5-0 out of 5 stars Page Turner Detective Story in the 17th Century
Anne Somerset has written a comprehensive non-fiction account of the Overbury scandal that reads as if it were fictional narrative. The sources are exhaustive but not oppressive, so that this murder mystery turns out to be one of the best historical "whodunits" I have read. The plot is of the ages: the Countess of Somerset is young and beautiful; the Earl of Somerset is rich and powerful. In the Fall of 1615 the Countess and the Earl of Somerset were arrested on sucpicion of having murdered Sir Thomas Overbury. Does the passion, lust and greed
that lead up to their arrest turn the plot? This has it all. ... Read more

The Bell Jar

Editorial Review

Plath was an excellent poet but is known to many for this largely autobiographical novel. The Bell Jar tells the story of a gifted young woman's mental breakdown beginning during a summer internship as a junior editor at a magazine in New York City in the early 1950s. The real Plath committed suicide in 1963 and left behind this scathingly sad, honest and perfectly-written book, which remains one of the best-told tales of a woman's descent into insanity. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars The Bell Jar
This is one of my all time favorite novels. There's just something about it, that even if you're not feeling depressed you could relate to it. Even though it was written so long ago I can still relate to some of the things she says in the novel. I borrowed this book from the library but I'm planning to buy it soon because it's something I would enjoy reading again once in awhile. I definitely recommend it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Bell Jar
Reading the Bell Jar I got pulled into Esters world. Sylvia Plath pulls you into the world of a young woman and her slip into depression. In the first couple pages she speaks about seeing a cadaver for the first time, and that is just enough totweek your intrest. The way she speaks about some things can make you either bond with her or think she is compleatly insane. When I read this book i couldnt put it down and once i finished it stayed in my brain for days. This is possibly one of my favorite books that I've read in a long time and would highly recommend reading it.

4-0 out of 5 stars Review of Bell Jar
I personally think that it is an okay book if a reader wants to read about how womans were like in 1950s and about mental diseases. It was interesting story about Esther trying to be healthy(in mental means) again after attempts to suiside. This gives readers, especially people who have depression, hope to readers that `This is not the end, so don't give away your life so easily.'

Also the title of "Bell Jar" which is compared to Esthers mind that was closed and not letting the hope to come in and keeping the despair among herself.

Eventhought you think that you will not have any mental diseases like depression, after you read the book, you wouldn't feel safe that a person like Esther was also having depression that she tries to end her life. This is a story of a person's life over one's life. I would recommend others to read it since there was no book like this in the world.

Lawnware 363 Pink Flamingo Lawn Figures (2)
Average Customer Review: 4.5 out of 5 stars
Lawn & Patio
list price: $16.99
US | Canada | United Kingdom | Germany | France

Editorial Review

There are those of us (and we know who we are) who need pink flamingos on our lawns the way salmon need to swim upstream and morning glory thirsts for sun. For the flamingo lovers of the world, a pair is certainly better than one. These graceful and glaringly pink flamingos are fashioned out of durable plastic, with feathery patterns on the body, black hooked beaks, and soulful black eyes. They can be planted anywhere you like with sturdy yet slender steel posts, adding a subtropical flavor to your surroundings--no matter how much snow or how little rain actually falls on your lawn. You may not have the proper swamplike aura to attract a live flamingo flock, but at least you can simulate the flamingo look with these plastic counterparts, without the otherwise requisite humidity and mosquitoes. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Let Flamingos Migrate In Your Yard!
Over the past couple of years I've had differnt lawn flamingos in my yard. The Don Featherstones were hurled away in a tornado, the Artline's shattered in a hail storm, and those cheap little Whirl-A-Gig ones can't be seen without a magnifying glass. The Lawnware Flamingos have held up to 5ft of snow,2 hailstorms, and 3 tornadoes. They will last along time and will look great for decades. That is why I give them a 5!!

4-0 out of 5 stars The classic--what else can I say?
For some reason pink lawn flamingos are synonymous with bad taste and what became known as "kitsch," such as glass coffee tables held up by vinyl, rubberized, swimming dolphins, like I saw once. In the old days you just knew that anyone who put them on their lawn was NQOS, "Not quite our sort," and no-one ever invited these people to neighborhood block parties or let their kids play with their kids. How such a graceful bird became associated with the ultimate in tacky I don't know, but there it is. So for those iconoclasts out there still dying the show the world you have no couth or taste Lawnware still makes these lawn flamingos. They also work for discouraging burglars from breaking into your house and stealing your wide-screen TV and other things, because they'll assume you're too clueless to have anything of value, especially if you also have a couple of old cars on your front lawn missing a wheel or two. Works for me, anyway.

5-0 out of 5 stars Funny Flamingoes
I really like flamingoes. They're funny birds. For some reason, I was really excited when I saw that I could get a set of my very own pink flamingoes. They're very durable and cute too! When people say they fall apart, all they mean is that the legs slide off the body piece. It's really not a problem and easy to fix. My flamingoes are residents in my hallway, butwoul dlook great outside. They are a great buy and I'm glad I got themIf they look remotely interesting to you, I'd suggest that you buy them. They are an enjoyment! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Listen Once, and You're Hooked.
The first song I heard from this polemic-based, feminist electro-punk trio was "Deceptacon." My initial reaction: "what the f--- is this?"

Surprisingly enough, I played that song day in and day out after my first listen, and EACH time it got more addictive. After listening to my second Le Tigre song, "Eau d'Bedroom Dancing," I knew this band was excellent and too good to pass up.

Every song on this album is a gem. Purely original and zealous in every way, shape, and form, Kathleen, Johanna, and JD make a record everybody on the planet should own.

Politics and pop-punk feminist music? You're probably get the impression they are man-hating, jaded women. In reality, they are energetic, fun-loving, activists with a lot of important things to say and stand for female gay/bi/lesbian/trans causes with innovative music.

Le Tigre is a hope for music made by women. They are nothing like current chart-dominating, cliche, and bland groups like Destiny's Child.

This is a MUST-BUY. What are you waiting for?!

5-0 out of 5 stars It made me dance like a muthatrucka!
Dewd this CD is so freakin' fun to listen to.
Recommended for people into le Punk Rock Aerobics. It made me move, sweat and smile. If you like Poison the Well, listen to this album...hey..variety is the spice of life! (ok, poison the well has nothing to do with Le Tigre)You wanna delete this review, dontcha? Okay, I dare ya. No seriously don't waste your time on a Pina Colada, buy this album *plays Japanese commercial tune to get kids to buy stuff*

5-0 out of 5 stars Now Music for Pop Guys
Yes, all but the most Hemi-headed will find something to bop to and maybe, just maybe, stick around long enough to "listen."Smart, funny, tough, kick-ass power-punk-pop where the B-52s meet the Clash and take Sandra Bernhard for a ride.Julie Ruin began this?Hey kids, get some HISTORY!But sure, it's the new thing, the now thing, the grrrl thing and it rocks. My 5yr-old says, "My five favorite bands are the Beatles, the Pretenders, Ella Jenkins, Dan Zanes, and Le Tigre. And my own band, the Maruumba Band."What a recommendation! My wife says he gets to listen to it until he figures out the adjective they use to describe Rudy Giuliani, and I don't mean "jerk.""But they're right, aren't they?" I counter, but she's a protective soul.I say, start your boyz out right and they grow up to be HUMAN BEINGS.And they get to have some fun while doing it.So give this album to your sons!Your boyfriends!Your dads!Your Uncle Charleys! ... Editorial Review

Originally a Hanna-Barbera superhero designed by comic artist Alex Toth in the 1960s, Space Ghost was revived by the Cartoon Network as a surreal, self-involved talk-show host in 1994. Given free rein to show off his previously hidden talents as a song-and-dance man, Space Ghost (voiced by George Lowe) soared and was rewarded with a musical variety show, Cartoon Planet. Musical Bar-B-Que is the second collection spawned by Cartoon Planet, and it contains much of the out-of-print Modern Music for Swinging Super Heroes. A heaping chunk of inspired wackiness from Space Ghost and two of his enemies (the dimwitted Brak and the lovably gruff Zorak), Musical Bar-B-Que makes even The Simpsons seem tame. --Randy Silver ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Crazy Lovesick Fool.
This is really a fun CD if you have a goofy sense of humor, and enjoy singing out loud to really stupid lyrics.I LOVE THIS CD.I have played it in my car very loudly and convulsed. My two year old niece and I bonded over De Der Down, when I taught it to her.Now I am going to infect my own child with this insidiousness.LOVE IT!

5-0 out of 5 stars Sweet.
I remember watching Cartoon Planet every chance I had back in early '97-'98. It was probably the funniest show on TV at the time, and it's a shame that it kept airing at different times. Man do I miss these guys. This is Space Ghost, Zorak, and Brak, when they were still funny. You know, before going to Adult Swim, where they just got annoying. Personally, I liked them before they got more "adult" and started using crude humor. It just doesn't fit their characters.

...I just got side-tracked. This CD is funny no matter what your taste in humor is. This album's been in my collection for years, and it never gets old. "Highway 40 Unplugged" always gets the most laughs. This is a good album for anyone of any age. Fan of Space Ghost or not. I hope we get at least one more of these somewhere down the road. But I really hope that there will be DVD releases of the show, as the images add much more to the songs. If you like this (and you better), go for Surf & Turf next.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Ultimate Collection of Ridiculous Songs
Are you a fan of Space Ghost Coast to Coast and Cartoon Planet? Get this CD. Do you love silly songs? Get this CD. Have you ever confessed your love to a baloney sandwich? Get this CD.

This is my personal favorite of the 3 Space Ghost CDs. It's jam packed with harmless, care free nonsense. Perfect for sing alongs in the car or just about any occassion. ... Read more

Part of the popular Four Star series, the hand-honed blade on this cleaver is made with Henckels's Sintermetal Component Technology (SCT), which allows three different grades of steel to be combined to form a single piece, fusing together the blade, bolster, and tang. What does this mean in layman's terms? A strong, high-quality knife that will last a lifetime--in a size that's great for numerous kitchen tasks.

Founded in 1731, the J.A. Henckels company is not only one of the world's oldest cutlery manufacturers, it's also one of the most well respected, creating best-selling knives guaranteed to last a lifetime. --Kim Harwell ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Close...but not quite.
This is a nice cleaver, but it is a tad small for all around work. I used one for a while, andprefer the 5 star cleaver. I wrote this review because someone said that the only difference between the 4 and 5 star is the handle. Not so. Catalog pictures reveal a similar profile, but the 5 star is a 6" cleaver, while the 4 star is a 5" cleaver. The extra inch makes a huge difference. It can tackle larger jobs, yet does the smaller ones with less effort, and better control. I know that the 5 star description says 7" length, but that is not the blade length. It is 6". Trust me. Also, the 4 star cleaver advertises the use of the multi alloy, sintered (powdered steel pressed into a single mass) construction that is supposed to offer good edge quality while allowing for less labor intensive production, while the 5 star cleaver is made of a single forging of their premium "ice hardened" Friodur steel. Maybe it doesn't matter, but the top line still seems to prefer the fine characteristics of forged steel. Handle style is apersonal choice. I prefer the 5 star handle for comfort and control, but some will prefer the other.

I just wanted to set the record straight, and let prospective buyers know that there are real differences between the 4 and 5 star cleavers. Some people might need a larger one, but I have never met anyone who would give up a 6" cleaver for a 5" model. It's a cleaver, not a slicer. Even if you are just preparing wings for the fryer, you will appreciate the difference.

5-0 out of 5 stars This is one of Fabio's finest efforts.
This is one of Fabio's finest efforts. He totally captures the
feelings of suspense and wonder everyone feels in all new romances.
Fabio's characters are well developed and the plot follows classic
romantic suspense. .... All in all a
terrific book by Fabio and much better than you would think going in!

4-0 out of 5 stars To my surprise, I liked it
Though one of the wealthiest women in the world, Jorey Maddock finds life to be a bloody bore. She drifts from one fling to another. When her latest romance turns wearisome, Jorey deserts New York City, seeking serenity in the upstate Adirondacks town of Blizzard Bay.She has wonderful memories of teenage summers visiting her deceased grandfather there.

A new resident, Sawyer Howland has a strong feeling that someone needs his help.He has learned over the years not to ignore his visions and thus goes out in a blizzard.Herescues Jorey. Both are attracted to each other, but for different reasons both are frightened of the other. However, someone is killing Jorey's childhood friends, leaving her to wonder if the MYSTERIOUS Sawyer is the killer.

Super model and sometime author, Fabio has scribed a well-written romantic suspense that will elate his myriad of fans while pleasing readers of the sub-genre.The fast-paced story line moves forward and readers will feel Jorey and Sawyer's angst.Though most fans will be a bit disappointed with the ending, Fabio has written a romance novel that will be well received by more than just those readers who judge a book by its cover only.
