5-0 out of 5 stars They Put Limp Bizkit to Shame
What's wrong with music today? In an age where so called rap-metal bands such as Limp Bizkit and Kid Rock are blasted non-stop on the radio and MTV, bands like (hed)pe, with twice as much talent, are unknown. It truly boggles the mind. (Hed) is one of the only bands to successfully combine elements of metal with rap. Their energy is absolutely incredible and they sound great. This whole album is excellent and I world be hard pressed to choose a favorite song, but Serpent Boy, Firsty, and TOS are probably my favorites. (!Cliche alert!) MCUD really can flow and lay down some dope rhymes. I know that sounds really stupid, but it's true. ... Perhaps one day, (Hed) will gain commercial success in the vein of Bizkit or Korn, but I doubt it. And in a way, I'm glad. Ordinary TRL viewers probably couldn't compehend music of this caliber. Watch out for (Hed)'s 2nd album, "Broke" out on August 22nd.

5-0 out of 5 stars Can I get an "Awwww Yeahhh! " ?
This disc f'in rocks my world. Thanks to the Strangeland soundtrack, I felt the desire to check these guys out further... and I was not disappointed! (hed)pe brings forth the inevitable Limp Bizkit comparisons, and LB fares _Badly_ in this light. With good solid rapping, great lyrics and some booty-bouncing, hip-hop/metal riffing, (hed)pe emerge as the better band in terms of musical talent and lyric writing.

The album rocks from beginning to end. "POS" and "Ground" lead smoothly into "Serpent Boy", which is explosive and features some awesome transitions from hyper-rapped verses to mega-rock-riff choruses. "Tired of Sleep" features a more laid back groove laid down over eerily haunting high pitched guitar licks.

Other excellent tracks are "Schpamb", "Ken 2012", "33" and "Hill". "IFO" has fast become one of my favorite, featuring some of the most awesome lyrics I have ever heard. It sounds like the X-Files episode written by the staff of High Times!

All in all, this band can hold it's own against any of the new metal bands out there, Rage Against the Machine included. Rage owns, but so does (hed)pe. I think the future for these guys is blindingly bright, and I would highly recommend this record to people out there with open minds who don't blindly cling to allegiance with one band.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great!
The first full-length album from 6-piece rap-metal band (hed) p.e. is a great effort. Though what they bring to the table is nothing new, what they do, they do very well. Frontman M.C.U.D. is a notch above all the other nu-metal frontman with his energy, slick rapping, vocals and lyrics that explore planetary evolution, religion, the paranormal, sex, and racism while still being quite amusing. Drummer B.C. is an excellent drummer that doesn't rely on the DJ to make all the beats for him (not on this album, anyway), while DJ product provides some cool scratches and samples throughout. Bassist Mawk makes some funky rhythms in back and guitarist duo Wessyle and Chizad provide the heaviness this album needs and work best together here. This CD contains elements of Hip-Hop, metal, punk, reggae, and even some tribal. If you're not completely sick of rap-metal then this is some good stuff that should keep you banging your head for a while. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Kottonmouth Kings on the rise.. without airplay!
What can be said about kMk? Daddy X has put together another great group, just like the Humble Gods. Except with kMk being much more talented lyrically and musically. DJ Bobby B puts an amazing sound to the music. "Royal Highness" is there first album, "High Society" is a great and I mean great follow up album. WIth tracks on "R.H." like "Bump", "Spies", "What's Your Trip".. tracks like that to keep you moving. .. And the hip-hop based "Play On". This album covers it all.. except country.. haha. The hidden track[s], "Pimp Twist" and the "Bump [Remix] are also great tracks. "Pimp Twist" being one of my favorite kMk songs ever. For a suggestion.. go out an buy "Hidden Stash". A kMk CD with old school and un-released tracks. Including one featuring the infamous Johnny Richter.. the original kMk member. But Saint.. I send much love, and we miss you in the crew! Peace out stoners.

5-0 out of 5 stars kottonmouth kings are off the hook!
in my opinion i strongly feel that the kottonmouth kings cd royal highness, is so tight. it's punk rock, rap, reggae, and funk all put together to make a pimped out album. if you haven't tasted kmk's flava, then go check there cd out today. i promises you'll want to be down with the kmk klick as soon as you here one song. and if you like this record, check out there new one, hidden stash. then get kmk's infamous dj bobby b's new cd, 99 rips beyond. also try out too rude self titled album. too rude who is featured on a few songs on the royal highness cd, tears it up with his reggae sounds. i think that kottonmouth kings are the greatest and i really think that you will too. just check it out, and see for yourself!

2-0 out of 5 stars Was I really that stoned back then?
Recently re-discovered this album in a dusty old box, and gave it a spin for the first time in about five years. At first I was excited to visit old times, as I had bought this when I was 14-15 or so, and absolutely loved it. I'm 20, and it's just ridiculous garbage to me now. These guys are friggin' dorks. How is this turd of an album getting a higher overall star rating than the likes of De La Soul's "Stakes is High," or Redman's "Whut? Thee Album"? Malarkey.

After all of that, why was I so generous as to grace it with two stars? Because some of the production on one or two of the songs is actually pretty nice, like on Planet Budtron, and maybe a couple of others. If you had some decent emcees who weren't a bunch of jackasses rhyming over the beats, it might be a halfway decent album.

I literally use it as a mirror now, and I'm really not joking about that. I cut it into a smaller disc, and put rubber around the edges for finger comfort. It's a good mirror. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Industrial Metal at its best
When i first got this cd i loved it probablly because i was going through with some stuff. Anyways this cd is dark, Twisted, & Angry.. but if u like bands like Korn, Spineshank, Slipknot, or Nine Inch Nails then you might like this cd. While you may find this cd dark & angry thats how most aggressive bands are nowadays.. when this cd first came out i think people werent ready for it yet because it plays along the lines of Slipknot & NIN.. Slipknot is one of those bands that sounds like they dont like anyone or anything, but Drown is more or less between Slipknot & NIN.. it has the elements of NIN with the angry side of Slipknot. Whether or not the lyrics have any meaning for you, this cd packs alot more then just the lyrics. Just the right tune of the guitar, heavy & low enough to produce alot of bass. Not only that the music adds enough techno/electronica to make it sound much heavier. I just hope and pray that 4 people come up with this idea for a great band. Other simaliar bands that i think kept that going are, Fear Factory, Spineshank, Dry Kill Logic (1st album), Professional Murder Music, Skinlab, Chimaira (1st album) ill Nino, Reveille as well as some of your fav bands that might continue this level of Metal.. some of them are heavier then others but just to let u know that this band was one of the best.

5-0 out of 5 stars I'll never get tired of listening to DROWN...
"Hold onto the Hollow" is DROWN's first release. I became a fan after hearing "Product of a Two-Faced World" which was released in 1998 and worked my way backwards to Hollow. "Product.." loses some of the electronics, and seems more hardcore, while "Hollow.." seems more raw and angry. DROWN sucked me up into the world of 1605, which started as a simple "rule" I guess you could say, on living life...DROWN has since broken up, but check out other projects by frontman LAUREN, such as FAMOUS, which opened on the Tattoo the Earth tour 2000, and his newest band SiX and their EP, "When the Beauty's Gone.."

5-0 out of 5 stars Take Jon Davis' growl and combine it with Videodrone's music
....And that is exactly what you would get.

Although more abrasive than both bands, you can still get the idea of what they are like. Definetly pissed about something (who isn't?) Everyone who wrote reviews for this cd are correct : this is a GREAT cd to listen to when you are mega pissed. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Rapcore the way it should be done
This is an excellent band that unfortunately never became very popular and now I think is broken up. They offer an excellently performed mix of metal, hardcore and a little rap. There isnt as much of that on this one tho as there is on Candy, Toy Guns & Television, their next cd. This one is mostly hardcore, and well done at that. My favorite tracks are "Give In" and "Downtime" because of the melodies and weird effects they are able to pull off within the framework of somewhat simple verses and one or two-word choruses. Anyway, if you're into hardcore and have an open mind (which you probably do anyway if you listen to hardcore) then check this cd out.

4-0 out of 5 stars 20 Dead rock!!
I've been listening to these guys for well over 5 years now (has it REALLY been that long??!!) being that I'm from their hometown. These guys are gonna be big soon. They relocated to advance their career. Their second album is even better than this one, but I don't think its available nationwide. If you're into any underground scene, check these guys out. If you're into the now called "rapcore" definately check these guys out. They totally have their own sound, and don't try to copy everyone else like some other "hot dog water" group out there.

5-0 out of 5 stars True Emotion Containded in True Music
This album is the answer to our prayers. This is REAL music mad from REAL emotions. This isn't your "Do it to piss you off" or "do it to get $$" kinda music this is true from the heart music. You can feel it in every song. I've ben a fan of 20 Dead for about 2 years now and I don't think that any of their new stuff can compare to this album, it's just pure raw emotion and it's truely HEAVY (Not that their old stuff was bad, it rocks hard too. IF you like REAL music that shows REAL emotion and keep it REAL havy then you MUST buy this album. I know you don't know who they are BUT TRUST ME I'm sure you've spent more that ( ) on something that was FAR WORSE! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars All for the...RINGMASTER
Ok I have to admit that when I first bought this I was dissapointed. I thought it had no good lyrics or beats. I must have had my head up my arse coz this CD really kicks it! Now I listen to it the most aside from Riddlebox! It's old skool ICP and has a good dose of wicked shxt! My favourite song is 'The Loons" and also 'Bugs on my nutz"...a must buy! (Though I will say I don't like the original Chicken Huntin', the new one is a lot better). MCL JUGGALOS

4-0 out of 5 stars ICP at their best
In my opinion,This is ICP's best CD they have ever made. This has their old skool style that you can't hear on "Great Milenko" or "The Amazing Jeckel Bros."...This has ICP classics on it such as "Murder Go Round","Chicken Huntin'",Mr.Johnson's Head",,"Bugz On My Nugz",and "Wagon,Wagon".They were raw as hell on this album,This CD has funny stuff, scary stuff, weird stuff, everything you know and love about ICP is on here. This is a classic ICP CD and I recommend any ICP fan get this.

Editorial Review

The roughest of punks would often claim that though Orange County's Huntingdon Beach was a major center for hardcore, it never produced a genuinely heavy outfit. That was until the emergence of the Deadlights (originally known as Suction), a band of metallic power and fervor with a street-schooled and positivist message. Having taken their name from a Stephen King story (the deadlights are what one sees at the point of death), you'd expect the band, like so many of their peers, to concern themselves with conspiracy theories, and blood. In fact, singer Duke proves himself sensitive and knowledgeable when dealing with death, drugs, religion, love and sadomasochism; indeed, he's actually rather like King at his most thoughtful and restrained. Musically, The Deadlights delivers tempestuous rock made all the more disorientating by sampled shrieks and machine crashes and squeals, while Duke slips from a guttural roar to surprisingly sweet pop trill. --Dominic Wills ... 3-0 out of 5 stars Good, but nothing new
I heard this band before when they were called Suction and I thought they were pretty cool. This cd however is kind of a disappointment. In most regards it's pretty heavy, more hard rock music rather than groovecore and the vocals are all right ranging from a kind of nasal, feminine voice during the slow parts and then the typical screaming and hardcore singing during the chorus. There aren't any really standout tracks though I do like "Junk" and "Foolish Pride". Overall the band doesn't do anything I haven't heard before and if I would have to describe them I'd say they are like Our Lady Peace or Smashing Pumpkins with a little Coal Chamber mixed in with it (very little). So if you're into that kind of music then check them out and check out Finger Eleven.

5-0 out of 5 stars Heavy Aggressive Talented Nu Metal
This band truly rocks!! I heard about them last spring when I found out they were gonna be doing ozzfest. I picked up the cd. I thought it was pretty good. Not my favorite but pretty heavy stuff. Lately I've been listening to this cd a lot more and it has grown on me so much!. I absolutely love this cd. They have so much talent! My favorite songs are junk, foolish pride, pox eclipse, distant sun, time and falling down. There are some truly great songs on this cd. Go pick but The deadlights cd! Some other great bands to check out are: Staind,Ultraspank,Spineshank,Glassjaw,Taproot and Factory 81

4-0 out of 5 stars weird but good
the creepy effects, growling high pitched vox, and crunchy guitars are rampant on this album.duke can really howl.guitar work is more intricate than can be expected on a typical metal album and the las two tracks "time" and "falling down" are two of the best mellow album enders ever.definitely grab this one.for fans of v shape mind, reveille, tool. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Great cd
Too Rude is a great cd. Too Rude is a long time friend of the Kottonmouth Kings and he apears on both of their cds. Too Rude (for my own good) is one of the best songs on here along with New Sheriff, Burn Kali, and Gun Shot. If you like a regea beat then you should like Too Rude.

5-0 out of 5 stars No more SubNoize for Too Rude?
I love this album. Gun Shot, Not Today, and Burn Kali are the best tracks on here. Not Today is really pretty catchy and all this music is just for maxin' and relaxin on a beach somewhere. Some reggea-ska-surf music, with a little punk equals feelgood music where ever you go. If you liked Dog's Life off the first Kottonmouth Kings cd, or On the Run on Hidden Stash 2, get this cd-it is the same type of music. Too bad Too Rude is not on SubNoize records anymore. Re-Invention is still supposed to come out on Vans records, so watch out for that stuff. Peace.

2-0 out of 5 stars dont buy this
i have this cd, i listened to it several times through, and came to the conclution that it was a waste of money. It sounds to me that the singer is trying to be someone else. he talks about being arested, smoking weed and things of this fashion so much and so un poeticly that it just sounds like an image push. The music arangements are good, but leave you wanting to tell the band that their not the wailers, and the singer should stop trying to sound like bob marley. Bottom line, take it if someone wants to give it to you,but dont spend money on it. learn from my mistake ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars A must get cd.
I was just looking threw some cds at a music store and saw their disk picked up and sampled loved it the first time I heard a little bite of it. If you like 311 then you would probally like these guys and also Kottenmouth Kings. Dial 7 plays hard at times and can really funck it up, and some hip hop lyrcs too it. If you don't have this cd I would go and get it now.

5-0 out of 5 stars the reason i live
man this cd is just incredible, ive been listening to this for 2 years now and i still love it.no matter how many bands you can compare them to they still have a sound that only they could pull off-and they definately pull it off with authority and style-which is more than i can say for at least 75% of music out there.i mean these guys are so good that i have a hard time believing that they still havent hit the mainstream but i dont know if the public is ready.id would compare them to 311 but i dont think 311 has anything on dial-7.....just go get it! and go to their website and order their other cd as well! dialse7en-later

5-0 out of 5 stars Just amazing.
This is another great CD by a no-name band. I wish their second CD were more readily available. I saw these guys live and picked up the CD at the show, it's great. Songs like "133," "Faster," "All I Want," and "Money + Fame." are IMO the best. If you want to know what they sound like, think Linkin Park meets Sublime. Very good, worth a listen if not a buy. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Stands out in a Crowd
While I do have reservations about giving out 5's, after listening to Playmate of the Year six times in a row and loving every time it went back to "I am", I realized Zebrahead has something special going on here. I'd give it a 4.5. A fan since Waste of Mind rocked my world, not only does ZH put on an amazing live show (especially when they steal the show from a headlining act like they did in DC) and put that into their studio work, but have a great deal of musical talent in a variety of diverse ways: from the hiphop-cum-pop-punk feel of Ali and Justin's dual vocals to the powerful and playful beats to the raging rhythm chords and surf-punk lead guitar riffs, Zebrahead is the most unique and exciting band out there (can we even put them in a genre?), and they mix it up on every song on P.O.T.Y. From the driving and danceable songs bookending the album to the soulful and powerfully socially-conscious "What's goin' on?" to the latin-inspired "Livin Libido Loco" Zebrahead has a formula for playing great songs and having fun that translates to a veritable musical journey. While P.O.T.Y. does betray a bit of the hi-fi polish that comes with big-label production, ZH maintains the passion and drive of their shows. With the thousands of generic pop-punk-emo, boy-band, and alt-rock songs out there in the post Third Wave era, ZH's second major US LP is an upbeat gem, shying away from the trend of complaining and being sad all the time. Hey,I'm now listening to it for the eighth time straight, so there you go! Hook up this album and you won't have to buy another CD for a while. Even though I only give 5's to albums like Bob's "Legend", Zepp's "4", or "Survival of the Fattest", "Playmate of the Year" is pretty close.

5-0 out of 5 stars You can't live without this CD...
This, by far, is my fave CD. If you've ever wanted to listen to something that nobody else is, check out Zebrahead. They aren't THAT well known, but they should be. Because, I have to say they are much more impressive than some of the other music that's deamed 'popular'. The CD fuses a few different types, but mainly keeps to the pop-punk theme. If you're a fan of pop-punk, you'd love this CD. This is a CD that you'll say, "That's pretty cool." If you aren't ready for a new experience of listening... Don't buy this CD. You are defintly in for an adventure the first time. I was! The CD has a combonation of very good songs, like 'I Am, Playmate of The Year, (This if my fave) Now or Never' and alot more! This CD is one that you may never put down. That is, until you get thier follow up album, MFZB, which is just as good, if better, than this one. This is one of the best albums I've ever bought, and alot of people feel the same about Zebrahead!!

4-0 out of 5 stars Awesome CD
This CD starts out awesome. "I am"....an awesome catchy song. "Playmate of the Year"...a catchy song that is awesome. "Now or Never"....has to be my second favorite...nice track to put at this part of the CD. "Wasted"...nice lyrics. "I'm money"....i love this song...it's so awesome. "Go"...not my favorite...and the beginning of the song isn't that great, but it gets better around the chorus. "What's goin' on?"....my favorite song on this CD...the lyrics are awesome and for a slower song it's pretty rad. "Subtract You"....fits well where placed on this CD....awesome song and lyrics. "Hell that is my life"....i like the lyrics and the guitar in this song...and it's very catchy. "E Generation"....weird...way different from the rest of the stuff on this CD...but still awesome..and the lyrics are nice. "Livin Libido Loco"...they could have left this song off the CD...this song is what makes me rate it a 4 instead of a 5. "In My Room"...awesome lyrics...chorus is awesome....perfect song for ending the CD. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Good times with Rap-Rock
Injected is an album that you can't take seriously, and that's a good thing. My personal favorite is 'Me 'n Yer Girl.' I roll around laughing every time I hear the song. It reminds of my frat boy college antics. The rest of the tracks continue with the all out house party theme. Although the Phunk Junkeez don't get as much air time as the 90s Rap-Rock bands as 311 or Rage Against the Machine, the Junkeez are just as polished and talented. If you like this style of music, you will like this album.

They don't write songs that they think will sell, because then they would have wrote something like "Rollin'", but no, these guys write songs that mean something to them. Instead of just writing a song to please the public, they write songs to tell everyone exactly what they think. It doesn't hurt that they bring up some really, really, good points in their songs also. If you don't own this CD already, then buy Taxes Are Stealing AND The New Testament....and be sure to pick up a copy of their new CD hitting shelves July 4th called Freedom is a State of Mind. BUY THEM NOW!

5-0 out of 5 stars Talented political band who needs to be recognized
First off, if your expecting Corporate Avenger to sound like their Kottonmouth King buddies, you are in a world full of wrong. Corporate Avenger sings more about politcal issues. They seem like the only band who tells it like it is, and has the balls to do so. When it comes to christianity, listen to 20 Dollar Bill and see what I mean. Also unlike their label mates, they are more punk and techno then rap and rock. Which I think is really creative. I think you will be hearing more from these guys. With their outstanding and truthful message. Also, expect punk/techno to become the next big thing. If you like the band go out and get The New Testament immediatly.

5-0 out of 5 stars Gotta Be One Of Tha Best
Man, buyin' this CD has to be one of the smartest things I have ever done. In tha first place I figured this would be kinda like Kottonmouth Kings or (hed) p.e., I was wrong. The music isn't great, but that doesn't matter. the whole thing is just all political views that make sense, on stuff like pot, evolution, Christianity, and war. It is chock full of great lines like this one in $20 Bill (andrew jackson song) that says "when did love thy brother (or neighbor, i forget) become murder the children?" it is not rap or anything, but it is like high fast paced elctronic music with spoken vocals and power chords. the first review of this pretty much explains the whole thing well. every track is great, and this is an awesome CD. check suburban noize for more on the avenger. ... The top tracks on this album are the Hip Hop / R&B influenced UP ON THE HILL and LOVE UNLIMITED, and the heavy metal SOUTHSIDE and ALL FOR SELF. These tracks and about 5 others are the best stuff I have heard in years from anybody. They are refreshing, well produced and original while at the same time paying homage to past artists like Barry White. I just wish the group's desire for eclecticism would have prevented the country & western influenced songs from making this otherwise outstanding record as they are grossly out of place. If not for that, this record would easily be 5 star material.

5-0 out of 5 stars An outstanding fusion of various styles of music.
this is one of the finest albums available it lacks the raw pasion of the first album but makes up for this because it has been excellently produced. all of the tracks are suberb especially 'Korean bodega' and 'big night out' the only thing better than this album is seeing the band live which i highly recomend. no cd collection is complete without this cd.

4-0 out of 5 stars Pretty sophisticated stuff
I'm the only one in my crowd who loves this group, but I LOVE them. This is sophisticated, urban and whimsical ... given the hard, unforgiving edges of street life. But that's the charm of the music ... and it really is skillfully crafted, soulfull music! ... Read more
