5-0 out of 5 stars Should Show and Tell to everyone, everywhere
Although Silvertide is a new band, and nothing substitutes for experience, this band is truely amazing, as is this CD. This CD brings back the old kick-ass style of Rock and Roll from the 80's. None of this goth, death metal that has taken over the Rock community. Silvertide is all about having a great time and it shows through their music. My personal favorite part of this band is their guitarist. I don't remember his name, but he is phenominal. His solos remind me of the good old days with Slash and Eddie Van Halen, but with a great new style.

This CD will go down as one of the greats. Just like, Appetite for Destruction, Back in Black, and Led Zeppelin IV, this CD should be, wait, will be, owned by every rock fan in the world. It's great guitar riffs, amazing vocalist, and rock on attitude will inspire millions.

Every track is great and deserves to be on this CD.

    1) AINT COMIN HOME- the perfect opening song to get to know this new band. It starts out with a basic percussion beat, and slowly adds the other instruments plus vocals to create that perfect party on feeling. About 75% done with the song, all the instruments stop and just the vocalist screams out orgasmic noises to bring in the magnificent guitar solo.

    2) DEVIL'S DAUGHTER- An interesting guitar solo that quickly grows on you. This song is all bringing up to the choruses as the climax. There is a great little part of the song right before the the chorus that I can't stop singing.

    3) SFC (So F*****g Crazy)- This song is simply kick-ass rock and roll. A great beat and nice distortion techniques enable this song to be a great one.

    4) CALIFORNIA RAIN- This will be the second single of the album and it is just as good as the others. There is a great guitar lick behind the verses that helps the song rock. Also, the accompanying of other voices behind the main singer's is awesome.

    5) BLUE JEANS- The song starts out with a fast worded soft verse that, like the rest of the song, focuses around sex. Then the guitar comes in and blows you away. Another amazing song.

    6) MARY JANE- Definitely the hardest song on the album, MARY JANE definitely hits all the spots. The screaming/yelling of the vocalist really portrays his feelings and the back up vocals dont make it any worse. As with every other song, the guitar is unbelievable.

    7) HEARTSTRONG- This is the first real slow ballad of off the album and has lots of emotion behind it. It is one of my favorites. You feel like you actually had the experience being sung about.

    8) TO SEE WHERE I HIDE- This is my least favorite song on the CD, but it still is great. There is nothing much to say that hasnt been said about the other songs, so I'll leave it at that.

    9) YOU WANT IT ALL- More sexual innuendo is featured in this song, and that just adds to the effect. "She wants more and more and more and more," are lyrics frequenting this song.

    10) NOTHING STAYS- The second ballad on this album. This is a very relaxing and soothing song. There are also excellent lyrics to accompany the musicianship.

    11) FOXHOLE J.C. (Jesus Christ)- This is by far my favorite track on the album. It is very original and has such a good message to it. It starts out with in your face rock and slowly transitions to a slow, piano accompanied, ending. The entire band chants "war, war, what is it for." It is truely inspirational.

If You are still reading, it means you are interested. So what are you doing, go out and buy this fanastic CD! ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Rock'n roll baby!
Mouthful of love is a great up tempo rock'n roll record. It's like Meat Loaf meets AC/DC. The male and female vocals are great and the guitar riffs sounds like AC/DC. The 80's are back!
Get the record: you will not be disappointed!

5-0 out of 5 stars Shake Your Money Maker
Like a lot of cool bands now, such as The Secret Machines, this band is from Texas. I caught this band live last year as an opener for Electric Six. They were actually nothing like that. They had more in common with The Darkness and The Datsuns. That means they are more into AC/DC that one would expect. The song "Mouthful of Love" is a full on burst of pure rock and roll. They have some relationship with that other band from Austin, Trail of Dead. They sound like many rock and roll bands except that they have two vocalists, male and female, Chris Hodge and Jennifer Stephens. "Starlite" starts out with the sound of The Who. The songs of Young Heart Attack are about having fun, pleasure, and taking life to the edge. This is about having a good time. Listening to this loud embraces the sonic power of rock.

4-0 out of 5 stars Misty Rowe would be proud and shakin' her Daisys!
If a high-energy movie comedy about high school/college stoners was being made (think a modern-day "Dazed and Confused", "Animal House", etc.), this band would be the first I'd pick and NOT any emo or faux punk stuff--at first listen these songs made me feel young again, like I was listening to Cheap Trick back in high school when "In Color" first hit the streets--the dual high-pitched (but semi-sweet, nasty and clear as Hell's bells) male/female vocals are a treat, the keyboards are just right and the guitarist is a MADMAN! My only suggestion for the next album is that the songs' structures could be tightened up a bit (probably by a more experienced producer), but for this, their 1st album, at least half the songs are bona-fide keepers and when is the last time you've said THAT about a record? ... 4-0 out of 5 stars + 1/2 stars...Ranks Among the Band's Best Albums
While this is not a blues album in the traditional sense (like Clapton's ME AND MR JOHNSON, which was released the same day), HONKIN' ON BOBO is Aerosmith's hardest rockin' album since such mid-Seventies' classics as TOYS IN THE ATTIC and ROCKS.

The album kicks off with the Bo Diddley classic "Roadrunner" and doesn't look back. The heavy riffs, snarling guitars and larger-than-life vocals grab the listener and don't let go for the next 44 minutes. Of the more familiar covers, Aerosmith turn in a rendition of "Baby, Please Don't Go" that rivals Them's British top 10 version of Joe Williams' "Baby, Please Don't Go." And as they tear through a rousing version of Mississippi Fred McDowells' "You Gotta Move," you're left puzzled that this is the same song the Stones covered on STICKY FINGERS.

Things slow down a bit on the cover of Aretha Franklin's "Never Loved a Girl" and the Joe Perry vocal on "Back Back Train" (Perry also does lead vocals on the Peter Green original "Stop Messin' Around," an obscure song from Fleetwood Mac's second album from 1968). The album closer is the traditional "Jesus Is on the Main Line." Throughout, there is plenty of harmonica, Dobro and slide guitar, and Chuck Berry sideman Johnnie Johnson shows up on piano for a couple songs ("Shame, Shame, Shame" and "Temperature") to remind listeners that this is, after all, a blues album--at least Aerosmith's version of the blues. And you know what? It works. It's one of the strongest albums of their career. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

5-0 out of 5 stars The Blues, Aerosmith Style !!!
Great album, a must have for any rock n' roll music fan. Definitely a must buy for the true AEROSMITH FAN!!! Aerosmith outdid themselves with this tribute to the blues masters who inspired them.

The first track, ROAD RUNNER, is the perfect opener for this album because is sets the pace for the rest. BABY PLEASE DON'T GO (my favorite) and I'M READY offer great guitar riffs and are truly reminiscent of the old days of AEROSMITH. SHAME, SHAME, SHAME, YOU GOTTA MOVE and STOP MESSIN' AROUND will surely get you off your seat and dancing. NEVER LOVED A GIRL and THE GRIND (an original AEROSMITH tune) are slower and are great, just what you need to catch your breath. TEMPERATURE and EYESIGHT TO THE BLIND are great bluesy songs that Steven Tyler has made his own. The gospelish JESUS IS ON THE MAIN LINE is a catchy toe-tapping tune. Hearing Joe Perry's voice is always a plus for the ladies (including myself), and the very sultry BACK BACK TRAIN, as well as STOP MESSIN' AROUND are nice treats to tantalize the imagination.

Hats off to Steven, Joe, Tom, Joey and Brad. Fantastic job done, guys!

4-0 out of 5 stars L.A. Guns stay true to the original versions
    What's good about it?

L.A. Guns pay homage to a wide range of rock artists. There are the legends; Aerosmith's funk, blues laden "Nobody's Fault," Queen's catchy "Tie Your Mother Down," David Bowie's strangely worded "Moonage Daydream" (must have been during his Ziggy Stardust faze), and Led Zeppelin's "Custard Pie" (every guy's favorite pastry). There are the second tier legends; Saxon's hooky, leather spiked arm band and belt emoting "Wheels of Steel," Foghat's "I Just Want to Make Love to You" (might I add that L.A. Guns makes Foghat worth listening to), and Donovan's "Hurdy Gurdy Man" (just as trippy as the original, but with added acoustic guitars that give more emotional depth).

There are the glam/punk legends; Iggy Pop and the Stooges' "Search and Destroy," and Hanoi Rocks' "Until I Get You" (whose inclusion doesn't surprise me, because every L.A. glam band from the eighties cites them as an influence). And finally, the obscure cult legends, Angel City's "Marseilles"(it has that whole Hanoi vibe going on), and Rose Tattoo's rock anthem "Rock and Roll Outlaw." As a special treat, L.A. Guns throw in two original live tracks, "Revolution" and "Don't Look at Me That Way."

    Anything bad?

Who hasn't covered "Tie Your Mother Down"?!

    Bottom Line

L.A. Guns stay true to the original versions, but still manage to put their signature on them. It's bizarre, but in recent years L.A. Guns sound much better than they did back in the day (vocally and musically).

4-0 out of 5 stars Unstoppable
It seems that LA Guns will never die. And that is awesome news for Rock 'n' Roll fans. In various incarnations, they have continued to create great rock music, even when mainstream radio does not want any thing to do with them.
This is a CD full of covers, some instantly recognizable, some deeper cuts. All of them very good. There are even two live tracks with Keri Kelli and Brent Muscat handling the guitar work. The recording quality of the two live cuts is the only thing keeping this CD from getting 5 stars from me.
The songs are great, Phil's voice is still great. The only thing missing? Tracii Guns. He is busy with the Brides of Destruction. Stacey Blades does an admirable job, but it just does not seem right without Tracii.

5-0 out of 5 stars Blackie Lawless in a genius
In listening to this new record, it really hits me: Blackie Lawless must be the single most underrated artist alive.
I have always been a WASP fan and I have enjoyed a musical journey with them starting from the times of the more fun recklessness of 'WASP' and 'The Last Command' to the more serious and thought provoking 'Headless' and 'The Crimson Idol'.
Whether you are a WASP fan or have never listened to them before, if you are looking for an album that will become an instant classic in your collection you must buy this release.

'The Neon God' will take you on a journey through the life of Jesse Slane, a boy who since very early on is exposed to the more cruel realities of life. He loses his father at age 6 and his mother, who becomes a drug addict, doesn't want to deal with him so she gives him up to a religious orphanage where he is abused and mistreated for years.
After he manages to escape he goes out into the world trying to find meaning to his life. Along the way he will become in touch with good influences and with not so good ones, which will in the end determine which path he chooses in life...

Blackie Lawless is a master storyteller and you will find yourself feeling for this character as if he was a real life person. The sounds of the record vary from explosive relentless hard rock, to gut wrenching ballads that will stop you dead on your track. Not a bad song in this album. The lyrics are well written and thought provoking (I was speechless at another reviewers comment that the lyrics in this album make no sense), and are masterfully matched to the story and tempo of each song.

Overall this album is a masterpiece. A collection of songs and sounds that will rock your bones but that will unequivocally stimulate you intellect as well. You must not miss it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Blackie Unleashes an Awesome Effort
After much hype and changes in release dates, The Neon God - Part I - The Rising has arrived aand after only (3) turns I feel strongly that this may be Blackie's strongest effort yet. Although Crimson Idol was an extremely good concept album, I feel strongly that T-N-G is an even better effort primarily because it maintains the classic WASP sound yet adds layered/textured sounds that blend into many of it's songs. My personal favorites are certainly Asylum #9, The Red Room of the Rising Sun, and The Raging Storm. However, each time I spin the CD my favorite list changes.

The solid song writing, strong production, textured/layered sounds, strong performance, and interesting story add up to what I feel is an awesome effort.

I am now eager to see if Part II continues with the same strengths and what could very well be one of the finest concept CDs of all time.

    We'll see.

5-0 out of 5 stars STILL GREAT
Blackie Lawless never disappoints. I loved this one as much as I loved the first album when I was 12. I'm glad to see WASP is still dark. This cd was musically flawless. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Oh My God!
Let's keep this short and to the point... this is the most amazing cd I've bought in years! I'm dead serious... I was a sort of casul Tesla fan back in the 90s and when I saw that they had a new CD out on amazon I thought i'd check it out knowing that Tesla always produces good quality stuff. Well good quality isn't the word... amazing is. There is not a bad song on it, it's heavy and in your face, very catchy, the music is terrific and it rocks your world! Well until track 12... then it brings you down and puts you in a surreal soft place with one of the most beautiful rock ballads I have ever heard.

An easy 5/5. Thanks for the great album Tesla!

5-0 out of 5 stars A Great Band Returns
Tesla is back together and they never sounded so good! A very impressive return for one of the most under-rated bands in the last 20 years. "Into the now" brings back the original 5 and it's like they never left. Tesla has always written great songs and the streak continues here.
    The rundown:
    1. Into the Now: 4/5 great rockin start to the album
    2. Look @ Me: 3/5 Allright, but when you here whats to come, you may never return to #2
    3. What a Shame: 4/5 Great song.
    4. Heaven Nine Eleven: 5/5 Wow, a great tribute to a horrific day in America
    5. Words can't explain: 5/5 Just a great song, period.
    6. Caught in a Dream: Classic Tesla!
    7. Miles Away: 4/5 a good rocker, but a pretty long song
    8. Mighty Mouse: 5/5 This could have easily been on "Bust A Nut: a VERY UNDERATED ALBUM!!!
    9. Got No Glory: 5/5 A heavy punch in the face!
(Just a note: This albums production is amazing!)
    10. Come To Me: 5+/5 Great acoustics shine in this song. Great Chorus. So far this is my favorite song on the album
    11. Recognize: 5/5 A great final rocker ( you know they're gonna end with a slow song) Just another great song
    12. Only You: 4/5 Not bad, just after all the other songs it just not as great. This song is probably gonna be better over time and multiple listens

Over all, from the songs, to the production, to the heavier fresher sound, to Sanctuary Records (thanx for signing some great bands), to having one of the best bands back on the scene this is definately an album to pick up. And if you've never scene Tesla live, do yourself a favor and see 'em. One of the greatest live bands around.
    Great Job Tesla, 5 stars.

5-0 out of 5 stars Perhaps the Best Rock Band Ever
I got this new Tesla album, and it finally hit me that Tesla perhaps could be one of the best hard rock bands ever, they easily are in the same level as Led Zepplin and the rest, and this album proves it. EVERY single song here is good, you don't have to skip over anything. THIS is what REAL hard rock should sound like. Thank You Tesla, for giving us such quality music. This album is worth every penny. Also, if you want to hear another great, unbeleivable album with a hard rock vibe, check out FireHouse's new album- "PrimeTime". Good Job Tesla! ... Read more

    Editorial Review

It's one of L.A. rock's dirty little secrets: The big-haired, neo-glam '80s metal revival that culminated in Guns N' Roses briefly taking over the world was also--with apologies to the "Silverlake scene"--arguably the city's last truly thriving grassroots club movement. This collection of demos by early Hollywood metal scene fixture Hollywood Rose revolves around the presence of two ambitious, recently transplanted Hoosiers--guitarist Jeff Isabelle and vocalist William Bailey, soon to be better known as GNR's Izzy Stradlin and Axl Rose, respectively. Fans of the star-crossed metal superstars will welcome a raw early version of Appetite for Destruction's "Anything Goes," a chance to hear Axl's distinctive shriek in mid-evolution, and Izzy's churning, bluesy riffing, even if HR's energized punk-metal merely toys with the decadence and insanity that would eventually swallow GNR whole. Original GNR manager Vicki Hamilton offers up some personal insights, too. But there's also a downside: The disc only contains five 16-track demos, padded out by lovably executed, if largely disposable, remixes by latter-day Gunner Gilbey Clarke and Cinderella's Fred Coury, featuring a few new overdubs by fellow Hollywood glam-metal fixture Tracii Guns. --Jerry McCulley ...
