only the shrewdest music fan will remember that Goldfinger once threatened to trouble artists like No Doubt and Sugar Ray on the charts. The band's commercial stock has dipped since the runaway success of 1996's smirking ska-punk hit "Here in Your Bedroom," but, despite several key lineup changes, the members have worked hard to maintain a respectable level of belligerence in their music. If they were only younger and worked off those beer guts (and perhaps wore less clothing) they would undoubtedly give Blink-182 chase with adrenaline-packed songs like "Open Your Eyes" and "SpankBank." And if all were right in the world, "F*** Ted Nugent" ("I wish that he'd be gone / Chauvinistic Republican kills animals / He forgot how to write a song") would find a comfortable home on TRL. --Aidin Vaziri ... 4-0 out of 5 stars This CD Brings Me Back...
There is nothing special about this cd, it's simple, catchy, fun pop-punk. However, I listened to this cd during a somewhat rough time in my life, and I must say, it really helped me get through it. Now, whenever I listen to it, it brings back such a nostalgic feeling, and I love that. This is a great summer album. Don't expect too much from it, and you will enjoy it.

5-0 out of 5 stars My favorite CD
Excellent lyrics, excellent beats. This is the goldfinger CD to buy, do NOT buy "Darin's Coconut Ass" because it's really bad compared to this.

4-0 out of 5 stars Goldfinger-Open your eyes
When i first heard this CD was coming out i thought it would be a little more metal, but not at all.It is pop punk, or punk rock. They took the whole vegitarian thing a little too far, but it doesnt effect how good the music is.Its definatly official, goldfinger has no ska left in them, which kinda sucks. The Best songs are spokesman, descision, tell me, radio, and FTN.FTN is a really funny song that cusses about 50 times in a minute.Id say if you like any other goldfinger you'd like this too, even tho its slighty changed. You will also like this if you like Offspring, Green Day, or good charlotte.Overall this is a good, more mature sounding goldfinger CD. ... I met the Aquabats back in 1998 after a show and these guys (and gals) are class acts. They deserve far more than given but they're fine were they're at. Although ska died out pretty fast this album is beyond just ska. You have to understand their schtick to enjoy this album

OK OK, so you probably take one look at the cd cover of one of the aquabats cds and go LAME!! But my friend you are mistaken. The aquabats are far from lame, but closer to one of the greatest ska bands i have ever heard. the aquabats have an uncanny way of making u want to keep listening even though they sing about lame stuff. the horns are amazingly good, and everything about them kicks major ass. if you like ska you will absolutely love this album, which in my opinion is their best tho i own return of the aquabats and myths, legends, and other amazing adventures volume 2. go pick this up right now if you are a skankin fool. this is ska at its best! ... Editorial Review

Musically, the Voodoo Glow Skulls rank with the best of Southern California's legendary ska-punk bands. Commercially, the band hasn't achieved the sales of such contemporaries as the Long Beach Dub Allstars, No Doubt, and Goldfinger. It's a shame, because the Skulls are just as tight and furious as they come. Regardless, fans of the band will continue their love affair--whether anyone else does or not--with Symbolic, another snug, two-fisted assault on unhappy feet. The surprise here is how well the (somewhat) slower material fares. "The Drop-In" skanks along comfortably, aided by mighty guitar and horn blasts. "The Devil Made Me Do It" sports a sinister reggae sound that's evil yet sunny. "Silencer" is the big rave-up, an angry rant against police brutality. Even if Symbolic is a testament to an oft-exploited sound, the band keeps the feeling loose and the music tight. --Jason Josephes ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Go VGS!!!
These guys are awesome both live and on CD. This is one of the first that got me into punk/ska music years ago. They keep it real. They have their own destinctive sound/style and they stick to it. My favorite on this CD is, of cousre, "el coo cooi" hehe This is a must-have for any ska fanatic.

4-0 out of 5 stars ONE OF GGGGGGGARTH'S HIDDEN TREASURES!
I bought this CD when I was about 15 or 16 and it still plays in my stereo when I'm into a little underground mix of chicanos playing by there own set of rules. What I mean is that this record contains crisp hardcore with strong connecting ska riffs and choruses. This is probably all thanks to producer GGGGGGGarth who has worked with the best of the best and is probably one of the most influential unsung heroes in the music business back in the day of the 90's! Anyways the album never let's down and just like the cover of the CD it sounds like a hot rod on some hopped up fuel. If your into a little different mix than this is something worth checking out. The band contains a guitarist , a bass player, a drummer, and a singer but also with a horn section as well so expect the unexpected when you listen to the VOODOO GLOW SKULLS!

5-0 out of 5 stars these guys rock!!!
this was my introduction to VGS, and what can i say i was completely blown away and imagine to my surprise being a cali girl these guys are from my hometown!they are even more awesome in person!!!my brother loves them too and takes his friends to all the local shows. i love so many songs on here but especially: El Coo Cooi, fat randy, malas palabras, land of misfit toys, closet monster. these guys are awesome!!! ... Editorial Review

Virtually an institution after a decade on the scene, Boston's finest ska band continues to deliver an extreme adrenaline rush on its fifth album, which was produced by Paul Kolderie and Sean Slade. The metal edge in the Bosstone's particular brand of skacore comes further to the forefront this time, while songs such as "Noise Brigade" and "Royal Oil" rank among the catchiest they've recorded. And Nate Albert continues to carve out a new role for the guitar in ska-influenced music. Jim Derogatis ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Sweet!
This cd is friggin' awesome. If you like the Bostones or ska or rock buy this cd. It rules!

5-0 out of 5 stars Let's Face It!
Quite possibly the essential ska album to own.The Mighty Mighty Bosstones outdid theirselves on this album. From tracks 1-5, they are all amazing ska songs.
    1) the Noise Brigade- 10/10- this song is an amazing first track and really sets the fun, fast-paced drive of the cd.
    2) the Rascal King- 10/10- extremely catchy lyrics make this song astounding and great horns leave this song ringing in your ears.
    3) Royal Oil- 10/10- sending a great message about staying off drugs and a laid back beat with an unbeatable chorus, Royal Oil is certainly regal.
    4) The Impression That I Get- 10/10- if you haven't heard this, you need to buy this cd!
    5) Let's Face It- 10/10- Probably the most overlooked song by the Bosstones, Let's Face It has sweet bass, awesome horns, and a great message- extremely fun!
Now, from track 6-12, things get a bit more harder and this is where the guitar really shines.
    6) That Bug Bit Me- 10/10- Super awesome guitar and just extremely powerful, this song can be exciting for anyone.
    7) Another Drinking Song- 9/10- this track slows things up a bit...and sets the dark mood for the rest of the album. However, don't walk away from it just because it may be too dark...the chorus livens up and you'll find yourself singing it for days!
    8) Numbered Days- 9/10- the bass seems to be the driving force in this song, and wow does it work.
    9) Nevermind Me- 9/10- a pretty darned neat chorus makes this song memorable.
    10) Break So Easily- 10/10- the transition between dark and light-heartedness makes this song a complete gem.
    11) Desensitized- 10/10- Fast, furious, and ultimately kick butt.
    12) 1-2-8- 10/10- quite possibly the most catchy chorus ever, as the verses are pretty hardcore and dark, then this bouncy chorus comes in and THIs will definitely be sung for days and daaays!
So come on, just GET THIS CD!It's absolutely fantastic and shouldn't be passed up.Besides, the Bosstones could use your support.

4-0 out of 5 stars MMB Strikes Again
After hearing "The Impression That I Get" I knew i would greatly enjoy this album. The cool thing is you don't even need to listen to much ska to enjoy this album because many of the songs have a nice punk rock edge.

My Favorites include "Noise Brigade","The Impression That I Get", "Let's Face It","The Rascal King", and "Break So Easily".
Although the song "That Bug Bit Me" is a bit of a let down to most fans, almost all the other songs will make you happy. So if your feeling down and need to get happy then i suggest you buy this album. You'll be glad you did. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Quality
I recently got this CD. When i first popped it in, i found it a little to un-pollished and raw. I didnt like at all. But i went back and made my self listen to it. Now i love this CD. The horn lines are infectouse and relevent, and nop superficial add-ons like LTJs more recent CDs. The songs that stick with me are Johny Quest Thinks We're Sellouts, Krazy Glue and automatic, one of my favourite songs now. I would urge everyone to get this disk

4-0 out of 5 stars A very enjoyable title
I think that Less Than Jake exhibits phenomenal brass workk in this album. In fact, i think it's there best in that regard. However, I don't give it five stars because the vocals are lacking in some songs and, in all honesty, can get annoying. But the intramentals really make up for it. The bass and ska guitar riffs are all catchy. But, like I said before, where this album shines is in its horns, as they create a really temendous sound unique to LTJ's sound. If you don't like traditional Ska, with it's blazng horns and fast beat rythum guitar, then you'll have a heard time getting into this CD. This is truely a CD for the lover of Ska not just "rockers", becuase they ultimately won't get it. I personally recomend this album for a the avid ska listener, and anyone who takes an interest in ska or skacore.

4-0 out of 5 stars Breakout album

5-0 out of 5 stars My Intro To Ska
I had never heard of Ska, or LTG, until I heard the song "All My Best Friends Are Metalheads". It still remains my favorite LTG song ever...but that's not the point. The point here is that I only have one song rated 3 stars on iTunes from HR. This is easily one of the best albums I've ever purchased; it's inspired me to want to start my own Ska group. But, anyway, onto the ratings.

    1. Last One Out Of Liberty City: ****
    2. Help Save The Youth Of America From Exploding: ****
    3. All My Best Friends Are Metalheads: ****** - That's right, six stars! Out of every song I've ever listened to, this is in my top 5 songs (#4, actually), trailing behind American Idiot, Stay Together For The Kids, and St. Jimmy.
    4. Five State Drive: ****
    5. Nervous In The Alley: *****
    6. Motto: ***
    7. History Of A Boring Town: ****
    8. Great American Sharpshooter: ***** - It has a beat that really gets me flowing with the music, kind of like St. Jimmy.
    9. Danny Says: *****
    10. Big Crash: *****
    11. Theme Song For H Street: ***1/2 - Meh, not the best song I've heard.
    12. Richard Allen George...No, It's Just Cheese: **** - REALLY weird song...
    13. Scott Farcas Takes It On The Chin: *****
    14. Al's War: ****

This song is okay but LTJ could have done a much better job.
    Big crash:10/10
Oh my God!I love this song! It rules and has a great message for punks everywhere!
    Theme song for H street:10/10
This song is really good!It is so catchy!
    Rich Al George,no it's just cheez:10/10
This is the weirdest most bizzare song I've ever heard but it is very fun to listen to.
Scott Farcas takes it in the chin:10/10
WOW! What an awesome song! I absolutely love the horn section and slower tempo of this song!
    Al's war:9/10
This is a catchy little tune but it isn't great.

2-0 out of 5 stars The Best Ska Album Ever? No just overated Ska!
When I heard people raving about how this album was so good I had to buy it.After hearing Losers, Kings, and Things my expectations were quite high. When I heard how good History of a Boring Town and Scott Farcas were and when I heard them for the first time I was upset. The real problem with this cd is that all of the songs sound the same. The ska feel is still there but the vocals and the horns sound exactly the same.Yes the songs are good and some are awesome but this cd runs together so badly.Every songs sounds the same, yes every song! This cd bores me everytime I listen to it because this album was supposed to be good, this was a major upsetment. When I read these reviews it makes me sick, it's like the only good ska bands out there are LTJ and Reel Big Fish.If you listen to more than five bands then you would find ska way better than this.

However this album isn't a complete bust. There are two stand out tracks. #1, and #6.I have to listen to this cd about once a month or else I get tired of it way to fast.If you want better ska get a Mustard Plug or a Hepcat cd.Basically this album is like watching Pimp My Ride, it's ok once in a while, but that's it. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars A little inconsistent, but a lot of fun to listen to
This album contains a good portion of Five Iron Frenzy's best songs, including their consensus best song, "A Flowery Song." There are some tracks I find a bit annoying, boring, or repetitive in the middle of the album, but the beginning and the end make it worthwhile. A lot of the songs won't be the type to be your favorite song, but they're enjoyable to listen to. Not just that, but unlike a lot of ska, Five Iron Frenzy songs often make you want to sing along. The lyrics are actually a bit heavy with political and social commentary, but that's easy enough to ignore if you want to.

If you're looking for some poppy ska, buy this album, and you won't regret it, if only because you'll hear "A Flowery Song."

5-0 out of 5 stars FiF in general
This cd, like all of FiF's is a great cd, with meaningful, and sometimes comical songs... with a religious attitude and all the talent they need, i'd rush out and not only get this cd, but all of them... they're not often blatantly religious about things, rather, they have hidden meanings in thier songs, and address problems with the real world, and real people...

Songs like "A Flowery Song"(our newest album ever, and live...), "Amalgamate"(upbeats and beatdowns), "World Without End"(all the hype that money can buy) and my favorite, "Every New Day" (live) and the alternate version of it "On Distant Shores" from their last album (the end is near) are beautifully written and performed songs about God...

Songs like "My Evil Plan to Save the World"(quantity is job1), "Suckerpunch"(live), and "Handbook for the Sellout"(live) are more punk/ska type songs, that still have their own significances...

overall, FiF is a great band, with lovely, and sometimes funny songs... you should get this cd... buh, if you only get one... get the "Live: Proof the Youth are Revolting" cd...

4-0 out of 5 stars A must have.
My wife actually put me onto FIF - and she hates punk and ska!I love ska and punk and told my wife one day that I wished I could find a Christian ska band and she found FIF for me (this was a few years ago).I thought OK, cool, but let's see if they're any good.Yup, they're one of the best. I get a kick out of the sarcasm in "The Old West" and "Beautiful America."The quote from Westside Story - priceless."A Flowery Song" has to be the most creative arraingment of the Doxology that I've ever heard (I'm almost tempted to give this disc 5 stars for "A Flowery Song" alone). A bit of advice - get this disc now and listen to it over and over - you'll have trouble finding anything much better.

    1-0 out of 5 stars unhip-pos
I can't believe that this CD is still being sold? I remember when I saw them at The Hammerstien Ballroom in New York. During the big internet buisness boom of 1999, Yahoo had done some big promotion with Smash Mouth and Lucious Jackson. Interns from Tweck.com (which is probably out of buisness by now)were handing out free cup warmers. The Hippos were so awful that the whole audience began to throw them at the band. The drummer was pelted and one of the warmers hit his snare drum. Seriously, if you like Ska music then please stick with the classics like the father of Ska, Prince Buster or Madness. If you want modern ska then check out Less than Jake, and Aquabats. Don't waste your time with this.

1-0 out of 5 stars Absolute Death
...or torment or agony or anything like that would be the word association you'd use about The Hippos after listening to this monstrosity. Music this bad and purely replicated is usually only reserved for the radio or MTV, but perhaps they even have standards now after hearing this. This CD's most monumental and worst blunder is without question the songwriting. This is the most braindead, stagnant, stale, cliched, tired, worn, inane, overused, hackneyed collection of dribble you will ever find. These words mostly sound like they're from the secret diary of a 12-year old boy who is starting to "feel funny" about girls and wants to relay all the fun little games and inner feelings he has for that certain girl of his dreams to somebody. Well, since it was me who was the recepient of this puberty venting, I feel like responding by hitting him over the head with a battle shield. Not only that, like I said these are the oldest, worst cliches and tired slang used incessantly to get this across. Most likely Beyonce would even refuse to sing these lyrics because they would be too hackneyed even for her. I shouldn't go into too much detail, but about 80 percent of the songs feature some moaning about a girl who won't understand him or won't look his way. Sound excruciatingly familiar?? I can only think this is a sneaky plan to keep putting out this putrid nonsense until a girl like Beyonce steps in and says she'll go out with him if he stops making this music for good. I'm not sure how we'll stop Beyonce, though this is a more immediate problem. Although to get to the rest of this burden, let's get to the singer's voice, a stagnant, unoriginal sound that also sounds like a guy going to great lengths to sound as geeky as possible, like maybe an 18 year old choir boy or something, who knows. The musicianship is overall weak, like a pop song it has a basic beat usually initiated with a lead or bass guitar, then they have all manners of instruments from synthesizers to horns that just basically are layered on top with no real rhythm so that just acts as the pointless filler sound effects thrown into pop songs. I think a single word perfectly describes this CD, however it can't be placed here, so I'll just say that although it says this CD was produced in LA, it sounds more like it was produced in a horse's rectum, if you follow me. Also, seriously, the 12th track could possibly be the WORST SONG EVER MADE, although don't buy this to see for yourself. I'll leave you with a small taste of this cliche tribute. (except 12- that is too much) "I can't believe what she said it went straight to my head" (Backstreet's back all right) "something in the way she looked at me today I'm in love" "you think you know how I am but you don't know who i am"-(Fred Durst) "every night I dream about being your man" OK that's enough

    Editorial Review

The major-label debut from ska punks Save Ferris isn't exactly a classic, but it is a lot of fun. There's no middle-ground reaction to their cover of "Come On Eileen"; everyone seems to either love it or hate it. If you're in the latter group, skip it and listen to "The World Is New," "Superspy," "Goodbye," and "Little Differences." Save Ferris are at their best when they're up-tempo, and fortunately there are plenty of up-tempo songs on this album, peppered with catchy hooks, the requisite horns, and Monique Powell's considerable voice (one of Save Ferris's major strengths). While not fantastic, It Means Everything is a promising album, with several moments that verge on brilliance. --Genevieve Williams ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars This is the best ska cd ever!!!
I practically listened to this 24-7 when I was in school and will still listen to it today.I think Monique Powell's voice is amazing and they blow smoke on No Doubt's ska efforts. The best track on the cd is It Means everything. If you like Save Ferris, try Goldfinger, Reel Big Fish and The Aquabats.

4-0 out of 5 stars Excellent CD
I love ska/punk music, but I think I enjoy the vocals on this CD more than anything else. The group's lead singer, Monique, is outstanding. She is quite possibly the best singer I've ever had the pleasure to hear. Her voice is very powerful and she has excellent range. The rest of the group compliments her work very well on this CD.My favorite tracks are Superspy, Come On Eileen, and Goodbye (my personal favorite). The only reason I give it 4 stars instead of 5 is because -- at least in my opinion -- it's not one of those CD's where EVERY track is a great song.Still, it's definitely a good buy.

5-0 out of 5 stars Fun Lyrics and Fast Paced Songs With Punk Edge!!!
I bought this cd after listening to the "10 Things I Hate About You" soundtrack about 100 times. Save Ferris sang the song "I Know" and I absolutely loved it, so I bought this cd on a whim. I am definitely glad that I did! This cd is filled with fun, edgy songs, and infused with great lyrics and awesome brass sections that make you want to get up and dance. Some of my favorites on the cd include "Lies,"The world is new," and their fast and peppy remake of the classic "Come on Eileen." For anyone who loves ska and punk with a strong female lead singer, I definitely recommend this cd and Save Ferris!!!!! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Gotta love the funk-vibe-ska
I saw these guys at a outdoor festival in 1995 at Ak-sar-ben.They r-o-c-k-e-d.They were the third best band there, which is fine, since 311 and Violent Femmes were 2 and 1.The spectacle of seeing this band take a dance break made me fall in love with them right away. When you've got six guys, some of them still holding horns, dancing around the rhythm section, you've got something.I have always like "Jump Right In", and the deeper tracks are rockers too.

5-0 out of 5 stars Awesome CD
Master of Styles is an awesome cd to rock out to-its really upbeat and gets you going. Very similar to 311.

    3-0 out of 5 stars MO-funk.
Don't know if these guys are together anymore, but they left behind a few decent albums, especially this one. "Master of Styles" is just what it says it is. Parts funk, punk, ska, and a general party vibe. They do remind me of "Fishbone", "311", and others of the kind. Just not as good. The single "Jump right in" is really good though, and probably the best track. I also like "Closer", and "Gene Machine" is an old "Bad Brains" song. If only "The Urge" were as good as their influences. I did see a show of theirs in Missouri once, and afterwards my roommate slept with the singer. I guess she just had the urge. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Hö!
This is pure sh**! I hate this band...it is like System of a Down or Tool...full of rubbish!

    5-0 out of 5 stars Oh...my...God...
This is the most amazing thing to happen for most Misfits fans. Though I got mine at an indie store missing the badge, it still rules so much. Every song on here has some sort of quality that seperates itself from the other, but every misfits song is just a sludgy gooey mess.

This is good for fans of any Pop-Punk, Rockabilly, or even Metal. There's something for everyone on here. It's really hard NOT to like The Misfits.

4-0 out of 5 stars Its super Kewl
Well its pretty kewl.... I got into the misfits not that long ago and the first cd i bought from them was Collection 1 and 2 and thats basically most of the old misfits but if you're a true feind you would buy this it has a lot of great melodies. Im impressed with Glenn Danzigs voice its way better then Michael grves or Jerry Only...... Basically if you have 60 dollars lying around buy this freaking set ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars great
this is a really good cd. a great cd. the only thing that i mind is when i was reading these reviews i noticed people were saying the cd was great then naming songs that were "the best" i say every song was equally great. my favorite cd ever.

5-0 out of 5 stars impossible to describe
Energy is one of those CD's you'll never forget.Look at the top of this page.So far there are 110 reviews, and it still has five stars. We've definitely discovered something here.Reviewing each song is pointless (plus theres 27, so it would take a while) because every one is good. You can't even try to hate any songs.Songs like Vulnerability and Unity really hit home with America's state right now.I don't really know what else to say, except that Operation Ivy is something you've never heard before, and the chances of discovering something like this again in your lifetime is slim to none.

5-0 out of 5 stars Scrumptrulescent music
This is one of my favorite albums, period.Energy simply never gets old, each song has its own energy to it, and you will find yourself singing along to Jesse's unforgettable lyrics and unique raspy voice that makes the band Op Ivy. Every song has so much depth and ingenuity to it that its amazing that many songs are basically just four chords strewn together. But the band works, and sounds great. After listening to this record every other ska album just doesn't sound as good...yes even Rancid ain't got sheet on Op Ivy. ---->http://www.operationivy.com/ ... Read more
